started the morning with Hilda the Gardener, who arrived to do some maintenance in the garden… I’ve been thinking of the change that she has made to the space over the years;-)…
it always feels so fresh and tidy after her time here…
while she was working away, I picked beans and peas, and spotted some cucumbers starting, yay…
then a friend stopped by with a bag of books for me and I had a bag for her as well;-)…
we hadn’t seen one another for ages and had a great catch-up…
after they both left, I read and relaxed in this lovely space…
that is the day that some lovely young men come in the morning, and within about fifteen minutes, have mowed the front and back, trimmed everywhere, blown any grass from walkways, and left;-)…
and often it is the day (usually every second week now) that Hilda the Gardener comes to tidy up the gardens…
so I particularly take pleasure in the rest of the day in this delightful space…
on Friday I put out all the cushions and pillows as it was supposed to be sunny all day…
it is a bit of a process, because I put one out at a time, which helps me get steps, particularly as I spend a lot of time in the garden on my butt, reading…
it looked beautiful… the poppies, which don’t match my colour scheme at all, were blooming and dancing in the breeze and many of the pots and planters had flowers smiling…
I was surprised when my daughter arrived for a visit… she has been staying with a friend who has a lovely guestroom, lol… we spent a lovely time in this beautiful space, talking about everything and nothing…
she left and shortly after Hilda the Gardener arrived for some maintenance… we visited as she tidied up all the beds and pathways… it looks so nice when she is done;-)…
later as I was enjoying the space my daughter called and suggested we go to The Leaf…
I walked over to the other side of the bridge and she picked me up and we headed to the biomes…
we had a fun time checking out all the growth since she was here last year and had a lovely visit with the three cacao trees;-)…
it was a bit sad on Friday, when Hilda the Gardener came to put the garden to bed…
it always feels awful when the flowers that are still blooming get pulled out of the soil and pitched into the yard waste bags…
of course, it also makes me happy that everything is organized and ready for the next season… a number of plants went into the ground that had been in pots so they will overwinter before moving into pots, or new spots in the garden next year…
had fun on Saturday when Hilda the Gardener came to work in the garden… I’d been thinking a bit and had a few projects in mind… it is wonderful to have her here to do the heavy lifting;-)…
the creeping Charlie was removed from one of the beds and a few plants were moved around…
while she was doing that, I mixed soil and grass seed and filled a few low spots in the grass…
the lily of the valley and Virginia creeper were removed along the house in the veggie garden… I think we are going to add some hostas in this area… I am happy that we can separate plants rather than have to run out and buy new ones…
and the Virginia creeper around the gate was trimmed up…
we always like to take before and after pictures when we are working on some of the bigger projects;-)…
