woke up early and started my day with a smoothie and a walk on the treadmill… 

then I got to spend a short time in the garden…and took a few pictures of some purple flowers…

these are looking very nice with the white alyssum in the planter boxes around the deck…


there is something about calla lilies that just grabs my heart…


these beauties are on the front steps…

for many years in the summer I would start my day with a walk all around the garden… that was when George was weeding, lol…

the side garden is overgrown so I couldn’t make it around there, but I did get to take a wander around the rest of the space…

certainly gets one into a peaceful state of mind…

what a wonderful day…

met up with my son-in-law and we went in search of rocks for the pond…

we found some river stone for the bottom of the pond and eventually some nice sized fieldstone for around the perimeter as I haven’t felt the flat slate edge worked well…  
 

we also picked up a power washer…

   

came home and someone played with it for quite a while…

 

had lunch on the deck, put together the hammock, enjoyed looking at my new hibiscus, and headed out for more fun…
  

found a rain barrel on sale, some dahlias and three air plants…

  

very happy with the barrel as the garbage can I’d been using sprang a leak at the end of last year… this one is very fancy and can hold plants in the top…

picked up the boys from school and on our way back here, stopped for soft ice cream and found purple gazing balls – 3 different sizes which I think will float in the pond… and the kids bought them for me for Mother’s Day;-)… 

  

this was my first ice cream of the year… woo hoo… ordered Chinese food and while we were waiting for it to arrive, work began on cleaning and re-rocking the pond… 

  
finished filling the pond after they left and got the waterfall going… it sounds wonderful…

great to spend time in the garden… even got to sit out in the chairs for a bit…

a while ago I noticed that my Fitbit Flex band was breaking…

after I bought the Fitbit I ordered a purple band… I know, you are shocked… about a year later it ripped, so I ordered a set with 3 in it… a purple, pink, and turquoise one… of course I’ve only worn the purple one, but I was able to give the turquoise one to a friend… still need to find someone who could use the pink…

it’s been about another year when I noticed this break…

instead of just buying a new one, I emailed them, thanks to a suggestion from my daughter… they responded very quickly and said they would send a replacement… at no charge…

when I arrived home today there was a parcel on the step…

  

yay… and here is the new one on my wrist…

another exciting piece is that now it only has two open spots where it fastens… in the last year or so it has moved at least five spaces… I was actually wearing the small size while I was waiting for the replacement to arrive…

  
another visible example of how much weight I have lost… way to go me…

started the day off reading the lovely Secret Adventures of Tiny Toba… it is about finding and sharing gratitude as the authors took a motorcycle trip to the East Coast… I think my boys are going to love it…

  
then I spent some time gathering items and packing for our trip to New York, leaving a week today…

 

treated myself to a pedicure with paraffin and hot rock massage… want those feet to be pretty and ready for all the walking we have planned…

  
hard to tell, but those are purple nails, not pink…

easy to call, book the appointment and go… didn’t even consider calling around to see if I could find someone to go with me…

big girl pants are fitting pretty good today, lol…

didn’t have to be at work until eleven so I relaxed with a cup of tea in the living room while enjoying the perfume from the blooming hyacinth…

  
such a delicious smell… and I was so pleased that it turned out to be purple, lol…

also saw a bunny hop across the street while I was soaking up the quiet…

this afternoon I received this in my email…

  
a Hershey’s kiss in a purple wrapper from my kids who are visiting Las Vegas… makes me giggle because Hershey chocolate tastes like soap to me… but I love kisses…

to bookend the great start to the day, tonight a dear friend came over with her freshly made hot cross buns… they are soooo delicious…

  
we had a lovely visit and both enjoyed the new orchid which I picked up at the Manitoba Orchid Society’s show and sale yesterday afternoon at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory…

  
the beauty that surrounds us is most amazing…

productive day…

picked up some purple cauliflower yesterday on the way home… 

  

so today I made soup… it actually came out purple…

  
pretty, but it doesn’t taste that great… think I might need to add spice of some kind to perk it up…

tonight I went to #LoveLocalMB… had the opportunity to chat with many of the food producers in a large room crammed full of people who feed Manitobans…

  
bought a number of items as it was a great way to support the people who make our food…

was most excited to get bessie’s best tzatziki… I fell in love with it last summer at the Downtown Thursday Farmers Market… it hasn’t been available since then and I really enjoy it… what a treat… 

going to have some yummy things to eat over the next while…

up and about fairly early for a day off…

ran some errands and picked up my hemmed jeans… my girls will be so proud:-)…

  
found a few pairs of socks and a nice white t shirt to go together with the jeans…

stopped in at DAVIDsTEA for the free cup that I heard about by email… really enjoyed the Mom’s Apple Pie flavour… and came away with this, lol…

 
it is a gorgeous shade of purple and keeps things hot or cold… also collected some tea that I had earned… 

my shoveler came after school and cleaned up all the snow… it was really cold out and he had to come in midway to warm up his hands…

  

we had supper – the red lentil curry – and he headed home on the bus, with curry, chicken and dumplings, and pistachios in his bag… 

always enjoy spending time together…

had a bit of fun shopping…

went to Henry’s and picked up the eyefi mobiPRO… staff there helped link it up to the app I had already downloaded onto my iPhone… I do love technology…

  
it is very cool…

from there we went to Urban Trail where I checked out a number of Canada Goose jackets… and then I found a gorgeous purple North Face jacket…

  
it is gorgeous… fits great and works to -10 C… it weighs about the same as a cute little vest I have that fits into a tiny bag…can hardly wait to wear it;-)…

wandered around a few other shops and headed home…

since then I’ve been playing with my Nikon and iPhone…

took these pictures in the living room…

   
 
and transferred them to my iPhone in a flash… so great to have the ability to get pictures from my camera to the phone so easily…

also enjoyed the sunshine…

  
yesterday, my Facebook showed a few memories with my beloved speaking in a video… he made a number of angels using this particular one as a sample… 

I sure do miss him and loved hearing his voice…

it snowed quite a bit overnight… as I was pulling out of the driveway the house looked so pretty that I had to stop and get a picture…

  

fresh snow makes everything beautiful…

started snowing on the drive to work… it was hard to see and very slippery… the snowfall lasted for a good portion of the day but by the time I left the office the car was clean… the temperature was over zero and it had melted… crazy weather, lol… main streets were practically dry…

sadly when we got on the side streets there was still tons of snow… 

my grandson met me at work so he could ride home and shovel for me…

  
we had supper and he got all the sidewalks and driveway cleared…

   

it’s been two years since my wall was painted purple so I spent a few minutes enjoying the beauty of the living room before heading on up to bed…

this morning a colleague brought in some treats, including these delicious purple chips… they come from blue potatoes and she picked them up with me in mind…

  
but, we all loved them… think I am going to have to get more of these, lol…

our yoga instructor brought us some David’s Tea… was very happy as I’ve been wanting to taste some of their Christmas flavours…

 
took this picture off their website… love the box… we tried the chocolate tea this afternoon… very nice…

tonight had a wonderful dinner at The Met... mushroom soup with a sprinkle of toasted wild rice…

  
then chateaubriand with roasted root vegetables, asparagus, and cauliflower with cheese…

 

topped off with my favourite dessert, a delicious creme brûlée…

 
the perfect amount and it was soooo tasty… 
great conversation with lovely people…

a day filled with treats…
