Thursday was a disaster technology wise…

I was wondering if the power had gone off during the night, but the dishwasher, which usually tells me with a big PF, didn’t display that…

my Nikon wouldn’t connect to my phone… no matter what I did, sigh…

my Geeni cameras, on the garage and in two rooms to look out the front and into the garden, would not work… I tried the usual unplug and replug technique, which had no effect…

my smart home plugs weren’t functioning either and none of the usual solutions worked…

someone suggested the new moon was the issue…

so I gave up on technology for the day, hoping a miracle would happen and everything would work on Friday;-)…

of course that didn’t happen… I went downstairs and unplugged the router, waited a bit and plugged it back in…

then there is the patience factor as it takes a while for all the little lights to light up and get happily blinking….

that didn’t fix everything, so I went upstairs and did the same with the second router…

and… finally everything was working… shhhh…

those big girl pants are fitting more comfortably all the time…

yesterday, in the early evening, the power went out… it was still light so I sat in the quiet and finished a book… then I went in search of flashlights and candles in case I needed them… found both and had them set out in each room so I would be ready when it got dark…

after about forty-five minutes the power came back on… Google turned all the lights on and the fish tank pump started burbling…

I turned on the tv which came on and after a few seconds would say the connection was lost… same thing for the one upstairs…

I decided to go to bed and see if it was more cooperative in the morning… unfortunately it wasn’t…

so instead of freaking out and calling my son-in-law, I went down to the router, turned it off, once I figured out which plug to use, and waited… plugged it back in, and waited…

and then turned on the tv which was now perfectly happy…

I also put a label on the plug for the next time this happens…

way to go me;-)…

while the kids were here we visited Best Buy and Future Shop a number of times and Ron was kept busy…

we picked up a USB hub…

both of these items made me very happy… now I can finally plug in a USB stick and my camera memory card at my desktop… for months I haven’t been able to, which means I have basically had to write my blog on my phone… if I had a photo on the camera, I had to take a picture of the photo with my phone…

20140617-212404-77044058.jpgthen we got a new power bar which also has USB ports in it and that got put up on the wall… it is very handy and now there aren’t cords all over the floor… and I am going to be able to plug in my phone or fitbit in the living room…

best of all we picked up an additional router so that I can access wifi in the garden… all that work the MTS guy did, didn’t solve the wifi problem at all…

even the loaner laptop was fixed… apparently the date on it was wrong and that was causing it to refuse to go to any website… I can now access my email as well…

we won’t talk about the electronic frame which, just this morning, is telling me there are no photos on it, sigh…

in December the new PVR system was installed and I continue to learn and enjoy using it…

unfortunately, when they installed it, they also changed the router, which really irritated my electronic picture frame…  so, it hasn’t accepted any emails since that time because it would no longer connect with the internet…

I added a bunch of pictures from the trip and, of course, it wouldn’t accept them…

the other day my nephew, one of the wonderful geeks in my life, was over and he spent quite some time getting the frame to connect and now it works…

it took a while to download the 200 plus pictures I had put on it, as well as a dozen or so that Cyndi had sent me, some from Calgary and some from our vacation…

now I can look up and see pictures of our wonderful time in Mexico, or maybe a shot of George, or the kids, or one of our visits to Courtenay…

maybe I will even arrive home to a new picture that one of the kids has sent…
