stain…

Wednesday morning I took the leftover pickled veggies for my lunch…

realized when I got out of the car that the container had leaked all over the front seat…

used Kleenex and a heavy item from the glove compartment to see if I could soak it up…

still a wet stain when I got into the car at the end of the day… at home I brought out some towels and used a number of 2 by 4s to weigh them down… still there in the morning so I called the Chamois and booked an appointment to have the upholstery shampooed…

took it in this morning and spent an hour at Costco while it was being worked on… only had two grocery bags so needed to be a bit careful in what I picked up…

what I didn’t realize was that the seats would be quite wet when I picked it up…

the car is now in the garage with the windows wide open… hope it dries before Monday morning…

went to a play at PTE with a friend this afternoon and afterwards she dropped me at my neighbourhood grocery store… didn’t want to drive the car while it is still soggy

picked up the few things I needed and walked home…

the leaves that were still on the trees/bushes were gorgeous…

this hedge was a lovely shade of red…

love the yellows and oranges in this section…

and then there are the trees that have lost all their leaves…

after all that I had a lovely nap, lol…

the sky has been phenomenal lately…

this morning it was breathtaking again…

the right side looking out the upstairs stairwell window…

the left side right after that…

as I stepped out of the house heading to the garage

at a stoplight driving downtown…

the seagulls were everywhere this morning… I’ve heard that if you see a bunch of them it is going to rain… and it did rain a number of times throughout the day… happily every time I was out, the sky had just cleared up from one of the downpours, lol…

miss carpooling because, as a passenger, I could always get pictures along the way when I saw something special… now, it is rare when I have the chance to take a photo…

happy to have the fish back in the house…

I talk to them…

they swim around and look hungry…

I feed them and they race around gulping down the food… but they are company

the tiny ones are currently living in a bowl because they might be food for the others if they went into the tank

but they appear to be growing

had a lovely few minutes when I got home… walked into the living room to put away my purse…

the light was shining into the room and I went and got my phone so that I could take some pictures…

spent a wonderful few minutes taking shots of the various flowers in the light

the sunlight was gorgeous as it streamed into the space…

the mandevilla is struggling with being in the house and the buds are opening in a very strange fashion…

love this picture of the new orchid with some of the blossoms in the light and some in shadow…

on Sunday my son-in-law adjusted my timers so they would come on a bit earlier… it has been great to come downstairs in the morning and have it light… but tonight it was dark…

apparently one of the bulbs is burnt out… not sure I have a replacement… guess I’ll be sorting that out, lol…

the lack of light and sunshine drags me down…

when I got home tonight I was exhausted and had a nap before even thinking about dinner…

when I woke up I made sesame tofu banh mi with enoki mushrooms, pickled vegetables and sweet soy glaze…

it was the final meal from last week’s ChefsPlate box… good thing because this week’s box arrives tomorrow, lol…

opening the bag is a bit like Christmas and the excitement starts to build as each piece comes out…

reading the directions and following the steps in order is fun and gave me energy…

it turned out very tasty… although a little spicy… might not put all the chili peppers in the next one…

and the great news is that tomorrow’s lunch is all ready;-)…

tonight I gathered with a wonderful group of women…

we had a lovely dinner of sweet potato and bison chili with a salad and lovely fresh bread…

during our meal we checked in with one another and when we finished we spent a wonderful hour colouring mandalas

we talked about everything as we coloured…

same picture, same coloured pencils, completely different outcomes… all beautiful…

first thing I saw this morning was this stunning sky…

the colour in this picture is accurate… amazing… brought joy to my heart

drove to the Formal Gardens at Assiniboine Park to walk and collect poke balls… one side of the garden was filled with parked cars

there were tons of kids playing everywhere, but it took a while to figure out that an Ultimate tournament was going on… the other side of the Gardens didn’t have any cars, lol…

decided to walk the loop in the opposite direction than I usually do because so many cars were coming into the area…

it was chilly, but not too bad as long as I kept moving… and I had dressed warmly…

as I was taking pictures of the berries on this tree it occurred to me that a dear young friend and her daughters might be somewhere in the Park playing… they were and we found one another and had a visit while the girls played a game… got this shot of geese flying overhead during the game…

she said the sweetest thing when she introduced me to someone… she called me her mom of the heart

it was a great treat to spend time with her and we stood for an hour or so and I didn’t feel too cold until I left and got back into the car when I realized how cold I was…

after a few errands it took me quite a while and a few extra blankets to get warm again…

the kids came for dinner and the final surprise was my youngest grandson helping me download and play a new game and giving me a big hug as they were leaving…

day filled with special moments

kettle…

I love my tea in the morning… there isn’t time on weekdays to make it at home, so I have tea at the office…

on weekend mornings the first thing I do is fill my kettle to make a pot…

every time I take it out of the cupboard and fill it with water I think abut my dear friend Dobby who bought it for me after my hysterectomy in 2012… I wasn’t able to lift anything for many weeks afterward and my usual kettle was twice as heavy…

she stayed and looked after me for a week and fed me, entertained me and reorganized my freezer while she was here…

it made all the difference to my recovery as I was still struggling with pain and couldn’t even go up the stairs… she made lovely bits of food to encourage me to eat and helped me get outside to sit and enjoy the sun and fresh air…

so every time I see the kettle I think of her wonderful care…

and now I also remember fun with family…

this summer I went camping with my kids for a few weeks and I took along the kettle… it became a lifesaver… the first site we were at didn’t have electricity so I’d go to an empty site early in the morning so I could make a thermos of tea… then I realized that if I just put the hot water in the thermos there would be water for the tea I wanted and the coffee the kids like, but needed quite a bit later, lol… it also came in handy to heat up water for dishes…

at our second location we had two sites, one with electricity and one without… we’d put the kettle on the table by the power to heat for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and dish water and would run back and forth to get it for whatever we were working on… lots of fun…

this morning I had a raspberry smoothie with my tea…

great memories

thank goodness it is the end of the day on Friday

since April my work schedule has been Monday to Thursday …

as of today, for the next while, I am back to working every weekday except the first Friday of each month…

this has been a long and busy week even though it didn’t start until Tuesday… next week is small business week so there are many activities going on throughout the province and we are involved in many of them…

early mornings and late nights and this morning I started the day with an appointment at the dentist…

rather tired and hoping that the coming weeks will be a little less hectic…

had a long chat on the phone after I got home and then decided to make soft boiled eggs for supper… it was very tasty and just the comfort food I needed…

sunset Thursday evening…

up and out very early this morning for a work event…  it was really dark

no birds out and about at this hour, lol…

the parking lot was empty but I got a nice shot of the church steeple

we all enjoyed the turkey vegetable soup at lunchtime… there was a single bowl left… always a good sign…

when I arrived home the ChefsPlate box was at the garage door… was really tired but decided I would make one of the meals…

chose smokey pork meatballs over cracked wheat with sautéed Brussels sprouts and peppers… really appreciate the clear directions

took about thirty minutes to pull it together… it was delicious and I have lunch for tomorrow…

as I lay watching some PVRed shows I am enjoying the beautiful moon through the window… didn’t even bother to take a photo…

enjoying the moment;-)…
