went to the Wolseley Farmers Market with a friend and had a great time…
came home with a bag filled with beans, peas, green onions, a zucchini, baby potatoes, garlic, bread, a mushroom galette, and a beet and pesto treat…
and two gorgeous stalks of purple gladiola;-)…

besides being my support group, my friends bring me good luck…
I’ve only spotted swallowtail butterflies two or three times so far this summer and two of those were when they were over…
a few days ago I caught this long shot of one on the deck…
and then I found eggs on both of my parsley plants… which I only buy for the butterflies;-)…
maybe, just maybe, there will be caterpillars…
then I spotted this one… they sure move quickly, lol…

dragonflies have been flying around the garden like crazy…
some have been dropping eggs into the pond, but most of them are clearly snatching mosquitoes out of the air…
I’ve managed to catch a few when they are taking a little break;-)…

drove to Oak Street on Tuesday, just before the rain, to pick up my bouquet subscription…
I took a box that hooked into the seatbelt so that the flowers wouldn’t fall over… it worked perfectly…
such a treat to get fresh flowers every week… and they are lasting very well…
got a few photos as the drops started to fall…

the rain came down really heavy on Tuesday morning…
when I went out to check the garden I saw that one of the tomato plants had been knocked over… I was so shocked I didn’t even get a picture…
thankfully, I had a tomato cage in the garage, and it took a bit of finagling to get it over the plant… apparently it should have happened when the plant was much smaller, lol…
also pleased to see lots of flowers and the beginnings of the cucumbers;-)…

the other day I saw a monarch flying around the garden and laying eggs on the milkweed…
I went to check out the two milkweed plants that are just by the waterfall to see if any eggs had been left there…
and it was there that I discovered this little caterpillar… of course this is the hardest spot to get any pictures, lol…
and I was happy to still see it after the downpour…
nature is amazing…

had a morning walk around the garden the other day…
it is doing very well with lots of purple and green…
the side/vegetable garden is very happy… the peas and cucumbers in the new planter are especially happy… they are taller than me…
gathered fifteen pea pods from the vegetable garden and added the peas to my new potatoes and slice of ham for my dinner…

the clematis along the driveway has been amazing this year…
it had tons of buds on it and has spread very nicely on the trellis…
looked stunning once they all started to open…
it was just beautiful, but the rain and wind have since knocked a lot of flowers off…

moved a few planters and a chair on the lower deck…
haven’t decided if I like it or not…
and then this morning I rearranged again… I put the dahlia by the door and moved the begonias and columbine to the back of the garden where they will get the necessary shade… I may end up moving that planter beside the rain barrel, but will need help to get it up there…
guess I will live with it for a while and see…
