have walked by a shop on Portage a number of times but a couple of weeks ago I stopped in…

picked up some stones

then I was in it a few times last week…

need to be careful that I don’t stop by too often, I do love rocks and stones…

most of the stones (including some I’ve picked up elsewhere) are in a little dish beside my bed… a few live on my desk…

purple;-)…

spent quite a while on the phone with my daughter this morning… our conversation started as I was walking home from the Park…

finished the call relaxing in the garden before it got too hot…

and how exciting is this;-)…

finally the first flower on the mandevilla opened today…

there are dozens of buds so it will be interesting to watch them all open…

watered the garden this morning before leaving the house…

the plants are all quite happy and there are many flowers…

woke up with a headache which progressed throughout the morning and by lunchtime it was raging

so bad, in fact, that I took pills and lay on the floor in our meeting room with lights out and blinds closed…

thankfully, eventually the headache dulled and I made it through the rest of the day…

quiet dinner and early to bed tonight…

this afternoon I headed over to Graham Avenue to get my contacts checked…

been wearing a few different test lenses for about two weeks and have been very pleased with the improvement in my vision…

with the last contacts I had, I never did get good vision for close up items and long distance wasn’t that great either… I had concluded that glasses were going to be my best option…

she experimented with a different contact and I had to wait a few minutes for it to settle onto my eye…

as I left, got this picture of one of the pop-up parks

looking forward to the new lenses and better vision…

sadly it is back to glasses as I wait for the new ones to arrive…

such a boost today… flowers everywhere I was…

quick peek at the pond and as I backed out of the driveway the sky cleared and the flowers in the front garden all smiled at me…

at the office, there were violets, two different orchids and cyclamen

all that flower power certainly helped offset the occasional computer difficulty that I came across throughout the day…

had a lovely time in the garden this morning…

instead of walking on the treadmill I watered all the pots and planters one by one with a bucket… I find this very helpful because it ensures that each one gets the correct amount of water…

the daturas are looking stunning… seems like I couldn’t get enough pictures of them this morning… lots of buds and opening flowers…

the mandevilla continues to tease me by slowly getting closer to opening every day…

and the big excitement was the hibiscus beginning to open… took the open shot when I arrived home after work… it is so much happier in this space, just about four feet from where it was… amazing what finding just the right spot can do for the plant’s happiness;-)…

the final day of my week with the boys while the rest of the family visit the East Coast…

tidied bedrooms, watched videos, went to a movie, read and mowed the grass…

relaxed for the remainder of the day…

we talked about the best things during our time together… biggest hit was our steak and lobster dinner… best camp happening was touching the snake… best thing for the older one was sleeping in and our visit to The Forks… not a bad list, lol…

suitcases, pillows, groceries, backpack and shoes all ready to go… then there were the happy faces as they got picked up, lol…

bye;-)…

started our day with breakfast at the “A”…

while we were there we decided to take the new Assiniboine Park Trolley down to The Forks and back for an adventure

we hurried home, watered, took out steak and lobster to thaw for dinner, loaded up the backpack and headed to the Park…

we circled the Riley Family Duck Pond, counting varieties of ducks and numbers of babies… we waited for the Trolley at the entrance to the English Garden and rode it around the park five or six times before heading downtown…

once we got to The Forks we took part in the Winnipeg Fishing Festival… well two of us did, one was not being very cooperative…

we completed a booklet and entered both boys into the draw… the first name drawn was the youngest… the one who didn’t participate, lol… he won a rod and reel and a tackle box… very generously he gave his brother the rod…

home on the Trolley, stopped at the grocery store for butter and garlic and back to the house to make our celebratory dinner…

it was delicious… the boys are excited to be going to their Uncle’s tomorrow… he has a pool… I am excited to have my house back to myself;-)…

final day of zoo camp… as we left the house we saw the bunny again… the older grandson and I dropped off the camper and wandered around the Gardens trying to catch Pokémon… the app stopped working for quite a while so we headed into the Park Cafe for a drink to pass some time…

then over to Costco to buy a few essentials and some treats to put away for our camping trips this summer… home to drop off the groceries, and back to the Park Cafe for lunch with a dear friend…

the Pokémon app worked better so we spent time afterwards walking around playing;-)… there were many new Pokémon to catch today…

picked up the camper and visited Save-On-Foods for a variety of chicken wings for our supper… went very nicely with the shrimp ring and Caesar salad…

after dinner we watered plants and baskets and I noticed that the pot that fell when the umbrella flew off the table yesterday was broken… very sad…

tv, video games and chatting with friends is the plan for the rest of the evening…

another busy day…

have really been enjoying the drive through the Park each morning as we go to and from the zoo for camp… wonderful relaxing way to start the day…

our supper plan was a frozen pizza, followed by a delicious dessert pizza… our various descriptions included: smells like s’mores; looks like a giant chocolate chip cookie; tastes like hot chocolate… yum… we did discuss that the whole pizza was 880 calories which was why I had a single slice… might just be getting a few of these to have on hand in the freezer;-)…

the older one ran out to the gas bar to pick up some milk for tomorrow’s breakfast and came across this bunny when he returned… clever boy circled around and came in to get me to go out and see it;-)…
