on Monday night, just before supper, I looked up and spotted a beautiful rainbow…
it faded and then a double one started up, and after it faded, there was a third one, with very bright colours…
what a treat…
reminded me of our time in Maui when we saw five different rainbows in an hour…

this morning my Seize the Day calendar reminded me to start each day with a grateful heart... it was a good reminder…
I am grateful for the birdseed in the feeders in the front and back yards… thanks to my middle grandson who filled them all on Saturday…
so far only the squirrel has found the one in the front, I had a quiet time watching for the birds through the window as I sat in the sunshine…
both birds and squirrels have found the one in the garden…
I am grateful for an early morning rainbow on the kitchen floor, new leaves on the Japanese Maple, and sunlight shining on orchids…
I am grateful for time to read, food to eat, a comfortable home to live in, and wonderful memories…
sometimes a reminder is just what’s needed…

the other evening there was a thunderstorm…
afterwards I took this photo out the front door… hadn’t been much sun for most of the day, so it was great to see this…
I was on the watch for a rainbow because the sky just had that look about it…
and then, this…
it was gorgeous and reminded me of the many rainbows we saw when we were on Maui… I think we saw at least one every day and one day we saw five…

some interesting skies over the last few days… hard to see, but there was the palest rainbow in this picture from last night…
today saw the sun shining through all these clouds…

a while ago my oldest asked why I left the cupboard door to the garbage open…
I think it is so I can have access all the time, but it did make me think back to years ago when one of my best friends always had her drawers and cupboard doors open when she was cooking…
seemed dangerous and made me crazy…
so it was a bit humorous that apparently I have started to leave this one door open…
this morning there was a tiny rainbow in the kitchen as I was taking the picture…
have to think about this a bit more and maybe start closing it …

started out the morning with a bit of rain early and as I was leaving for work it stopped, but I got some great shots of the hibiscus…
a colleague mentioned she had taken a picture of a double rainbow last night… I was looking to the west and she was looking to the east about the same time I think… I got shots of cool cloud formations, lol…
tonight I looked out the window to see the brightest rainbow I’ve seen in a long time…
picture doesn’t do it justice… it was so bright…
went to another window a few minutes later and saw the whole rainbow…
had to take two pictures to get it all in…
and then it was gone…
what a treat… makes the frequent rain more bearable…

am dripping wet right now…
hard to see but there is a rainbow in this picture… this is what it looked like after I ran out in the pouring rain and put away all the cushions… first time they have been soaked, sigh… should have put them away before supper…
the day had been perfect up till the storm…
fish were out and about…
watered all the planters and baskets and they are doing well…
found a small tomato…
couple of green peppers…
and an eggplant… woo hoo…
mandevilla is ready to open…
and the million bells basket is beautiful…
the rain has ended but the thunder is still rolling…

been very busy with sports the last few days… last night had dinner with my daughter and oldest grandson and then went to watch his soccer game…
older one’s team taking a well deserved break, it was very hot…
tonight I went to their house and we had Chinese food for dinner – tomorrow is Jeff’s birthday – and then went to the second grandson’s soccer game…
on the way to a goal…
both nights the weather was great, although clouds blew by… both boys played very well and I could see the improvement in the oldest, as I had been at one of his games before going to the coast…
reminded me of my dad… he was an athlete in his youth but as an adult he suffered from emphysema so couldn’t participate in sports but he loved to watch and support them… we often went to events at the Arena – for skating and running… Dad taught me that the important thing was to do your best and we always cheered for everyone, not just the front runners…
we followed that same philosophy with our children and now our grandchildren…
what a blessing to be able to see them having fun and learning great life skills…
rainbow on way home…
