more fun today…

got to shop right in the office when a client brought in some nighties and pyjamas… she had a lot of purple and mauve, lol…

lovely colours and beautiful work… 

the most important thing for me is the feel of fabric… I have been known to feel an article of clothing on someone else without asking… 

chose a very soft nightie with little purple hearts… it is being shortened for me… seems like my favourite sleepwear is soft like a worn t-shirt but a bit longer… 

then it was off to Nick’s on Broadway…

have heard about this spot before but today was my first visit… been craving grilled cheese so ordered one which came with coleslaw and a pickle… it was okay, but not something I would order again…

great visit with a friend and former colleague… we’ve gone through some very complicated and stressful times together… always a treat to spend time with her…

back at the office had some success with computers and solved a few problems…

excellent day at work… fabulous brainstorming session followed by fun with technology in preparation for the evening’s training session…

when I arrived home I found this treat in the mailbox…

one of my favourite cookies… imperial cheese cookies made with Rice Krispies… just like a breakfast cookie…

friend came over for a visit, glass of wine and hot tub… couldn’t get much better;-)…

what a wonderful day off… not exactly as planned…

started with a walk around the pond at the Birchwood Automotive Group to see the geese… at first there were two and then three others arrived… little bit of  discussion amongst them before they became friends…

from there I headed off to lunch with a great friend who is having a birthday tomorrow… excellent meal and fun to be together…

always have lots to talk about, lol…

came home to find my sister-in-law had arrived from Calgary… it is always special when we have time together… before she moved to Calgary, besides spending family time, we also worked with one another… 

we ran out and did a bit of grocery shopping… she found this cute tray for me…

back home we had a snack and waited for my nephew to pick her up… once they left I had a nap and made dinner…

picked up a beautiful purple calla lily…

had a lovely lunch at a new restaurant down the street from the office…

met with a good friend and had a great visit while we caught up on our lives…

saw some great pictures of a recent trip and enjoyed a delicious meal…

on my way home after work I picked up bacon to go with the pancakes I made for my dinner for Shrove Tuesday…

last night I dug out the pancake recipe that we’ve used for forty years and sent it off to my daughter, so it was all ready for me tonight… I did add whole wheat flour to the recipe… came out pretty good…

watching skating on tv tonight and thinking of my dear friend Ellen…

when I come across a skating competition I still turn to grab the phone to give her a reminder call, lol… 

we would always call one another when one of the events came on to be sure the other knew about it… and once it was over we would spend time debriefing…

yesterday I took a picture of a chubby squirrel sitting on the top of the neighbour’s garage…

chattering away up there as I was taking the picture… never noticed the amount of white on them before… although maybe this one is just old, lol…

and this morning, as I headed out to the garage, I thought I saw something, but it wasn’t until I started backing out of the driveway that I actually saw the bunny running toward the road… critters always bring a smile to my face… well, maybe not spiders…

when I closed the garage door on my arrival home I noticed the hoarfrost had created some patterns on the window…

reminded me of a visit to a friend’s house a few years ago where I got some stunning pictures in her garage…

looking forward to seeing her before too long as she has a new addition to her family who I am very excited to meet…

this morning I used my new pen to write the inscription in a book that I had purchased as a gift…

got it from a dear friend last week…

writes very nicely and is a beautiful shade of purple…

spoke with her this morning to check on how she is doing… lovely to take a few minutes to catch up with a friend…

all day long, whenever I walked around the office, I would comment to everyone about how wonderful the sun shining through the windows was…

we haven’t had sunshine for weeks as it has been dull and overcast so it was great to see it…

so busy that I never did get a picture, but I sure enjoyed those moments…

since we’ve lived in our house, there have been four owners of the house next door…

when we moved in, the young couple were newly adoptive parents and then had another little one inside of eight months, so moved to a larger house close by…  we became friends and she cut my hair for years after they left…

then came our dear friend Ellen and her husband… they lived in the house for about 25 years and became family… looking after the girls, giving us breaks at mealtimes, babysitting on a regular basis when we went bowling, sharing meals, being a sounding board… we built a gate in the fence between our yards, lol… really missed her when they moved to a seniors complex… she died not long after that in 2009 and we spent a wonderful afternoon in the garden with friends celebrating her life…

then an older single woman moved in for about a year, followed by two young men… cousins who were both pilots… last year one got married and they recently had a baby… we didn’t connect that much with any of them…they moved out on Saturday…. 

the house is empty as it waits for the next owners to arrive…

wonder who will move in… hope we connect…

great day…

looked out the bedroom window first thing to see this little squirrel playing queen of the castle on the peak of the neighbour’s roof…

when I first noticed it, it was eating some fresh pine bits… never spotted one in this particular place before…

always feel so blessed when something serendipitous like this happens… a minute either way and I could have missed this sight…

at noon had lunch with an amazing friend… wonderful time together on the patio at The MET… gorgeous day for a meal outdoors…

tasty and healthy salad… 

besides getting to spend time with her, she brought me an adorable gift…

a tiny glass hummingbird from the Butchart Gardens just outside of Victoria, BC… one of my favourite places ever…

a person could spend days wandering around enjoying the beautiful landscape and gorgeous flowers there…

have to find just the right spot to hang it…

what a treat…

been an interesting day…

walked to the “A” for an early morning meet up with my walking buddy and my grandson…

after a great breakfast he walked here and she and I went to the Park for our usual walk through the gardens… had a lovely time together and we got to see the baby bunny again, although it has grown a bit…

I walked home and went out into the garden where my grandson was pulling weeds and was swarmed by wasps… only two bit me before we both dived into the house… it appears that a cantaloupe sized nest fell to the ground as I stepped onto the deck… after getting advice on a remedy we decided to work on the pond which was further away from the wasps…

my grandson did a great job… he removed the slate from one side of the pond and replaced it with fieldstone… 


then he used some of the slate to cover the pond liner completely… seeing it has been a pain…

he, like his father, and grandfather, likes to get right into the pond, lol… he was happily working away when he discovered a bloodsucker on his foot… 

at which point he got out and worked from the path…

but look what a spectacular job he did…


my beloved was absolutely the best when it came to putting the rocks in just the right spot and that knack seems to have been passed down… 

then we went in and caught the fish… well, with the help of my son-in-law, who arrived at just the right time, and with stuff to spray on the Yellowjackets’ nest…


after they left I put the fish into the pond…


they swam around, headed under the water hyacinth, and I haven’t seen them since…

after a nap friends came by, sprayed the wasp nest a bit more, and we went to their place for a Chinese food dinner… a wonderful treat…

pretty good way to spend a Friday…
