was planning to go grocery shopping tonight but was just too tired…

guess I will be going on Saturday morning for the Easter dinner ingredients…

went shopping with my sister-in-law the other day… we picked up a few of her favourite things… one was a mini mozzarella in a herb-based oil… rather tasty…

really enjoy wandering through a grocery store with someone else… you get such great ideas of different things and ways to eat them…

it is especially good when you have fallen into that eating rut… you know, buying and cooking the same things over and over…

think that’s partly why I am enjoying the ChefsPlate meals… it’s an opportunity to consider and try different things… and without having to go to the store…

must find some others to hit the grocery store with…

today I wore a pink shirt for International Day of Pink… happened across the reminder while checking out my social media feed… had to run back upstairs and change, lol…

this was my treat tonight on my new tray which was sitting on the shirt… popcorn and the last two pieces  of the ki’xocolatl bar that we picked up at the Mazatlan airport… yummy…

had fun making my supper tonight… another ChefsPlate meal which went into the new bowl I picked up at the Chinese market last week…

Mediterranean Salmon with sun tomatoes and pearl couscous pilaf… also learned that Harissa is a hot sauce… not so wise to dip a finger in it to taste, lol… I like pearl couscous…

enjoying my flowers at home, as well as the ones at the office…

did giggle when I saw how the water in the vase had turned purple…

tonight’s final treat was a bowl of popcorn…

always have popcorn in my fish bowl…

funny how we like certain things in certain containers…

omg… about that noise the night before last… not nearly as bad as it seemed…

last night a group of young women in the campsite across from us were drinking when we arrived to set up… they continued throughout the night and at 4 am my daughter went over and asked them to turn off the music and quiet down… made me very nervous because these days you have no idea of what people might do in any circumstance…

they did settle down… but it certainly affected our night… did get to see the amazing Milky Way again, though…

took down our tent and went to the beach with the boat… met up with family and played with their toys…

at one point the sky got a bit serious with thunder and lightning…
pretty rough looking sky… didn’t stop the rides though…

there was a period of waiting and then we were able to get back on the water and have a bit more fun…

finally headed down the channel and took a few pictures of some cattails…

also caught this seagull having a nap…

tonight we have a large group around our fire… will have to be careful we don’t make too much noise…

we were lucky enough to get a spot for tonight as well, so we are enjoying this last night…

had popcorn made on the campfire… good, but delicious once it had salt and butter on it, lol…

fun day…

went to the Renovation Show with my daughter… we are OK, or so said the stamp on our hands, lol… didn’t get to see Brian Baeumler, but wandered around and picked up some very helpful information…

  
had quite a good time… picked up a couple of things…

  

a gelcool pillow which makes me very happy as it will make my head feel cooler so I don’t have to do my regular flip of the pillow in the middle of the night… 

also this beautifully designed toilet cleaner brush, which looks like a piece of art, or an arrow, as my grandson suggested…

and a new Tupperware measuring cup to replace the one I’ve been using to make popcorn, which is kind of ruined, lol… exciting because they have just reintroduced it…
found a new natural system for the hot tub… will use enzymes instead of the current chemicals I put in, and way less will need to be added… 

finally picked up a paring knife which fits my hand perfectly… been looking for one that is comfortable in my palm forever…

picked up the last few items for our taco supper, came home and finished it up… 

had quite the start this morning as I was chopping tomatoes… looked over and saw this…

 
nearly jumped out of my skin because I thought it was a spider… just the stem from one of the tomatoes, lol…

supper was gobbled up… I am so happy when everyone enjoys our meal and time together… two and three helpings were had, and the littlest one even ate the meat happily… in fact he had two plates of taco salad before he ate his usual taco… 

such fun to see them begin to try, and enjoy, new things…

as I enjoy my Sunday afternoons and evenings with my grandkids I realize how lucky I am to be in close proximity to them… many grandparents I know only get to see their kids now and again, and I am able to see them grow every week…

grandparenting is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had… life is good…

one of the most difficult things to get sorted out is my late night snack…

  
the trick seems to be what time I need to eat it…

supposed to have protein every time I eat and trying to figure out just the right time for the last snack is complicated…

  
apparently our pancreas sends out a burst of insulin every morning around three… because mine isn’t quite well behaved, it kind of drips instead of just spewing out a single amount… 

apparently the idea is to eat food that encourages the pancreas to send out a burst of insulin and then stops instead of the drippy business…

one of my favourite snacks is popcorn and almonds… make it in a Tupperware measuring cup with a lid… then add a tiny bit of canola oil and salt…

  
popcorn is always served in a plastic fish bowl… tastes better that way:-)…

appears that eating about ten or ten thirty seems to be the best…

always learning about this new way of being…

figuring out snacks isn’t always easy these days…

seems like thinking and planning meals and snacks takes up a lot more of my time…

have to be sure I have fresh vegetables and appropriate meat…

every morning I have to sort out, and then eat breakfast…

next I have to figure out what I will take for lunch and a possible snack at the office…

finally I need to get something out for supper…

seems like a lot to do first thing in the morning…

this morning I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer…

cheese and celery or almonds are often snacks at the office…

tonight I made popcorn… figured out how to make it in the microwave in a Tupperware measuring cup that has a lid… a bit of oil and salt and voila:-)…

Canada Day…

been a very quiet Canada Day here…

it was overcast when I got up and then it started to mist… put out a box of pass-me-overs and made tea…

I saw this goldfinch come to the feeder a number of times throughout the day, once with the missus…

when I was out in the hot tub, he went to one of the feeders in the back corner of the garden… I also thought I saw two of them fly over the house… am wondering if maybe there is a baby boy in their life, although last year there were at least five pairs living in the area…

the grackles have been coming to the feeders a lot… this is very unusual, and they seem to be coming when it is raining… don’t have the heart to shoo them away because they also have a baby in their midst, although it is the same size as the parents, but lighter coloured and bushier…

watched tv, read a bit and napped… my legs are both stiff from the fall, but I don’t have any visible bruising… talked with my girls, and my son-in-law stopped by on his way home from work to stand up some plants in the pond… after my little fall yesterday, I was a bit nervous to get down close to the pond… who would save me if I fell in, lol… he counted four baby fish in the pond as well…

usually the kids would come over and we would watch the fireworks that go off at the Park, but no one was feeling that great and the weather has been rainy and overcast all day so they decided not to come…

spent a bit of time remembering all the gatherings on Canada Day on the front street as neighbours, friends and family would put chairs out on the road, make gallons of popcorn, spray everyone within an inch of their life with bug spray and oooo and ahhhh at the fireworks… some years they would be amazing, and other years not so great… the view is not quite as good now, as the trees have grown so they can interfere depending on where the fireworks have been set up… one year we went over to the Park to watch them and almost died of smoke inhalation, lol…

since talking with the kids the sky has finally turned blue, so I might walk out to the street when they start… or not… missing my beloved today…
