thinking of those who are struggling to find the appropriate path…

whether it is physical, mental, or emotional…

today my grandson came over to move the rocks out of the flowerbed in an effort to make it easier for when the gardener is able to start work…

while I was over there I checked out the couple of poppies that have come up… we used to have many, many poppies in the garden, but over the last few years there have been fewer and fewer…

looks like there will be a couple of flowers… pretty exciting…
might be the last ones;-(…

I think Spring has finally hit me…
spent time cleaning a cabinet and shelf unit in the bathroom…

also did a bit of work in the garden…
cut back some of the Virginia creeper… always feel such satisfaction trimming it, and find it rather addictive, lol… sometimes it is hard to stop…

and then, while I was watching some tv, I touched something on the remote and the screen misbehaved for a while… eventually I unplugged everything and when it started up again it was fine… not that I am addicted to tv…

pretty pleased because, thanks to a friend, I might just have found a gardener…
we walked around the front yard and garden and reviewed all of the things that needed to be done… it is quite a list…
at first I thought she was overwhelmed with how much needs to be done, but I mentioned I would be happy if just the garden was looked after…

although it was raining and the garden looks rather sad, she said she felt the serenity of the space…
we made a plan and she is going to get started when she has an opening in her schedule… this might not be for a few weeks, but I am thrilled that the work is going to get done eventually…
before then I’m hoping that someone can come and move some rocks…
so exciting;-)…

on my walk home tonight I stopped at the creek and spent a few minutes looking it over…
the water level is very low…

doesn’t seem that long ago that there was water everywhere…
after all the snow, it seems amazing that everything is so dry now…

been thinking about what to plant in the garden this year…
wondering about doing something a bit different… maybe only choose three or four types of plants and using them in multiples…

have someone coming over to see if they might help me with the maintenance of the garden… excited to see how that turns out…

went to look at what plants were available in the stores on Sunday…
it is too soon to do any planting so my goal was to see what is out there…
but then I bought a few things…

picked up a flat of white alyssum and one of purple lobelia… I’ve used these for a number of years in the planters around the deck… the colour and scent add to the peaceful feeling in the garden…
then I chose a basket of midnight stars petunias… petunias have not been one of my favourites, but the flowers on this plant are amazing… this will go into the planter right outside the front door…

finally, a hanging basket of fuchsia, red and purple, which will hang close to the hot tub…
considering that I wasn’t going to buy anything, I guess I did well to stop when I did, lol…

noticed a number of birds over the last few days…
common or purple finches at the bird feeder, and ducks and geese at the Park…

the mallard was at the door to the Leo Mol Gallery… not sure if it was waiting to go in, or what…
but, the most exciting creature I’ve seen was the great blue heron by the bridge to the Park…

I was so excited to see this beauty… I must have stood watching it for ten minutes before it flew away…
herons are everywhere in Ontario and BC, and I’ve seen a few at Manitoba lakes, but not in the city…
a wonderful treat…

saw a picture of this particular Hawaiian flower recently, and it reminded me of ones we saw when we were on Maui…
it’s known as spiral ginger, red tower ginger or red velvet ginger… the Hawaiian name for ginger plants is awapuhi…

it is one of the flowers that looks like it is made of plastic, lol… this is from a bouquet we had in the Gingerbread house Airbnb we stayed in…

this one, possibly shampoo ginger, had us touching it a few times because we were convinced it was artificial… but then the little piece opened up… with a bit of purple in it…
it’s always so interesting to see the different vegetation when travelling…

busy day as I researched and decided on which version of iPhone X I would upgrade to…
walked up and down Polo Park a few times as I checked out the various options…
one of the things I was most interested in was the quality of the camera, as I take many photos…
also, size of the phone was important… I didn’t want something too large for my hand and that would feel uncomfortable…
and then there was the issue of the case… I have the most wonderful case now, but it isn’t available for an iPhone X…
I want something that doesn’t cover the front of the phone as I do take so many photos…
in the end I chose the iPhone X and purchased it from The Source… picked up a Huawei tablet and a Kate Spade cover…

I also found a case that holds a few credit cards… not sure yet which case I will use most, lol…
then I came home and figured out how to move my data from the old to the new…
even got the tablet working with all the apps I use… it will be fun to learn the android system…
looking forward to playing with these new toys;-)…
