bit of a sleep in this morning as I didn’t have to be at the office until 9…

during the very early morning there was a big thunderstorm, which kept me awake… so I hadn’t slept well for the second night and started the day with a serious headache

got a few shots of the eggplants covered in rainwater before heading out…

dropped the camper off and got a quick bye grandma… much more enthusiastic today, lol…

not long after I got home (early because we started late and finished early today) the wind blew the umbrella right off the table and onto the deck by the hot tub just a few feet from the middle guy… scary

we went over to the Park to hunt for Pokémon and when we got there the app stopped working… so instead, we searched for frogs and found a bunch…

nice to have some one-on-one time with this guy… we picked up the camper and walked over the bridge for ice cream at Sargent Sundae… spotted a plane flying over the river as we crossed it…

heard about everyone’s day as we had supper…

did laundry because at least one of these young men gets his clothes really dirty, lol…

great news… the youngest did go to camp and had a great time… I was a bit worried about whether he would actually get there…

he hadn’t been to camp before and had a poor night’s sleep… maybe worrying about it…

got up and got his bag packed with lunch, two snacks and a water bottle in addition to rain gear and a change of clothes… had a bit of trouble getting the bag closed, lol…

spent a few minutes relaxing before taking him over to the Park…

dropped him off at the very beginning of the check-in time and he went in, a bit tentative but he went through the gate…

kept my phone close all day long, but he clearly enjoyed himself and there were no calls…

when I picked him up he wanted to stay longer to play soccer…

as we drove away he advised that I needed to drop him off at the exact same time tomorrow so he would have extra play time…

meanwhile the older one slept for most of the day… he did eventually get up and do the few chores on the list I’d left him… did I mention he is 13, lol…

together we decided on bits and pieces to have for supper from various meals we’ve eaten over the last few days… we also reviewed our planned meals and made a few adjustments to be sure we had all the meals covered…

tv and video games till bedtime, lol…

I think some of us are more tired than others…

very relaxed and sunshiny day…

slept in and the boys had cereal for breakfast while I had a smoothie…

games and tv took up a good portion of their day… we also labeled items for camp and did a bit of clothing repair…

after grilled cheese for lunch, we walked over to Amherst Park where the boys played some football and we took a picture of them in the same spot where they had played on July 2nd, 2011 with Grandpa;-)…

it was lovely to watch them as they tossed and kicked the ball back and forth… I spent a bit of time on the swings, lol…

from there we walked to 7-Eleven for slurpees…

back home for more tv and games…

baths, supper and quiet time before bed…

we’ve been keeping to the menu that we made when shopping on Friday, so tonight we had lamb chops, rice, mushrooms, carrots and radishes…

looks like the rain is coming…

hope tomorrow is a nice day for Zoo camp;-)…

last night we did stay up and walk over to the the track behind the Library to watch the fireworks… it was a beautiful night and a great show…

this morning we slept in… well I was awake, but stayed in bed so the boys could get their sleep…

once up, and after breakfast, we spent some time in the garden… did some watering, trimming and relaxing… tv watching, video game playing, and possibly some napping was how we spent most of the day, with a bit of time outside playing with the football…

around four we packed a bag and walked over to the Children’s Playground at the Park…

there were a lot of people enjoying Canada Day festivities…. we caught a few Pokémon and then started home when the thunder and lightning started… part way home the rain poured down… we decided to pick up pizza and walked fast…

once we arrived home we took off our wet jackets, hats, shoes and the backpack and had the pizza… thankfully, the box had not quite disintegrated…

FaceTimed with mommy and watched some tv…

another fun day…

after breakfast the older mowed the grass, whipper snipped, and we moved the rocking chair… we will see how it feels in the new spot…

then we headed over to the Zoo to check out the wolves and big bugs

it was overcast but not too hot… we also stayed quite a while in the butterfly garden, sitting still and hoping that a butterfly would land on us…

stopped at Indigo to pick up some reading material… was all excited that they wanted books, but they meant graphic novels, ie comics, lol… although the boys did tell me they read all the words…

lunch at Subway and home to play video games and watch tv…

organized twice stuffed potatoes to go with our country style spareribs as this was the request…

they are currently playing football in the park…

planning to watch fireworks at eleven just a few streets over…

and sleep in tomorrow…

week with the boys…

my daughter, son-in-law and oldest grandson have taken off on a two week trip to the East Coast to celebrate his graduation… so my younger grandsons are spending a week with me and then a week with an uncle and aunt…

this morning we drove to the Park, where we met a friend, for breakfast and a walk around the Gardens

we checked out our stones when we arrived… just to be sure they were still there, lol…

we had a great time in the Gardens and spent ages at the tropical lily pond watching a momma mallard and her four babies…

we also found a few critters

we went and picked up groceries for the week and when we got home spotted a goldfinch at the feeder… when I called them to come quick, not saying why, one said to the other I wonder what kind of bird it is, lol… they do know their grandma…

the x-box came to visit too, and got well used during the hottest part of the day, while I may have napped…

a trip to the Dollar Store, Safeway and then we returned home…

fun with the football we picked up, taco supper, and now some time in the garden…

we did FaceTime with mommy and watched daddy work on a campfire…

they are off to play some badminton… then, maybe a movie, or early to bed, lol…

at least one of us is tired

bowls…

received these sweet bowls from my daughter when my youngest grandson and I visited Ottawa in March…

she had been using them while waiting for us to arrive, lol, and really liked them… there was some talk about not giving them to me…

when I first brought them home I didn’t use them, but decided one day that the largest one would be great for my evening chip nibble… it is about the same size as one of the cereal bowls I’d been using for ages… and much prettier;-)…

then I discovered that pretzels fit beautifully in the one the next size down… and finally, things like olives or almonds and chocolate wafers fit perfectly in the smallest one…

having appropriate sized snack containers is very helpful for portion control…

now I use them all the time, lol…

a lovely gift

what a great evening…

met up with a group of friends and family for an early dinner at Hermanos to celebrate the graduate… we also toasted the dad on his birthday

on to the Concert Hall for the graduation ceremony… there were many early birds like us who wanted to get great seats, lol…

we are so very proud of this young man, who moved from a French immersion school to a fully French school in grade nine, and in the process completed the International Baccalaureate program…

following the ceremony there was lots of photo-taking with proud friends and family;-)…

grandpa would be pleased and I am sure he was watching… I was happy to see that he was wearing my beloved’s high school ring and my mother’s chain;-)…

exciting to see where his next steps will take this very special young man…

watered…

this morning I watered the baskets in the front flower bed by hand…

I could have used the hose but decided to use a jug and walk back and forth from the kitchen sink…

purpose was twofold… be sure each planter got enough water… and get some steps in…

then I watered a few plants on the deck, adding some leftover milk, which, according to the internet, provides additional nutrients and means I don’t have to toss out the sour milk…

once that was done, I spent about fifteen minutes in the garden enjoying the peace and soaking up the sound of the waterfall…

the datura looked lovely as I sat in the lounger… a special moment…

yesterday I picked up flowers from Safeway for an event this evening…

I gave them to the clerk to wrap without putting them in a plastic sleeve and assumed she would put them in one before wrapping them…

she didn’t so the package was soaking wet at the bottom and the stems were sticking out before I even got home…

I took them out and put them into a container of water so they would be in good shape for today…

this morning I put them in a plastic bag filled with water so they wouldn’t suffer on the way to work… tucked them into the seatbelt and away we went…

at the office, our resident flower guru cut and placed them in fresh water, and then arranged them beautifully…

they spent most of the day at the front of the office and then moved into the meeting space for the evening…

quite the transformation
