I was wanting some comfort food recently and couldn’t think of what I wanted…
eventually I decided on Kraft Dinner… hadn’t had any in ages, but had a box in the pantry;-)…
it was delicious and just what I needed…
funny what can provide comfort when you are craving it…

had some fun today during my shift in the butterfly garden;-)…
there were a number of butterflies flying around as they were heading off to their night time roosts…
also enjoyed a trip through the Mediterranean Biome…

had a bit of a laugh last week when we had our gathering…
currently one of us is away, so we added her by phone to our time together…
I connected the phone to the charger to be sure there was sufficient charge to get through the call…
was thinking how clever I was, until after the call when I realized that I hadn’t turned on the power to the extension cord, lol…
this week I remembered;-)…

and so, after seventeen days, the 2026 Olympics are over, sigh…
it was a delight to watch so many different sports, including some new ones, and learn about the individual athletes… I can no longer pick a particular favourite sport because so many are riveting… could not be more proud of all of our athletes who represented us so well…
there will likely be some withdrawal pains over the next few days…
now to get back to reading, and actually leaving the house, lol…
I am blessed…

thinking back to Tuesday’s pancake supper…
besides the lovely pancakes, I made a potato pancake with the last little bit of batter to which I added a shredded potato…
topped it with sour cream and a slice of bacon…
this continues to be my favourite pancake;-)…

yesterday morning I started prepping for supper…
I sliced strawberries and then added sugar to macerate them…
later in the day I pulled out the pancake recipe from a well-worn cookbook and got the dry ingredients ready…
once my housemate brought home milk, I finished the mix and started cooking…
microwaved some bacon on the side and whipped the cream…
the first batch of pancakes came out perfectly… mine came from the second batch and may have been a bit darker, lol…
what a delicious dinner;-)…

we’ve been a bit remiss in clearing the back decks on the way to the gate and garage, sigh… and it has become rather dicey when I’m getting into and out of the hot tub🤪…
it had gotten very rough and slippery so we tried a few weeks ago to chip away at it… unfortunately it was still too cold and the snow and ice were rather deep…
Sunday, I went out in the afternoon when it was quite warm (-2° C with windchill)… I took out one of the small, metal shovels from the beautifully organized wall in the garage and spent a half hour or so removing the slush and chunks of wet, snowy, ice, clearing a path to the garage side door (almost), hot tub, and driveway gate… due to winter ground heaving in the garage, we aren’t using the side door just now…
it was lovely out and I took my time with constant breaks…
it is down to the wood now, and will likely dry up nicely…
fingers crossed;-)…

thinking about what a great week it has been and how fortunate I am to be able to adjust my sleep schedule to watch different Olympic sports when they are happening…
CBC Gem has proved a real treat… there are many sports covered so it is easy to find and watch the ones I am most interested in… although, sometimes there are too many live options, lol…
in previous years you were at the whim of a few tv stations as to what was shown, and when…
lots of live watching, my favourite kind;-)…

I’ve been going out to the hot tub for the last week or so…
it had been a long time since I’ve been out there because the weather had caused the lid to freeze over…
last night when I came in there was some Olympic replays of the day on which I watched as I air-dried on the bed, lol…
then it was off to sleep so getting up at 3:30 am wouldn’t seem too tiring;-)…

been laughing a bit as I had to move the hyacinth into the living room because the scent got too strong in the den, as it is a small room…
as of Thursday, I have been smelling it on my way down the stairs…
when I went to take its photo, the bloom was leaning way over, so full of buds…
put in a chopstick to help hold it up and got a few photos…
