Friday was a great day in the garden…

first time this year I took the time to put out all the cushions… and then Hilda the Gardener arrived and began cleaning up the space… yay…

while she was working away, I climbed into the pond to reset the second pump and cover the cords…

next I brought out the water lilies from the tanks in the house and set them in the pond…

finally I caught and put three goldfish into the pond to see how they fared… maybe next week the rest will move out of the condo…

all in all a great day…

so happy that my friend, Hilda the gardener, came by last Friday for a drink, visit, and a haircut…

we spent a lovely hour chatting and laughing about life in general and gardens in particular…

then she dealt with the overgrown mess that was my hair, lol…

looks and feels so much better now;-)…

ensconced…

well, Wednesday was that day in the garden, sigh…

Hilda the Gardener came by and most of the planters in the front yard and garden were cleaned out…

as an experiment, a few plants which had been in the planters were put into the ground to see if we could reuse them in the spring… and we tried that with the strawberry basket as well…

everything looks tidy and ready for the next seasons…

I am going to miss time spent in the garden although I am so happy with how many days I was ensconced in the space…

there will be many wonderful memories to enjoy during those freezing cold days in the middle of winter…

but for now, here’s hoping for more beautiful days in this magical space;-)…

Wednesday was another beautiful day…

put out all the cushions as a dear friend was coming over later in the day, and it always looks so much nicer when they are all set out…

Hilda the Gardener came and weeded and moved a few plants… we had a lovely visit while that was happening…

I climbed into the pond and cleaned the filter which made the waterfall happy;-)…

read a good book and had lunch on the back deck with some of my ripe tomatoes and fresh basil…

had a delightful supper and visit with a friend I haven’t seen for ages and toured the garden with her…

also shared some poppy and morning glory seeds…

on Monday morning, Hilda the Gardener came by to weed the garden…

I had dug a pot out of the shed and had purchased and put together an obelisk… nothing seems to come all made anymore, lol…

my plan was to have her take the mandevilla off the old obelisk and replant it with the new obelisk… this should make it much easier to to bring into the house and move around as needed…

the pot I had found wasn’t the right size so she had to move some coleus from a pot that would be a better fit…

then she unravelled the old one and planted it in the new pot with the obelisk…

my job was to wrap the vines around the obelisk…

once that was done she finished weeding the side garden…

it always looks wonderful after she has worked her magic;-)…

and just minutes after she left the rain started, lol…

another great day in the garden…

it always looks particularly nice after Hilda the Gardener has been;-)… she spent a few hours in the morning weeding and trimming…

she also helped me move one of the bird feeders to a new spot closer to the pond where, just possibly, the squirrels won’t be able to get to it…

I am hoping that it isn’t so close that sunflower shells find their way into the water…

once she left, I watched sparrows having a garden party, testing out the feeders and enjoying drinks from the pond…

after a short nap, through the hottest part of the afternoon, I finished my book on the deck…

moved…

had a great time in the garden on Friday, planning the steps to get it beautiful…

spent the time with Hilda the Gardener and we discussed flowers, beds, and watering options… what is needed and where to locate plants… we even moved a few planters around in the front… i am now looking for two more black ones to add in… a bit later I moved the ones out that are going into the garden…

she will be back this week to start the spring cleanup process…
