acclimate…

I (and possibly my housemate) have been bringing out the indoor plants slowly, but surely…

first to come out was the Japanese maple… right now it’s sitting on the ledge that’s mostly shaded, for a few days…

next out came the hibiscus, and it went to the back under the trees, again where it’ll get shaded for the next few days before moving to its final spot…

orchids came out and filled up the little plant stand at the back, looks very cute with the begonias…

brought out a fern and another plant which I can’t remember the name of, that did really well in the top of the rain barrel, so we’ll see how that goes…

when the mandevilla comes out, it is going to sit along the path to the side garden to acclimate

the lemon tree is still in the house… haven’t quite figured out where it’s gonna go and maybe a few other plants from in there are gonna come outside… we will see…

today I had the opportunity to see the Bison on the Boulevard along Roblin Boulevard…

this art installation is amazing, looks wonderful and is in support of Toba Centre for Children and Youth…

I drove by a number of them and also saw a few closer up on foot…

in the background of a few of them you can see more on the other side of the road…

checked out this one at the entrance to the zoo on my way in, and this one as I was leaving…

reminds me of the polar bears and wolves… wonder where they will end up;-)…

preparation…

the pond was filled and running for just over a week in preparation for the fish…

recently I had to climb in to place the water lily and sort out a problem with the second pump which wasn’t working…

took a few tries, but eventually it got going…

the water temp was really cold and when I got out my legs were bright red, lol…

I also topped up the water as it continues to leak a bit…

had a surprise visit to The Leaf last week…

I was supposed to meet my adventure buddy for a walk around the English and Leo Mol Gardens… it was cold and windy and I may not have had the warmest clothes on, lol…

I walked over and found a tree trunk down across the path between the walking bridge and the entrance to the Gardens…

reported it to one of the gardeners who was working close to the entrance and they were going to notify the arborist

once we met up, we decided to walk around The Leaf instead;-)… got the tickets online as we drove over and headed in…

it looked as though the gardeners had done a big pruning job and made a bit of space around the Tropical Biome… views of the water had been trimmed up nicely…

I often take photos of the same things, lol…

fun time, as always;-)…

on Victoria Day, my housemate changed the tires on Indi…

it was well past the time to get the summer ones on…

unfortunately, it took a long time as the tires didn’t want to leave the car…

getting the jack in just the right place to be able to work on the back tires took a minute…

eventually, three of the four were replaced, but the fourth one did not want to cooperate… luckily a neighbour came over and between he and my housemate it finally came off…

now she loves lovely with her summer wheels;-)…

vanished…

recently we purchased some feeder fish and popped them into the pond… they vanished under the bridge and weren’t seen again, lol…

a few days ago, the fish were caught and brought out to the pond from their indoor condo … my housemate has very little trouble catching them in the tanks…

once the pail was outside, he waited patiently for me to get out there to take the before, during, and after photos, lol…

they, too, went right under the bridge, but by the next afternoon, they were swimming all around the pond and enjoying a snack…

so happy to have them outdoors again;-)…

raked…

early this week the garden was aerated with a huge machine…

watching the young man muscle it around the space made it clear how big and heavy the machine was…

a few days later, after watering the grass to soften it, clover and grass seed was scattered…

then the spots that weren’t doing well were raked and levelled out…

the new rake worked beautifully… the old one had separated quite a while ago, but it was likely thirty or forty years old, lol…

since then the grass has been watered daily to encourage the seed to take…

all of the cushions are put away before the watering begins…

it is a process, as the sprinkler has to be moved five or six times to ensure every bit gets a good soaking;-)…

fingers crossed that it does better this year than it did last year

housing…

the other day we discovered that the battery on the lawnmower was no longer working…

after figuring out how to get it out of the housing, we went to The Battery Man to replace it… $168 and it works again…

very happy about that because the grass was getting really long after all the rain…

grass was mowed, whipper snipped, and blown…

looks great;-)…

what a treat;-)…

last Saturday I was invited out for lunch… it was cold and overcast, so a nice bright spot in a dull day…

we went to Sushi Cushi and had a lovely meal… we often over order, but this time we got just the right amount…

a fun time and I enjoyed every single bite;-)…

impatiens…

drove out to Shelmerdine last Friday, to pick up a water lily for the pond, and may have picked up a few other items, lol…

I picked up two different impatiens plants which I am going to put into the pond;-)…

also found a beautiful spiral begonia…

I found a variety of morning glory seeds, as well as some for cucumbers and beans…

once home they went into the garage because the temperature was threatening to go to 0°C…

and then I moved all the plants waiting to be planted into the garage…

found a small pail and covered the tomato which had already been planted…

since then the plants have all been moved outside and are doing well;-)…
