spent Sunday setting up the Christmas tree…

first I had to move the plants in the front window to other spots and move two tables out of the way…

then I spent some time removing two strings of lights… one that didn’t work and one that I restrung on the tree…

then, six or seven boxes came upstairs and were gone through to see what was in them and decide on the theme for this year’s ornaments…

chose glass pieces that have rarely been out since my beloved’s passing…

once it was decorated, I was advised that it needed more purple🤪… can you believe it, lol…

so I added more purple…

tried to make napkins shaped like trees;-)…

they would have been better with green fabric, but this was what I had to work with, lol…

the first one came out not too bad, but after that, each one was different;-)…

apparently I need to practice for a while with the video in front of me…

on Wednesday I took all the ornaments off the trees in the living and dining rooms… the dining room one looked a little lonely and empty as it sat on the table…

the ornaments ended up on two tables and are still there, lol… but I have washed out a bin and it is drying as I write this…

Thursday I brought up the box that the trees live in and was able to squash them in…

then I taped it closed and was able to get it downstairs but not onto the shelf where it lives… will have to wait for someone else to lift it up;-)…

the main tree went up… and I even put one into the dining room…

a dear friend came over and decorated the one in the living room…

she did a great job, as always… especially since I didn’t contact her until noon once I decided that was the day, lol…

I brought up many, many, boxes of ornaments which we went through and decided on what to use this year…

once she left, I worked on the dining room tree and put most of the leftovers back downstairs…

in the morning I put up the snowflakes and put away the last bits and pieces…

I was especially happy when I found my embroidered snowflake picture…

which may have been hiding for a few years;-)…

a while back my youngest grandson and I were shopping and we spotted cherry flavoured candy canes… my favourite…

they’ve been stuffed up in the cupboard since then…

today after work, I pulled them out and put them on the tree…

there are sixteen of them and they fill the tree up quite nicely…

the plan is that when people are over they will take a candy cane when they leave;-)…

for many years I would make things to put on the tree for this purpose, but have simplified things, lol…

another lovely relaxing day…

got up, had some tea and watched a bit of TV… then I put on a few layers of clothing and headed over to the Park to meet some great women for brunch… enjoyed Eggs Benedict and wonderful conversation…

hadn’t seen these good women for quite a while, and was glad to be able to catch up on their lives… we have all gone through some tough times and compared this year’s Christmas stories…   I miss George enormously, but I shared how I can decide to do something, and I don’t have to get anyone else’s input – this can be a benefit sometimes…

on my way home I stopped and took a few pictures, and although it was overcast they came out fairly well… a few of them were of a favourite tree in the Park that we love to enjoy during the various seasons…

Crystal and the boys came over for supper and we had a good time, particularly when we got to eat some more of the demolished chocolate Christmas tree… I also got to hug someone I hadn’t seen for a while…

life is amazingly good, and today I enjoyed each moment…
