WE Day in Winnipeg… made for a lot of traffic around the office…

at one point in the afternoon the street was completely filled with school buses picking up sixteen thousand kids and taking them back to school… the logistics must be crazy… way to go…

when I got home I had a short rest and then made zucchini basil chicken soup for tomorrow’s Souper Thursday…

I really love my mandolin… it makes chopping the onion and zucchini quick and easy… this is the simplest soup to make and very tasty…

we all love the fact that on Thursday we only need to bring a little something to go with the soup that someone else is making…

was recently talking with friends about cleaning windows… at the time we were looking out the dirty ones in my living room…

in our house George was the one who cared about the windows being clean…

my friends felt that their husbands seem more interested in clean windows as well…

we kind of laughed because we all like clean windows, we are just less likely to do the cleaning, lol…

as I arrived at the office this morning I noticed the window cleaners setting up across the street…

too funny…

worked the late shift today so first thing this morning I ran around and did a few errands…

Thursday is my soup day so I went to the grocery store to get the ingredients to make zucchini basil chicken soup

then it was over to the dollar store to look for little gloves… didn’t have what I wanted but I did find a few goodies for Halloween;-)…

a new witches hat… I have a few but this one was cute… and a spiderweb-y cape to go with it…

on Friday the boys and I did some walking… to the bakery and grocery store, and around the zoo…

I was fine for the first part of the day but when I got out of the car at the zoo I felt like my leg had slipped out of the socket… seemed like it just needed to be pushed back in…

walked all around the zoo slowly and took a few sit down breaks while the boys played on/at various spots…

when I got home it was still very sore and by the time I went to bed it really hurt… thought about a hot tub but was worried I wouldn’t be able to get out on my own… when I went up the stairs I had to take them one at a time… had trouble finding a comfortable spot to sleep…

by morning it was still uncomfortable but a bit better… seemed best when I was still… bending, leaning, twisting all caused pain… walking was a slow process but as the day progressed I felt better…

still sore in the evening but was able to get into the hot tub and felt good when I got out…

slept better and feeling good today although I have taken it very easy…

disconcerting because I can’t put a finger on what caused the problem

my activity today consisted of putting a roast into the crockpot and enjoying the smell all day… oh my…

came out fabulous… looked a bit brown, but tasted delicious… made a potato and cauliflower mash, blended all the vegetables that cooked with the pot roast in the crockpot and mixed them with the shredded meat…sprinkled some green onion over the top and that was it…

this morning my daughter and I went for pedicures… included the paraffin which is always so rejuvenating…

the massage always makes my legs and feet feel wonderful… after we were done, she dropped me off at home and took the car as they needed an extra one for an event tomorrow…

came into the house, changed my clothes and was picked up by a friend to go to the theatre… had to be careful I didn’t smudge my toes as I was changing …

I am always interested in the way the set is used… today we had a drink beforehand and some delicious homemade cookies that my friend brought… yum…

later as I was eating my dinner I listened to the thunder rolling… ran around and took a few pictures of the sky…

this one was out the back… pretty dark out there…

towards the front the sun was shining…

not sure what took place elsewhere in the city, but nothing actually happened here…

well, the boys came over this morning and helped me put the garden to bed…

we managed about an hour of work before everyone was done, but accomplished quite a bit… removed plants, mowed grass, put away pots and furniture…

then we walked to the bakery and grocery store to get supplies for making grilled cheese sandwiches… we had to stop at a local park where the boys remembered grandpa playing in this red car with them… and hearing the story of how mommy’s tooth was chipped here…

the older one prepared the sandwiches while the youngest rested from all that walking, lol…

next we headed over to Assiniboine Park Zoo to check out the animals… climbed towers, checked out bugs, looked for polar bears, made a drink combining a slushy with an ice cream cone and ran through a hay bale maze…

pretty nice way to spend this beautiful fall day…

as I left the house this morning I had my new Lugg bag with me, ready for aquasize tonight…

it holds everything for the class… even had a spot for my shoes and wet swimsuit… also took my new Turkish towel… it is very pretty but not as absorbent as my others…

my pass was at zero dollars so I had to purchase another ten visits… and then the lovely young woman didn’t charge me for today’s class… how nice was that… excellent customer service…

at lunch time a few of us went over to Cityplace to check out the Farmers Market… unfortunately it is only there every two weeks, which meant not this week, lol…

I printed the schedule and put it up on the bulletin board so we get it right next time…

aquasize went well… I survived, lol… first time this year and we had a new teacher… she was very energetic and fun…

now to sleep

worked the early shift today so left the office at 3:30…

went across the street to the drugstore and got my flu shot… only took the time to fill out the form and after had to wait the mandatory ten minutes to be sure there were no reactions…

the pharmacist was telling me that they are doing about twenty shots a day since there are so few flu shot clinics this year… they consider giving the shots a community service as it takes administrative and human resources time as well as necessary supplies… what they are paid doesn’t cover those costs…

it is all very pretty though… good branding with all the signs, tablecloth, staff badges and even the bandaids a nice turquoise colour…

then I went and got my hair cut… had a new person and she did a fine job… didn’t have to wait there either…

pretty productive afternoon…

been thinking of what a great day we had on Sunday…

this picture is an example of the fun that filled the day… the daddy was photobombing a picture…

it is quite wonderful when the stars align and everyone is happy and cooperative…

the sun shone and our group walked and ran and jumped… who knew how much fun you could have in a skate park without a skateboard, lol…

I was especially happy when we ended up at The Forks because I’d been wanting to have a photo with the Winnipeg sign…

when I was visiting my daughter in Ontario we went and had photos taken at a variety of signs… two different Ottawa ones and then at the Canada 150 sign… in Kingston, we took night shots and daytime ones, at the Kingston sign… over the summer I’d taken a few pics at the Canada 150 sign at Assiniboine Park…

so it really seemed important to get one here…

had to stop at the store for a few groceries and found some flowers…

flowers really make me happy and putting them into the cart just seemed like the right thing to do…

I always giggle as I clip the bouquet into the seatbelt but it really is a great way to transport them…

going to take them to the office for my desk… will be a lovely treat to have them brighten my space…
