since August 26th, I’ve been watching a water lily flower bud… first noticed it about four inches under the water…

once it reached the water level, it has come up about an inch and then popped back under the water… then it would reemerge and finally it rose about two inches out of the water…

it finally opened on Tuesday, September 2nd, on a very cool, overcast, and windy afternoon… certainly, not a day to sit by the pond😢…

since then it has remained closed up…

hoping the weather turns warm and sunny before it returns below the surface…

so excited last Wednesday to discover a water lily bud… I had pretty much given up hope of seeing one this year…

throughout the day I took photos as it worked towards opening…

it was at its peak on Saturday…

today it is getting ready to slide under the water… as the next bud begins to open…

what a wonderful treat as we move into cooler weather…

talk about blessed…

but even happier to see that the Virginia creeper has started to bud out…

so happy to see the Japanese Maple budding out with new leaves…

for a little while there I was thinking that it was really done…

this maple has travelled from Vancouver Island across the prairies in the back seat of a car, which makes it special… sometimes I have been a bit slow to bring it into the house in the Fall… thought for a short time I’d really messed up…

so I was very happy to see those leaves…

Spring really is coming…
