went through my fabric stash and filled a laundry basket with pass alongs…

there was about a ten year period where I collected fabric to use to decorate tables, rooms, etc… enjoyed the memories of when the various pieces were used… laughed as I remembered a colleague who used to call them my rags…

this basket had been filled to overflowing and still has quite a few items in it that I couldn’t let go, including a number of scarves… so happy to also find a few items that I didn’t even know were missing, lol…

visited outside with a wonderful young woman who came by to collect the stash and always makes me feel great…

looking forward to seeing what she produces;-)…

in January 2020 I decided to cutback on paper towel… I gave most of what I had away and only kept a few rolls…

I moved the one roll that was in the kitchen to the closet, so that it would be more difficult to get to…

I found a number of old towels and facecloths around the house and started using and reusing them… they sit on the microwave and when used go into a small bin that I have next to it, before heading to the laundry…

today I used the last piece from that roll and brought up another… wonder how long this one will last…

it is surprising how little you can use when you are thinking about it… next up will be the Kleenex…

over the last week I’ve been enjoying the sunlight…

in the morning it is shining into the den, which it hasn’t done for months…

and in the afternoon it now shines on the spot where I usually sit…

yesterday, I sat on the deck in the sunshine for an hour… and the sun was warm on my body…

spring is coming;-)…

one of the things that makes me the happiest is spending time taking photos of bouquets…

yesterday I spent a good portion of the day taking shots from all angles with my Nikon…

as the flowers open and close I will have more opportunities to get some beautiful photos…

flowers make me happy;-)…

a friend picked up a few items for me at Costco this morning and brought me some tulips…

they are beautiful and I divided them into four containers…

one is on the stairs ready to go to my bedroom… another is in the bathroom… a third in the den…

the final one is in the living room… they brighten up the whole space…

I am blessed;-)…

I seem to be in the midst of Spring fever…

spent time rearranging plants around the main floor trying to change it up a bit…

moved one of the orchids from the dining room garden to the living room window and placed it into a vase I received when I retired… I think I like it…

I clustered the African violets together and moved a fern from one spot to another…

it will be interesting to see if they all like their new locations…

I am also watching the mandevilla, which I think, has a bud starting… very exciting…

there was a whirlwind of activity in the kitchen a few days ago…

not sure what it was about, but went with the flow, lol…

after breakfast, I used the leftover half banana to make some overnight oats…

a bit later I produced a small batch of homemade macaroni and cheese which I will have over the next few days…

then I prepared sweet potato oven fries to go with my pickerel for supper…

wonder if I will have this much energy over the next while, or whether it was a one time event…

cut the blooms off the hyacinth plants yesterday morning… when I walked into the living room they were all hanging over the edges of their pots…

put the purple ones in the bathroom…

the yellow ones went on the ledge between the kitchen and dining room…

moved the pots into the dining room garden… a bit of additional green looks good… that garden is getting bigger;-)…

now the scent is everywhere on the main floor…

today, as I sat in the living room looking out the window I spent a few happy moments remembering the wonderful neighbours we have had over the years…

our next door neighbours became our very good friends… when the girls were first born they would take them home so that we could eat our supper without interruption… the girls would go over to their house to see if “Uncle Buzz could come out to play?” and he did… we fed them on Wednesday nights and they babysat while we went bowling… at one point Ellen produced a cookbook for each of them with all of the recipes she made that we all loved…

the neighbour across the street made Barbie clothes and we shared many meals and coffee on the deck…

the neighbour a few houses down the lane would come and help my beloved with whatever project he was working on and they had such fun together…

the neighbour across the back lane shared their pool…

these days we aren’t quite as close to the neighbours, as all of those have gone, but they are all kind and caring in their own way…

made me think of today’s contemplating card;-)…

maybe, if the world ever returns to some semblance of normal, I will have them all over for a meal and time together;-)…
