bit of an odd day… woke up at 6:15, made a thermos of tea and went back to bed… it had snowed a bit in the night…

at 7:30 the power went off and didn’t come back on for two hours… happy to have the warm tea as the temperature in the house dropped to 69 Celcius…

it is always so quiet when the power is off… and with the fresh blanket of snow it felt very cozy… particularly because I didn’t have to go out…

once the power was back on I spent some time working on a project and later met up with my daughter and eldest grandson at the mall… oh my… what was I thinking…

cars and people everywhere… good news is that I now have just about everything I need…

stopped to pick up A & W teen burgers, onion rings and fries and then home… teen burgers from A & W were a treat we would sometimes have on our way home from work… nice to enjoy them with my grandson who is spending the night and helping me with some chores around the house tomorrow…

a number of people say he looks just like my beloved;-)…

a few days ago I walked over to TheForks to meet a dear friend for lunch…

on my way I got this shot of the CanadianMuseum for Human Rights… it is such a beautiful building… just yesterday I renewed my membership…

it was a lovely day but a bit cold… I was wearing these amazing purple leather gloves which a friend gave me a few years ago… they look great but are not tremendously warm… so eventually I pulled the sleeves down over my fingers to keep them toasty…

looked just like my eight year old grandson, lol…

Shadow is home… yay…

left work a bit early so I could go and collect her… two weeks in the carspital seemed like forever to me…

I still would forget what the udrive car looked like when I was in parking lots, lol… thank goodness I took that picture the first day…

when I arrived at DonVito on Sargent the process was smooth… after I returned the rental they walked me around the car and explained everything that had been done to her… my biggest concern was that the colour wouldn’t match the rest of her, but happily it was perfect…

then, as I was getting ready to drive away, I realized my parking pass was in the rental car… turned off the car, went in and got someone to fetch it… then when I got back into the car, it chattered and did not start…

went back in and was told that I shouldn’t have turned it off for 15 to 20 minutes after it had been boosted… there didn’t seem to be any clarity on why the battery was dead…

a young woman mechanic came out and got it going… I drove around for half an hour to be sure there was enough time for the battery to charge before getting gas and returning home…

thankfully it started after the fill…

we will see what happens in the morning…

so happy to have her back…

this morning I remembered to take a few shots as I was using my BeeWi SmartPad app…

I find it so handy, particularly at night when I am heading upstairs and have my hands full…

I can turn it on from my phone downstairs before I head up… it also can change colour but I don’t really use that piece of it…

thinking I might get a few more of the light bulbs and maybe even one for a plug… not sure what else they have…

technology is such fun when it works, lol…

last night, as I was going down the stairs, I thought of my beloved… he loved Christmas but sometimes the decorations got the better of him…

he really disliked the various collections that would end up on the stairs…

following his heart surgery, where they took veins from his leg, he wasn’t as steady as he used to be… if you were walking and came upon him from behind you might think he was tipsy because of his gait…

walking was difficult and he only had one speed that worked for him…

so stuff on the stairs could cause him to lose his balance… but that didn’t stop me from decorating, lol…

here’s how the stairs to the second floor look this year… snow people and trees;-)…

he did enjoy shopping and always found many things for me… I miss that…

during the night snow fell and blanketed the neighbourhood…

it is a lovely sight to wake up to such beauty… and it always seems so quiet and peaceful…

here’s the view from the front of the house…

the reflection of the tree in the window is cool… and I like the glass ball in the bottom picture…

the back looks like it has a warm white blanket over everything…

thankfully it wasn’t deep, so I didn’t have any trouble getting out of the garage…

I like to be the first one to make tracks in the snow… although I also like when it is all clear, lol…

and finally this view from the front steps… I actually went outside and left footprints in the snow so I could get this picture…

early this morning I went out for a hot tub… for the last few days the temperature in the tub has read 104 so I’ve had a few excursions out there…

I don’t usually have the phone when I am in the hot tub, but a bird was calling and I wanted to record the sound so my birdwatching friends could listen and identify it… it was a beautiful morning and besides the bird there were a few squirrels flitting about…

a bit later I ran out to get some grocery shopping done… perfect timing because the store had very few people in it… took quite a few trips to get everything into the house…

got all the stuff put away and prepared for my company to arrive…

my dear friend, who I haven’t seen in ages, came to help decorate for Christmas… we had such fun…

while I was hanging some ornaments in the dining room window caught this little guy on the rail of the front steps…

once we were done my friend headed home and I put all of the unused things back into the bins and carried them downstairs…

certainly was a full day… and the house looks wonderful…

let the celebrating begin…

this morning I made a delicious cheesy omelette for breakfast…

shredded mushrooms and onion and fried them up…

then I beat up the eggs with my immersion blender… I use it nearly every single day…

it really whips them up…

then I poured that over the mushrooms and covered it with a lot of grated cheese… and some cilantro…

that went under the broiler for a few minutes and out came a delicious omelette… few final sprinkles of the cilantro and then it was time to devour it…

and I did… the cheesy gooeyness was just what I was craving…

had some fun with flowers over the last couple of days…

on Wednesday, when I was at Safeway, I spotted these cute little poinsettias… they were the perfect addition to the table settings for our Holiday Celebration… the florist packaged them up for me and once I got them home and slightly unwrapped, they sat on the dining room table for a day…

this morning I wrapped them back up and took them over to Boston Pizza… had to wait outside the door for a while before someone let me in… apparently they don’t have many people at their doorstep at 7:45 am…

and finally tonight they brightened up the tables and acted as prizes for the event…

certainly remind me of the beauty of the holidays;-)…

been looking at my stats recently…

as of today I have 280 followers… 270 on WordPress and 10 via email…

sort of fun to review the insights and see how many people are checking it out…

it is also interesting to see where the viewers come from…

kind of amazing to think of people across the world checking out what you’ve written, lol…

I started writing in December of 2012… been a real journey… sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday and other times a decade ago…

and so we move forward… those big girl pants…
