murse…

as I was heading out of the driveway took a shot of the roses which are just starting to open…

rather funny because the flower bed they are in is nearly completely overgrown with grass… hoping to get some help soon to clean this bed up… but great to see the blooms, lol…

caught sight of this just before reaching the office…

a man with a very lovely murse, or man purse… not a great pic because I took it through the front window of the car…

reminded me of my beloved… he carried a murse for years… well before it was the cool thing to do… used to drive the girls crazy, particularly when they were teenagers…

looking at the rest of the garden today I am really missing him… he loved the garden and worked in it all the time… much harder worker than I out there… can see that now

serendipity…

been thinking about serendipity a lot lately…

on Saturday as I was heading downstairs from the second floor, I looked out the window and spotted a goldfinch at the feeder…

was able to run down, grab my camera and get a few pictures… didn’t see it again for the rest of the day, or since then…

tonight I walked home after dinner out with my BS buddies, and this little bunny ran across the street in front of me…

and then sat there giving me time to get out my phone and take a picture…

part of it is about being in the moment and making the most of it, ie taking the time to see what is around you…

quiet day, well except for the thunder… and the rain…

this was the sky in two directions around ten this morning…

dark and brooding toward the west…

but it looked like it was clearing to the east… not true, lol… rained off and on all day…

my lunch included the last of a bbq grocery store chicken… bought it about a week ago and have been eating it since then… made dinners, a few work lunches, and some meals over the weekend… a friend who has had a difficult year talked about how she had lived on these for months on end as it was a healthy option that didn’t involve a great expenditure of energy to produce…

my goal for the last year and a half has been to ensure there are veggies at every meal… so for this lunch I made gazpacho… pretty happy with how many vegetables I got into it… celery, sad grape tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, mini peppers and basil from the (very wet!) deck… tasty…

chose outfits and packed my bag… hoping I have enough cool clothes as apparently it is very warm in Atlanta…

yesterday I picked up a top and couple of pairs of shorts to add to the mix…

barely taking anything that is purple… still need to find something in case it is cold…

yesterday I had my hair freshly purpled

George always loved how it just popped when the sun shone on it… it really does glow in the sunlight… needed it, because it was barely visible…

took this picture of one of the purple blooms by the back door…

today, got my toes done…

took my own polish because last time they didn’t have any good shades of purple…

not sure if that was wise because two of my toes smushed way after I got home… good news was I had polish to fix them… although the polish is very old… I assumed it would stay good forever but I guess we will see…

this morning I took this picture of the irises beside the pond which just opened… the Veronica (speedwell) is blooming very nicely along the neighbour’s garage…

fair bit of purple today, lol…

all ready for my trip… well, once the bags get packed, lol…

woke up to pouring rain… figured I wasn’t going to get a walk in today…

couple of hours later the rain had stopped, the sun was out, and the temperature was in the 20s…

so I got dressed and headed to the Park…

had a wonderful time wandering through the Gardens

light and shadow brought out some lovely shots I think… I’m not crazy about peonies but these were lovely…

tiny drops of water on the irises… the blue really popped today…

a different type of peony, I think… with a visitor… coming every Friday is such a great gift because I see the changes that have taken place since the last visit…

the water lilies are already blooming… also got to see lots of dragonflies

back at the lily pond found five or six frogs sitting on lily pads…

today I spoke to every person who I passed… nice opportunity to speak out loud… some days I might not speak to another person for the entire day… interesting who spoke back and who didn’t… most people responded and often we would talk for a moment about the day or the beauty around us…

the lilacs were so fragrant I could smell them everywhere in the Gardens… nice…

gorgeous huge poppy… amazing how many plants have been replaced where the tulips had been… those gardeners work very hard… wish I had them to work in my garden…

last shot was of the Duck Pond, just before I crossed the bridge out of the Park…

decided to take the path along the lane and through Bruce Park… it was very warm and a bit humid so I thought there would be a bit more shade… there was certainly more mud… ground was rather wet…

on top of that I had worn my newest pair of sandals… was trying them out for next week’s Altanta trip… good thing I tested them because I had blisters when I arrived home… guess they won’t be going in the suitcase, lol…

delightful time…

took a moment fairly early this morning to take a picture of the lovely pansies in the hibiscus pot… there is also a bloom coming on the hibiscus…

they just have such happy little faces… always bring a smile to my face when I see them…

then at noon I had lunch with these two amazing women… we’ve been taking our lunch out to the Park on sunny days and enjoying the outdoors…

the Park is right behind our office but I must say sometimes people look at us oddly as we walk along the sidewalk with our plates of food…

been talking lately about learning and understanding our authentic self… always an interesting topic… some days I can face up to my frailties and other days I am able to accept how great I can be…

heard something recently that I am going to work toward… focus on your strengths and let go of your weaknesses

early this morning I discovered a dragonfly in the kitchen… found a container, slid it in and popped it outside… kind of fun to find it and be able to deal with it…

took a walk around the garden and found a few lovely things…

purple flowers on the eggplant… looking forward to some fruit… also love the cute pansies in the background…

and I spotted some blooms on the little iris

they are likely going to be purple too, lol…

watered all the pots and planters with rain water which also helped with my step count…

sure do appreciate having a few minutes to enjoy the garden first thing in the day…

had a bit of a giggle as I drove through pouring rain on my way home… guess I didn’t need to do that early morning watering

this morning I drove to the office with some mums for company…

the base was wrapped in one of my cloth bags, in case the person getting them was in the office when I arrived… although they weren’t really hidden, lol… but they were lovely company for me and brightened up the drive…

and then I spotted a hot air balloon gently floating across the sky… want to take another ride in one of those…

what a treat

before leaving home I checked out the poppy bloom in the garden… the sun was shining on it and made for a beautiful picture…

recently had a conversation about being a mum and how rewarding it can be… and some of the differences amongst children and their responses to life…

able to enjoy some time in the sunshine…

remembering to spend time outdoors when it actually shines helps keep me happy

here’s how the day has gone…

when I arrived home tonight, after seven, I found the back door ajar

cleaners were here mid afternoon… so, likely it’s been unlocked for three hours…

I didn’t even hesitate to go in… or even bother to look around for intruders… clearly it just didn’t get closed properly…

then I looked out the window and saw this…

went out and spent a few minutes enjoying the poppy flower… it’s a beauty and may be the only one this year as I don’t see any other buds in the garden…

the year George died there were over forty blooms… never had that many flowers before or since

really happy that I saw it because they are usually a single day flower… might be gone tomorrow…

ups and downs, lol…

spent a good portion of the day in the garden… mowed the backyard and managed to have two meals outside…

also did a bit of planting

worked on some planters at the front

this one is still in the backyard and I am going to have to figure out how to get it to the front… it is really heavy, lol…

filled and hung my new feeder at the front of the house…

looks beautiful

this little guy was in the pond

it snowed elm seeds all day long…

the sky is getting a bit darker as the evening progresses… hope it doesn’t rain…
