Saturday is usually my do nothing and rest up from the week day…

today I had a lunch date with two lovely women… besides getting me out of the house, it was the first time in weeks that I went for an actual walk to get there and back…

ended up wearing my winter jacket because it was a bit breezy and felt like -13 with the windchill…

I really enjoyed being out in the fresh air…

we had a great time at a new Arab street food restaurant and tried different things… manakeesh with eggplant and cheese was my first pick and then I followed up with Halawa Banana and Pistachio Sweet Manakeesh… I also had a chai tea latte which was delicious and when I checked later, may have had 20 grams, or 4 teaspoons, of sugar in it… yikes… no wonder it tasted so great…

the picture shows my meal and the desserts that my friends had, lol… hadn’t had a visit with them for ages so it was really wonderful to spend time together…

after my walk home, which hopefully dealt with some of that extra sugar, I spent some time watching figure skating…

two lovely signs of Spring today…

early this morning I was taking out the garbage and recycling… hadn’t been able to open the garbage container for a few weeks as it had frozen shut… happily it melted enough that I could finally open and fill it up…

as I was putting them out my neighbour came by and we had a short visit… it was warm enough for us to have a chat… he offered to bring them in once they were emptied… nice to connect with neighbours as the season improves…

and I was so excited later in the day when my BestCanvas picture arrived… it is a beautiful shot I’d taken at the Park of a lilac blossom and it looks amazing…

I’ve printed many of my photos and have a wall of my water lily shots, but it was rather energizing to have something on canvas… I feel like an artist, lol…

lilacs are one of my favourite flowers and another sign of Spring…

now, if the snow would stop coming, and the sun stay out longer, it really would be Spring…

as we were driving home tonight the clouds were very cool looking…

leaving the office it looked as though we were going to be in for a snowstorm… very dark gray… but above those, there were gorgeous white lines against the blue sky…

once I got home, took some shots out the front…

the first pictures were through the living room window… had to toss all of them and retake the shots out the front door because the window is so dirty… gonna have to clean that, lol…

getting lighter and feeling warmer each day… this makes me happy…

yesterday was the official first day of Spring… this is what I saw out the windows and door this morning…

I did get to wear my lighter jacket as it is getting warmer, but unfortunately it was overcast all day, which is always a downer for me…

after a long day, partly due to the fact that I slept poorly last night, for supper I did get to have a few of my favourite rice rolls that a colleague surprised me with…

my son-in-law took this fabulous photo of the moon tonight in Ottawa at his Astronomy class where they got to spend time with a big telescope…

a bit jealous because my shots of the moon never look like this… obviously the sky wasn’t overcast there, lol…

yesterday I spent a bit of time at the Fort Garry…

it really is very nice… the lobby is rather spectacular…

they have a lovely brunch area that I hadn’t seen before and I discovered a lower level parking lot… who knew…

too bad I didn’t get to Ten Spa while I was there…

bought a bouquet on March 5th…

yesterday I tossed out some of the spent flowers and rearranged it…

amazing how long they have lasted and how good they still look…

on Friday I picked up this orchid…

left it in the plastic over the weekend to carry it to the office…

and here it is in its new home…

haven’t had an orchid for ages… they always remind me of my beloved… he brought them home for me all the time…

flowers sure do improve my days;-)…

had a bit of fun today…

picked up a few tops while I was out shopping… didn’t try them on until I got home…

they all fit but might not go with the pants I had on, lol…

once home I prepared a few types of soup which was fun… I made my favourite zucchini and basil and then played with an asparagus soup… read a number of recipes and then designed my own… came out nicely…

packaged up the zucchini basil for lunches, but enjoyed the asparagus as part of my dinner…

thinking of my beloved a lot recently… for the past few days I’ve been thinking of his fried egg sandwiches…

this morning I made an open-faced version using some of the French bread from La Belle Baguette that I picked up yesterday…

I can’t replicate what he did… they were always especially yummy… although that might have to do with how much butter he would add to the bread, lol… and the eggs were always perfectly cooked with soft yolks…

I picked up a few hyacinths the other day… left one at work and brought one home for the bedroom… just love the scent as they open… as it bloomed, discovered that it was pink… I usually get the purple ones…

made me realize how much pink there is currently in the bedroom… I held the hyacinth up to the new curtains which have purples and pinks in them… then realized that my afghan has pink in it as well… and when I put away some laundry in the closet – which I recently hung by colour – I spotted some pink as well…

very interesting as pink has never really been one of my colours…

today was my Friday off but I was very busy…

started the morning with breakfast from McDonald’s…

went in all on my own, ordered and then ate in the car… a lovely treat as I really enjoy their breakfast burrito and, of course, the hash browns…

then I spent some time in Staples… I do love me a good office supply store… similar to a candy shop for others…

later in the day I took Shadow in for a bath… so dirty that she looked gray…

last time I was there it took a long time for the wash to be done so this time I set my timer for 20 minutes and did some reading… when it beeped I watched for her and eventually went outside to be ready… I waited a long time and finally turned to go back in to see what was going on and at that point saw Shadow in a different part of the lot… apparently I should have turned around a bit sooner, lol…

but she looks great…

I’ve been wanting to get some flowers for the office recently, but haven’t had an opportunity to pick any up…

as I was heading to work this morning I got a text from a colleague asking me to pick up cream for the office on my way in…

so it just felt like a sign that I now had the chance to get the flowers;-)…

and so I did…

another colleague has an amazing artistic talent and she took the flowers and made them picture worthy…

I also picked up two small hyacinth plants… left one at the office and brought the other one home…

just love the fragrance when they are blooming… Spring is in the air…
