went to Shelmerdine with a friend to pick up some items from a fundraiser she was connected with…

always a treat to wander through all the areas of the greenhouse… even found a little something for someone’s next year’s Christmas present…

this planter was so pretty and the balls were so nice, especially with the snow on them…

when I got home I hung the swag that came from the fundraiser on the front door… not sure if the cord needs to be shorter…

lovely treat;-)…

spent Sunday setting up the Christmas tree…

first I had to move the plants in the front window to other spots and move two tables out of the way…

then I spent some time removing two strings of lights… one that didn’t work and one that I restrung on the tree…

then, six or seven boxes came upstairs and were gone through to see what was in them and decide on the theme for this year’s ornaments…

chose glass pieces that have rarely been out since my beloved’s passing…

once it was decorated, I was advised that it needed more purple🤪… can you believe it, lol…

so I added more purple…

finally got around to changing the living room table…

it has been the same since springtime, yikes…

took a little while to put away the shells, crystals, stones and books, as well as the sarongs that had been on the bottom of each of the four areas…

next, I found the Christmas box that had all the smaller purple, silver, white, and clear ornaments…

filled three squares and then brought down three angels that have special meaning for me to complete the last spot…

I’m pleased with the result although I haven’t quite decided what goes on the top, lol…

visited Shelmerdine to pick up their special ornament for this year…

in previous years I had got a beautiful porcelain dove and one year I got the beautiful heart for some of my friends;-)…

the one for this year is holly leaves and berries in silver metal…

a friend had picked me up to go and afterwards we went out for lunch… I had bruschetta and it was very tasty…

then it was home for a nap, lol…

such a lovely treat…

have been busy working on decorating the house…

so far, the tree is up and has lights and ornaments on it…

once I decided on the tree, I chose some of my favourite silver and white ornaments as well as a few special ones…

I set it on a small table and put two pieces of fabric around it…

as I put the ornaments on I remembered when I first got them…

once the tree was done I added silver balls to the mandevilla…

came out very nice…

then I popped the orchids into the sleigh on the dining room table, added glass balls to the window, trees and stars to the plant section and stockings to the credenza…

got all of that done between Sunday and Monday afternoon so it looked sort of organized when my friends arrived, lol…

next up will be the trees going up the stairway;-)…

the Mediterranean biome smelled of rosemary and there were many of the plants growing all over the area… the Celebration installation was bright and shiny, with tons of lights on the trees and I was struck by some of the snowflake and icicle ornaments, so cute…

the many holiday trees, poinsettias, and amaryllis were beautiful;-)… the succulent tree is eye catching and I took quite a few photos of it…

I always like to visit the wollemi pine, a very rare tree known as the dinosaur tree…

sadly, we didn’t spot any butterflies in the Shirley Richardson biome…

a lovely visit…

what a treat to have this amazing place here in the city… a great replacement for the old Conservatory;-)…

redid the living room table on Thursday…

usually for the holiday season I’ve filled it with glittery purple, silver, and clear ornaments…

this time I decided to change up the display…

first I found a nice piece of fabric and then a a collection of some of my favourite ornaments which would usually be hung on the tree but instead went into the drawers…

I took the glass off the top of the table and filled it with the ornaments before carefully putting it back on…

then three sleighs were set on top… looks good…

on Wednesday I took all the ornaments off the trees in the living and dining rooms… the dining room one looked a little lonely and empty as it sat on the table…

the ornaments ended up on two tables and are still there, lol… but I have washed out a bin and it is drying as I write this…

Thursday I brought up the box that the trees live in and was able to squash them in…

then I taped it closed and was able to get it downstairs but not onto the shelf where it lives… will have to wait for someone else to lift it up;-)…
