have six books packed for holiday reading…
two 3-book series from Nora Roberts… she is one of my favourite authors but I haven’t been reading for quite a while…
underneath all those shoes and clothes the books are in the bag…
looking forward to the opportunity to spend time just relaxing and reading…

what a glorious day… watched tv and tidied the house during the morning…
enjoyed some excellent meals…
had a lovely wander around the garden and got some great shots of the flowers in the sunshine… it got up to 17 this afternoon… amazing…
the alyssum are still blooming like crazy and so happy… I cannot pull them…
the lobelia, creeping bellflower and jolly jump-ups were all showing off their purpleness…
then I read and listened to music all afternoon…
just what I needed after my busy week…

weather wasn’t quite so cooperative today… we still had a good time…
woke up to sun at 5:30 but by 10:30 it was raining and it rained hard for a good part of the day…
did some reading in the tent… didn’t get any shots of the rain, too depressing…
we had a picnic there too… all 6 of us did very well together…
our plates were Kleenex… as we sat on the two air mattresses and a couple of chairs we brought into the tent…
here’s the sign to the campground which is beautifully lit up at night…
this was the view around 4:30 when some of our group went to the lake and picked tons of blueberries… sky was nice and blue at that time…
this was one of the birch trees at our campsite just after 6… beautiful blue sky as we prepped our dinner…
then it clouded over again, and threatened to rain but it didn’t… yay…
here’s a view from the hammock… very popular spot that everyone wants, but few get, lol…
all that blue in the pictures make it hard to believe that it was overcast and rainy for the majority of the day…

quiet day…
had my first hot tub of the year… the birds were twittering and the squirrel was busy running back and forth in the cedar trees at the back of the yard…
made some red lentil curry and it came out great… will certainly make that again, which is good because I bought four different types of spices to make it, lol…
had a lovely visit with a good friend and spent some FaceTime with my Ottawa daughter… we are starting to consider some lakeside vacation time in July for the whole family…
got in a bit of reading…
supper with most of the kids… one was on a play date, so only four of them were here…
relaxing after dinner…

slept out on the deck last night… it was lovely… put three cushions on a lounge chair, two blankets and a pillow… not a single mosquito, woo hoo…
this was what I saw when I woke up…
did a bit of weeding, ate brunch in the garden, washed outdoor furniture and filled all the bird feeders…
spent some time reading and watching the birds flitting around… there was a drinking party and bath time happening too, lol…
after cleaning out much of the water hyacinth I am getting a much better view of the fish as they swim around…
even the chickadee let me get a picture…
I got within arms length of a female Downy Woodpecker… must have stood there for about three minutes chatting to her, while she was trying to get a peanut out of one of the front feeders… lovely…

had a wonderful day in the garden…
spent time watching birds at the feeder… then a squirrel ran past me, swam across the pond and vanished under the cedar tree…
don’t think this was the one who took the swim, but it wandered by as I was quietly sitting reading…
the goldfinch flew right by me as well and landed on the flat rock that the water flows over for a drink… we were very close to one another…
the kids were over in the afternoon and spotted more baby fish… two different batches as there are three sizes swimming around… the five I found… a group half that size and some weeny ones that are all dark coloured but that might be because they are so tiny…
after everyone left I lay down on the floating chair without even putting on the cover and read and enjoyed the sounds of the garden…
a day filled with beauty…

been watching the sunflower plant and it is not following the sun… we think it might be that the sun is reflected in the living room window and it is confused about which way to turn… every day the centre is growing and changing…
sunflower…
had a very relaxing day… watched a few cooking shows this morning…
spent some time making corn chowder and tidying up the kitchen… chowder came out very nice…
spent the remainder of the day reading… lovely to be able to read and nap and read some more…
boiled some small potatoes with dill and a few fresh peas to go along with the little bit of leftover roast from last night and also produced a little cucumber and tomato salad…

heading out for a late evening hot tub and then to bed…

believe that I enjoyed every minute of my day… got up, dressed and went outside… spent some time in my new chair and read…
reading and watching the plants get watered at the root level…
found the root watering tool and watered all of the plants in the new pond area… right now the pond is filled with algae and I think it is from fertilizing the plants and the water running into the pond…
took most of the day, but each plant got a lovely soaking at the root level, and while that was going on I watched the birds, read and snacked…
beautiful morning glory…
had a lovely nap in the afternoon and watched some great jumping at Spruce Meadows…
read and watered some more and then came in for supper and some TV…
starting to feel more positive again… thank goodness…

feels like 27.6 Celsius right now… not sure what it got to this afternoon, but it was very hot…
there were three morning glories and I spent a bit of time enjoying them…
then I worked in the garden and took breaks to do some reading…
kids came for dinner and we discovered that one of my squirrel friends ate through a wire on the lawnmower so that will need to be fixed…
might just sleep out on the deck tonight…

slept out under the stars and enjoyed watching the moon move through the sky as the night progressed…
bed for the night under the stars…
then spent Sunday planting, reading and watching all the visitors who came by…
before I started planting…
took a few shots of the landscape before making all the changes…
decided I liked where the plants were sitting and started to get them into the ground…
after planting…
worked on one or two and then took a break, to read and watch the various flying friends who stopped by…
behind the waterfall…
there were goldfinches and purple finches and lots of sparrows of various sorts… there were bees and wasps and a couple of butterflies and dragonflies…
once the planting was done I tidied up the bench which had been covered with pots during the construction…
then I took it easy… lots of work, but was very happy with the results… looks much better now…
