quite a while ago my neighbour brought me a birdhouse that he had made from leftover fence bits…

it was very cute but I left it on the deck and it fell over and the perch broke off… a friend was here and took it home so that her partner could repair it…

recently got it back and found a spot to hang it up…

looks nice… now to see if someone moves in;-)…

went to IKEA on Saturday… hadn’t been for ages…

it was fun to wander through the store and check out all the stuff…

was happy to replace the wisk that stopped working while my daughter was visiting… it is very handy for combining chocolate in warm or cold milk;-)…

the other item I found was a new jug for making suntea… the one I’ve been using didn’t have a lid and it was plastic…

this one is glass, but quite light and it has a cork stopper… it also fits very nicely in the fridge as it is much thinner than the plastic one…

I think it was a good purchase;-)…

in May, I was very happy to be able to get some veggie plants delivered from Jonathan’s Farm

amongst them were some very nice beefsteak tomatoes, which for some reason I keep calling beefeater, lol…

I planted one in a pot on the deck and it produced a lovely large tomato which has gotten more beautiful by the day…

last night I got a fresh loaf of bread and today I picked the tomato and made a delicious tomato sandwich…

yum, what a wonderful treat;-)…

the bathtub needed to be re-caulked so we picked up some silicone while we were out the other day…

after cleaning the edges off we went looking for the caulking gun… without success… I’m sure it will turn up one of these days…

happily, our neighbours’ lent us theirs and the job got done…

later I was checking it out and realized that it was vanishing… only to learn that, even though it went on white, it ended up clear, so it was actually just drying, lol…

too funny…

enjoyed some delicious fish and chips Thursday…

a dear friend, who I have not seen for ages, came for dinner and brought the treat…

it is our pattern to always have fish and chips as it is one of our favourites, lol…

we had a wonderful visit and I also had leftovers for my lunch the next day;-)…

such a special time…

picked up this week’s bouquet subscription on Thursday…

thanks to my friend, after we stopped at the Wolseley Farmers Market where we picked up fresh veggies, we headed to River Heights to get the bouquet…

it is always fun to choose which bouquet to bring home…

such a treat…

the other night we went to a Candlelight Concert at the Planetarium… fun to get out…

a string quartet played music from Queen as well as a few opera pieces…

it was lovely and we enjoyed it…

we also decided we’d like to attend one of the actual planetarium shows, lol…

barking…

we have new neighbours…

they seem like a lovely couple, but they have two dogs…

the dogs bark whenever they see or hear me in the garden… or if there is any activity in the area… if another dog barks, they bark, if someone goes down the lane they bark… if someone gets too close to the front of their house, they bark…

the former residents had a dog, but it was taught not to bark, and I knew the words they used, so I was able to reinforce their training… so it didn’t bark at me after a very short while…

I asked if there were any specific words to use to stop the barking, but apparently they don’t have any…

I am hoping that these dogs will eventually accept that I am not a threat and will stop with the barking whenever I move around the garden…

I have been trying to sit very still as I read or watch the nature around me…

wish me luck…

strange happenings with the milkweed…

I am very happy as they continue to multiply

not too many caterpillars, and they seem to nest on the plants closer to a wall rather than the ones nearest to the pond… maybe there is more protection from predators there… too bad for me, as pictures are easier beside the pond, lol…

the odd thing is that the plants along the edge of the pond, all with the same origin, have produced two different coloured flowers…

the usual pink/purple flowers…

and these white ones which are turning yellow…

will be interesting to see what they do next year, lol…
