I should be completely worn out because it’s been such a busy weekend… but I’m not…

up and out for an early morning hot tub and took a picture of the garden before I came in…

it needs the spring cleanup

was picked up and met the rest of the family for dimsum… this is one of our traditions when my sister-in-law comes to town… and we all love it… well most of the time… sometimes the younger ones don’t want to have anything, but another time they eat everything in sight…

that black blob on the bottom right is the youngest not participating, lol… but he did eat…

my oldest grandson came home with me and did some cleanup in the garden, although it was rather cold… he raked and swept and moved furniture and took dead plants to the composting barrels… then we sat down at his suggestion, and made a list of projects for the garden this summer…

we didn’t get everything we wanted done today, but it looks much more ready to be in…

I am so blessed to have this young man help me with the garden maintenance… and of course my son-in-law does lots of the work with the ponds;-)…

looking forward to warm days and hours spent by the pond

another fun, full day…

quiet relaxing morning and then off for lunch with my play-buddy before we headed to the last one of the season…

lunch was at Clementine’s in the Exchange District… had a very tasty Braised Bacon Benedict (Maple Sabayon, Dill, Poached Eggs, Cheddar Biscuit) and we shared a Braman’s Greens, Sweet Cayenne Walnuts, Smoked Dates, Apples, Mimolette Cheese, House Dressing salad…

the biscuit brought a light feel to the dish and the maple sabayon was delicious… the salad was like dessert to end the meal… yummy…

then we moved on to PTE for our final play of the season… it was very funny… while we were there we signed up for next year;-)…

I am always impressed with the sets and how they convey so much more than is actually there…

got home and my sister-in-law and nephew picked me up and we went to his place for supper… got to meet the teamfifteen sled dogs… these are just a few of  them…

and here is Aiko, the leader

we had a wonderful dinner of BBQ steak, baby potatoes and onions, mushrooms asparagus, and a caprese salad… what a treat to just sit back and enjoy as others did the work…

left just as the sky burst into this…

what a wonderful day off… not exactly as planned

started with a walk around the pond at the Birchwood Automotive Group to see the geese… at first there were two and then three others arrived… little bit of  discussion amongst them before they became friends…

from there I headed off to lunch with a great friend who is having a birthday tomorrow… excellent meal and fun to be together…

always have lots to talk about, lol…

came home to find my sister-in-law had arrived from Calgary… it is always special when we have time together… before she moved to Calgary, besides spending family time, we also worked with one another…

we ran out and did a bit of grocery shopping… she found this cute tray for me…

back home we had a snack and waited for my nephew to pick her up… once they left I had a nap and made dinner…

picked up a beautiful purple calla lily…

been a long full week…

did have some fun at lunch when a few of us went shopping at the final Farmers Market at CityPlace

picked up a gift, Aschenti chocolate, peach and ginger tea, and a cooling neckband…

at the end of the day I was exhausted, but my daughter called and wanted to meet and take a wander through the Home and Garden Show

so, after work I met her and a friend and we walked over to the Convention Centre and toured the show…

found a few treasures… delicious fudge, very similar to what my dad would make… cool hooks that appear to be invisible… and some neat containers that flatten when not in use… and we ran into a number of people we knew…

on our way back to the cars we stopped at Boston Pizza for wings and nachos

a very late supper… but a fun time with these young women…

here’s the loot;-)…

good thing I don’t get out much, lol… no longer tired and a great start to my weekend

been thinking of the momentous moments in one’s life… and how they change everything

for me those moments have included

the moment I met my beloved… he walked into my parents’ house with a friend who was staying with us… from that instant my life changed forever…we were inseparable from that day forward…

the moment we got married… and began our life together… although we were young it felt like the perfect step and started a lifetime of great happiness…

the moment we became parents, both times... and how our lives changed again in the most amazing and wonderful way…

the moment we became grandparents… and how life changing that has been as each one of our grandchildren has come into the world and added joy to our lives…

the moment we became the seniors in our family…when we returned from the hospital after his mom (our last parent) died and our children began looking after us…

the moment my beloved left me…

in my camera app you can save favourites…

when I like a picture for some reason or other, I put it into the favourites folder and wait for the right time to use it…

today I have a few that I’ve been saving and thought I would share…

on one of our walks on vacation I took this picture of a lovely hibiscus

this shot of the new shell additions to the living room table… one square has the purchased ones and the other all of the ones we found along the beach…

newest page on my Chihuly calendar…

I love April

this cute  little ladybug was wandering along the baseboard in the bedroom the other day…

wonderfully gnarled tree in the English Gardens…

once I’ve used them I remove them from Favourites… and on to the next;-)…

so happy… there are flowers everywhere…

yellow daffodils in the kitchen last night…

then they travelled in the car this morning on their way to the office…

found their final destination on the counter at the front of the office…

so, today it was all about the geese… and a few ducks… found the Latin name for them – branta – as I was doing some research

wrote about my mom’s drawing of a goose a while back…

early this morning I was out in the hot tub and watched hundreds of them flying overhead…

took my first walk since the fall to Assiniboine Park and wandered around the English and Leo Mol Gardens

lovely day although a bit windy, and I was very happy to be outside walking… the sidewalks were all clear and dry…as I was crossing the walking bridge by the Park I caught these geese along the riverbank…

as I looked from the Boy with the Boot to the flag on the Pavilion, a few more were walking on the ice at the Riley Family Duck Pond

there was open water as well as ice, lol…

on the tour of the Gardens I could hear the geese honking as they flew over and talking to one another in the river…

before crossing the bridge to come home took this picture of a pair… one was guarding while the other was eating…

they are so majestic and beautiful… and their honking still makes me stop and look up, wherever I am…

too bad about all the fertilizer they leave behind…

have really taken the day to rest and recover from the cold I’ve been struggling with all week…

these are some of the times when I most miss my beloved… he always did a great job of looking after me…

jammies on all day and the only thing I did was prepare meals…

for breakfast I really wanted to order something, but dragged myself down to the kitchen and took inspiration from the cute woman at the resort who made all the egg dishes… cooked up mushrooms, green onion and spinach and made an omelette with a little cheese in it as well… came out very nicely…

for lunch I chose the last bit of my zucchini basil chicken soup with chips and some Mexican chocolate… seemed like just the right combination, lol…

for supper made one of the ChefsPlate meals… still enjoying the process of preparing the meal… and it tasted great…

turkey and spinach meatballs…

as I was sitting in the living room waiting for the meatballs to finish cooking I could actually smell the hyacinth…

hurray, the cold is starting to let up…

Vicks…

last night I dug out the Vicks

been struggling with this cold since about Tuesday and was trying to figure out what to try…

really wanted a hot toddy, but the alcohol and honey are not really on the list of things to put into my body nowadays…

brought back such dear memories of my beloved…

when he’d get a cold he would slather his chest with Vicks VapoRub, wrap a worn sock around his neck and head to bed…

the entire bedroom would reek… but he always claimed it worked for him…it was something his family had done for years, lol…

I only put it under my nose, although I couldn’t even tell it was there, because I couldn’t smell anything…

tonight I may put a bit more on and see how I feel in the morning…

sure do miss my beloved…
