I’ve been watching this item in the Gift Shop at The Leaf for well over a week now…
on one of my spots, I would stare at it, through the exit doors, but when my shift ended, the shop would be closed…
I kept planning to stop in before starting my volunteer time, but kept forgetting…
until today…
lucky for me the shop stayed open past the end of my shift for an event that was happening at the event centre;-)…
and I came home with this lovely blanket… it is a monarch butterfly (which I love) and is soft and cozy…
I think it will be perfect when I start to sit on the deck as the weather gets warmer;-)…

today, on this International Women’s Day, I’ve spent time thinking of the many women who have influenced my life…
I wrote these words in 2017:
whether they are family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, or those I’ve seen from afar…
whether they are alive or dead…
whether they know it or not…
they have had a part in making me me…
I am blessed…
now, more than ever, in these difficult days, we need to support others as they move forward;-)…

and the little bouquet has changed a bit as the front vase moved to the back;-)…
it is also a birthday month in our family, lol…

been laughing a bit as I had to move the hyacinth into the living room because the scent got too strong in the den, as it is a small room…
as of Thursday, I have been smelling it on my way down the stairs…
when I went to take its photo, the bloom was leaning way over, so full of buds…
put in a chopstick to help hold it up and got a few photos…

yesterday morning, I spent a little while wandering around the house and adding in Valentine decorations…
in the living room (adding to the table which I did a few days ago), on the stairs…
in the bathroom, and the den…
on Valentine’s Day, I will make something special for my dinner, not sure what yet… my beloved and I would maybe have had steak and lobster or some special treat…
he was very romantic and always got me a rose and some little present to celebrate the day…
I’m always happy to do a bit of decorating around the house, and then spend time thinking about him on Valentine’s Day… I have been so blessed;-)…

went out for groceries and found three little heart pillows…
which I had to bring home;-)…
and I was also happy to find daffodils and hyacinth;-)… they came home too, lol…
since then I’ve moved them a few times…
everything is now in the den, as I am spending the majority of my time in there, watching the Olympics;-)…

Fleurs de Villes WONDER… what a delight;-)…
since January 15th I have done three volunteer shifts, visited four times with friends, and once on my own…
every time I went through the displays, I spotted more interesting details;-)…
we are so blessed to be one of the locations that Fleurs de Villes chooses to display at…
each year has been different than the previous one… it is also such a great opportunity for our truly talented Manitoba artists…
it was interesting to hear what visitors enjoyed the most on their visits, and how many felt it was nearly impossible to pick a favourite, as they were all special…
hope that we get the opportunity again next year…
I felt connected to three pieces immediately and by the end of my eight visits, I had voted for all of the three…
truly a gift;-)…

last week, when I visited Fleurs de Villes WONDER at The Leaf, for the first time, I was completely enamoured with the Aurora Borealis display…
it was filled with some of my favourite colours and just touched me immediately…
I was on a volunteer shift and got to see it in daylight (I started at 3, ended at 6), and under the lights…
since then I’ve watched a video about how it was made and learned more about it…
I also put up a photo on IG and got a note from Christine at Silver Heights Florist, the artist who designed and carried out this piece with assistance from others, advising she had a bouquet for me…
I picked it up yesterday and it has all the colours of the original display in it…
what a treat;-)…
if you have a chance you really should go and check out WONDER before it leaves…

had a wonderful time today with friends at The Leaf…
we travelled together and had a lot of laughs in the process, then checked out all of the displays, and had one of the volunteers take our photo…
ended the day with a lovely lunch and visit at Gather;-)…
dropped off one of us and had a short visit…
what a fun time we had;-)…
