was so happy to get the fish moved outside on Sunday…

partly because they are very happy when they are out there… and partly because the pond is much more alive when I am sitting by the edge of it… and I love watching them…

but in the morning I am a bit lonely because there are no friends swimming around and keeping me company… last thing in the evening I would feed them before heading to bed…

has been very quiet as the tank is empty and the rather noisy pump is turned off…

made sure to water all the plants and flowers tonight as they wait their opportunity to move into the garden

maybe tomorrow night I will plant the dahlia tubers in a couple of pots and get them started in the house… I love dahlias and am excited to see them blooming throughout the summer…

also picked up a new gazing ball, that glows in the dark, when we were at Shelmerdine on Sunday… need to get it outside soon…

met with my ReImagining friends tonight…

almost didn’t go because I was worried about the drive home after our gathering… put on the big girl pants and went anyway…

after a great dinner we spent some time focusing on dealing with change… great book and good conversation…

once I got my directions straight I headed for home, on the Perimeter… still have trouble with east and west, lol…

everyone knows that I dislike (previously would have used the word hate) highway driving, but thought this would be the best route…

as I drove, the sky was absolutely beautiful… didn’t have a chance to get a picture but enjoyed watching the sun set…

made it home, safe and sound, and in good time too…

wonderful day… early morning hot tub and a walk to the Park where I wandered around the English and Leo Mol gardens…

got some pictures of the undone gardens and am looking forward to taking pictures from the same spots as the summer progresses… was thinking about how cool it would be to see inside the Park’s greenhouses

checked out the Duck Pond and spotted a few ducks and geese, but not many yet…

on my walk over I spotted four mallards in our creek… didn’t see the wood ducks though…

kids picked me up and we went to a number of stores and greenhouses… got some baskets of flowers and a great collection of pond plants… made me very happy because if you don’t pick them up early you might not find any… too cold for them to go out yet, but the counter in the dining room has become a lovely little greenhouse

had a teenburger for lunch and picked up the fixings for steak and shrimp for our dinner…

Jeff and the boys caught the fish in the tank…

and then moved them into the pond, carrying on grandpa’s tradition… he always loved taking them outside after the long winter in their condo…

had a number of conversations with my Ottawa kids and spent the entire day with my kids here…

the boys cleaned up after dinner and I am now prone on the bed watching tv…

worn out, lol…

last night I was at the computer and for some reason decided to see if George’s obituary was still online…

it was, and I cried as I read it and the condolences that people wrote online about my beloved

was at Rona today to look for a planter pot and saw a few people who had worked with him, although most of them seemed to be new… things change in three years… it was a scratch and save day and I remember how he always had to work on those Saturdays and Sundays…

picked up a few African violets for the office… also got a pink mandevilla

all of these reminded me of the many flowers George has brought me over the years…

also picked up some solar lights which I put outside to see if I turned them on correctly…

tried on lots of clothes but only found two things I liked… a nice pair of soft pants to wear around the house and some cute purple shorts…

came home and took it easy for the rest of the day…

will be missing my beloved tomorrow…

early this morning the sky was looking very ominous

on our drive downtown we wondered what the weather would have in store for us…

been a full week and I decided to treat myself to supper… ordered from Clay Oven through Mobile Maitre’d… great to be able to have it just turn up… and it was delicious… enjoyed every bite…

spent time today thinking about what I do… it is quite a gift to do something you enjoy every day, with people you want to be around… doesn’t happen to everyone…

mainly overcast and cold during the day, but just took this shot of the sky…

nice way to end the week…

been feeling a bit guilty that the fish are still in their winter condo

told them, last week, that they were heading to the pond as it appeared to be leak-free…

when the kids were here my son-in-law felt it was still too cold for the big move…

the pond is looking great and the time is coming fast when they will be relocated…

this weekend, for sure…

think they are worried that they won’t ever get out there, lol…

had a great evening…

friend came over, brought dinner, cookies and petunias… with an appetizer of chips, lol…

after supper we worked on a database program… had to work in the living room using the power cord that has the three-prong plugs… had a computer and a printer hooked up…

great fun as we learned what it could do, while entering information… still need to figure out a few things…

really enjoy working with new technology and helping others figure it out..

this afternoon I ordered a set of straps for my fitbit…

this was rather fun because I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time…

I had purchased a violet strap which has developed a tear so I’ve been wearing my black strap, but really missing the pretty one…

when my Ottawa kids were here last June, my son-in-law picked up a power bar with USB ports in it… he attached it to the wall by the couch in the living room and tied up all the cord… very tidy…

I use it all the time to charge my fitbit, and even my phone when I need it to be on the main floor…

my fitbit has been a great help for me… since I got it I’ve tried to make sure I met my step goal every day… since my diabetes diagnosis it has helped keep track of other exercise and I have combined it with MyFitnessPal which records my food intake…

technology is pretty cool…

well, today was more like it… second day of my .9 time and a beautiful one…

slept in a bit and had a leisurely breakfast… headed out and got a few errands done… even booked an oil change for the car…

new shoes, bra, swimsuit and groceries…

nice haul… once I got home I took a walk around the creek…

saw a wood duck couple and got a few pictures…

very exciting because we’ve only seen mallards in the creek… the mallards have been nesting here for the last thirty years…

here’s the fella… beautiful

later, spent a bit of time weeding the front flower bed… the rubber mulch isn’t doing quite what I was hoping for… grass is still coming through, sigh…

beautiful day… looking forward to many more like it:-)…

mainly a sunshiny day but I spent a bit less time in the garden…

made potato salad this morning and cooled it in the fridge… have read a number of articles suggesting that cooking potatoes, rice or pasta and then cooling it, does something that changes the structure to “resistant starch” which reacts like fibre and doesn’t cause a spike in blood sugar…

took out the Japanese Maple and set it behind the waterfall…

sadly, had to bring it back in when I noticed that the temperature is going to 2 Celsius tonight… don’t want all those lovely leaves to die back…

not quite as warm as yesterday…

needed a blanket while I was reading, but I stayed outside as long as I could…

got this shot of the tree next door as the leaves come out… lots of the seeds are coming down too…

still see a gaping hole in the sky when I look up even though it has been at least seven years since the other elm tree had to be taken down… it had provided shade in our backyard from the time we moved into our house in 1973…

trees are so special…
