had some fun with pictures today…
reorganized a few items and took a few shots…
angels have been part of my collections forever… now it has been reduced to just a small group…
a few are handmade puppets;-)…
when my eyes aren’t glued to the tv, this is what I see… can see beams of light early in the day and also midday as well…
I do love sunlight…

went to the zoo to see the polar bears, seals and horses…
got a few good photos… it was great to see the bears having fun in the water… and all the seals flitting from the inside pool to the outside…
we also had a lovely wagon ride around the Heavy Horse area…
got to see all six of the horses…
lovely day for a walk around the Zoo…

had a wonderful evening with my two youngest grandsons…
met up with them around 4:30 and then we wandered The Forks, visited the Ice Castles and had dinner out…
they must have gone down the slides a dozen times… now we are home and in various beds watching tv…
what a blessing to have time with them… although I am exhausted, lol…

got a lovely gift today from a colleague who had been home for a holiday…
it is a dress, but I will have it shortened to make a very cute top… the detail around the neck is particularly nice… makes me feel a bit like a queen when I have it on;-)…
my colleague is hoping she will eventually convince me to wear a dress… can’t even remember the last dress I’ve worn… I do wear floor length dresses occasionally although at work they end up getting caught in the wheels of my chair… and I wear sarongs all the time at home…
as we were leaving the office, took a few shots of the lovely rose at her desk…
colour matches my new top…

didn’t even get my camera, just enjoyed a few wonderful moments of soaking it in…
my colleague is away but these tulips are patiently waiting her return… hope she gets back while they are still beautiful;-)…

rough day today…
attended a celebration of life with my colleagues… it was lovely…
gatherings like these are always hard for everyone… for me, they bring up the people who are missing in my life…
I’ve been thinking back to the day of George’s memorial… the stress as we all got ready in the house… the meltdowns, the tears… worrying about how the little boys would manage and not wanting them to have a bad memory of the day…
staying calm as the program took place and making sure that everyone was looked after… so many details and people to speak with…
and then it was over… and my new life began…

had roses delivered to the office this morning for the staff members who were away on Valentine’s Day… had to laugh because they were nicer than the ones we had… these ones came with greenery and glitter, lol…
and shortly after that our Manitoba Lung Association fundraiser tulips were delivered… the office was filled with beauty…
every day the sky is filled with light which lasts longer and is brighter, and to have flowers on top of that just makes me happy…

up very early to watch the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics and then I went back to sleep for a while;-)…
when I finally got up the sun was shining and I took a few fun pictures… the reflection on the water lily installation, the glittering snow, and when we arrived back home, the interesting cloud formation…
this afternoon I met the kids at The Forks and we went for a walk along the River Trail to check out some of the warming huts… they are all interesting architecturally, but warming might be a stretch to describe them, lol…

home for supper and now watching the rerun of the Closing Ceremony… possibly I slept through some of it this morning…

recently I’ve been thinking of my dad…
many in my circles are struggling with parental illness and loss…
which has brought me to the place of thinking of the end of my dad’s time on earth…
he was a very special person and I loved him to pieces…
he was in Deer Lodge Hospital for quite a while as Mom couldn’t care for him properly at home any longer…
I visited him every day… the hospital is close to home so it just took minutes to get there… it was a busy time in our lives… the girls were in elementary school and I spent a great deal of time volunteering as well as looking after them…
when I think back I can remember very little of what happened… I was with dad when he died… I remember that… I don’t remember much else of the next few days… I think I went to pieces inside, although that wasn’t visible on the outside…
I do remember that the afternoon of his memorial the kids were in the car on their own, which they weren’t supposed to do, and it rolled down the driveway and across the street hitting our neighbour’s classic car… thank goodness no one was hurt because it was a beautiful spring day and there were tons of kids playing out there…
interesting because that’s all I can remember…
this is the last picture that we took of him…
without his teeth in, lol…

tgif… always seems strange to me how long four day weeks after a holiday are… you’d think the week would fly by, but no…
was very excited to see these adorable African violet flowers which I discovered at my desk this afternoon…
the plant was turned so I hadn’t noticed the flowers until I moved it… makes me happy…
since yesterday I’ve been thinking of the grilled cheese and onion sandwich that I was going to have for my dinner from the last of the sourdough rye bread I picked up at the bakery…
it was delicious…
