a busy weekend;-)…
on Saturday we went to see Raised by Women at PTE… it was our last play of the season…
it was a seventy minute performance by the playwright Keith Barker… he did a great job and the time went by quickly as he held everyone enthralled with his stories…

so excited today to get my new winter boots…
the pair I’ve been wearing for well over twenty years have begun to fall apart in front of me;-(…
I wanted Canadian-made and decided to try Vessi… besides being made in BC, they are also waterproof…
I had hoped to try a pair on and went to the mall, but they aren’t carried in Manitoba…
so, I took a chance and ordered them online and was pleased to get free shipping…
I ordered them last week and they arrived today…
and they fit… I was worried as often when I’ve tried pull-ons, they wouldn’t go over my ankles, but I had no problem… yay…
now they will get put away for when the snow starts in the Fall and the falling apart pair will sadly head to the landfill…

had another solo visit to The Leaf on Friday as I’d read that the flowering trees in the current display area were nearly finished blooming due to the heat…
I was surprised at how many people were there as I expected everyone to be outside enjoying the 17° C gorgeous weather…
as I entered the Tropical Biome I had to stop and wait a minute for the fog to clear from my glasses, lol…
happy to see the tiny flowers on two of the three cacao trees…
everything looked lush amidst the cooling mist that seems to be keeping the flora happy… quite surprised at how much the plants have grown… just last week it was easy to see all the way to the waterfall and now it is blocked again…
fun to watch one of the zoo keepers feeding the koi as I don’t often get to see that;-)…
the Mediterranean Biome had many flowers and the Babs Asper Display area held lots of plants, flowers, small trees, topiaries, and a truck filled with tulips…
the Butterfly Garden was busy with butterflies flitting about happily as they enjoyed the sunlight… the misting machines were also busy adding to the humidity and it felt very warm, lol…
so lucky to have this amazing place to visit;-)…

it was gorgeous out yesterday…
sat out on the deck and read for a while and then, when I got too hot (!!!), I worked on the back deck…
moved a few pieces of furniture and swept all the dead cedar and bunny poop off of it, although the tarp is still frozen into the ground in a few places…
before long we will be able to sit out there in the afternoons;-)…
I was just thinking about how great this season is as there are no bugs and about five seconds after that thought, a fly landed on my leg, lol…

shhhhh… the snow is gone from the front yard…
and I finally took a few minutes to straighten up the rain barrel which had been blown over weeks ago from some of the crazy winds we’d been having…
now we are ready for some rain;-)… and plants popping up from the ground…

finally made it outside for a walk…
it was overcast and around +2°C…
had on my sandals, gloves, a toque, and a spring jacket…
walked by some infill housing construction but happily didn’t get my shoes too muddy…
lovely to be outdoors… I was watching for signs of spring and was happy to see the water flowing in parts of the creek, although closer to home the creek was still ice-covered…
did find these cute little snowdrops…
but that was it… guess it is going to be a while yet before things start to pop up;-)…

we went to Aquasize today… we were happy because we found the lockers that returned your quarter… I’d put all my possessions into the locker, before I realized that there was no safety pin on the key…
I had a towel above the locker, so I placed the key inside it and saved having to change lockers… when we left I advised the front desk staff and they will have it fixed…
and I wore my sandals for the first time… actually had on socks when we went but didn’t wear them on the way home;-)…
yay…

the sky was beautiful this morning when I looked out the window first thing…
a few minutes later I got another view…
the clouds were very interesting…
a bit later I watched geese flying low overhead as they headed out for a meal;-)… they were moving quickly and my phone was in my pocket…
but it is also great to just watch them and not worry about capturing a photo;-)…
the sky is so wonderful…

yesterday, we lifted the tarp and moved some of the furniture out from under it…
chairs for the table found their way onto the deck and the second wicker chair made it up there as well…
a couple of tables moved onto the lower deck and the butterfly chair moved across that deck as I continue to search for the correct spot for it;-)…
the tarp is still on the back deck and some of the remaining furniture is frozen to the wood…
can’t wait to sit back there;-)…

I was up late to watch an F1 race and got a notification from the doorbell camera advising there was an animal in view…
checked the app and spotted a deer, so I raced downstairs and watched a deer looking for a snack beside the cedar…
watched and followed it across the yard to the bird feeder…
and spotted a second one;-)… it was entertaining to watch their antics as they tried to get the sunflower seeds out of the feeders…
while I was watching, three more came into view👀…
such a treat to be able to watch them until all five headed off to follow the creek over towards the airport…
because I don’t pay for a subscription, the camera only shows the past three hours before activities vanish, so I don’t always get to see them, lol…
