started the weekend watching skating as the various teams get ready for the Olympics…

on Saturday my son-in-law and two youngest grandsons came over and we went shopping at Costco and Save-On-Foods… I love it when we shop together because there is ample assistance to bring in all the items, lol…

we prepped ribs, baked them and then my son-in-law finished them off on the bbq… supper was delicious with rice, asparagus and Caesar salad…

when they left, the middle grandson stayed behind for a sleepover and we watched some skiing before bed…

this morning we woke up to fresh snow on the ground… snow pants on both of us, we decided to walk to the “A” for breakfast… wasn’t too cold going as the wind was behind us…

after breakfast we walked around Bruce Park to collect poke balls… the wind came up now and again so it was a bit chilly on the way home…

he shovelled and then helped me package up meat for the freezer… then we put away the last of the Christmas decorations…

he was picked up around noon and then I went back to watching sports and napping for the remainder of the day…

focussing on eating a bit better…

got an early text from a friend and she picked me up on the way to La Belle Baguette for some fresh bread… I picked up a cranberry baguette, a rye sourdough, and a chocolate croissant…

when I returned home I had half of the croissant, some Laughing Cow cheese, and a raspberry smoothie… delicious and a bit decadent…

not long after that, I ran out to the mall with my daughter and eldest grandson and when I returned home finished the last bit of shepherd’s pie with Evolution Sweet Green compressed juice, one of the few things I get from Starbucks… it has little sugar, lots of vegetables and few calories…

for supper I used the Coconut Wraps which were a Christmas gift from my daughter… I used up the last little bit of leftover steak, some mushrooms, green onion, pea pods, and garnished it with cilantro and shredded radish… made a bit of cucumber and onion salad to go with it…

pleased that I have used up most of the leftovers in the fridge… and have included lots of veggies in my meals today… this might have been where I fell of the wagon over the last month, lol…

we were busy today…

slept in a bit and I walked to the “A” and met the kids there for breakfast… one of my son-in-law’s favourite places to eat…

it was lovely to get outside for some exercise… after we ate it was off to the youngest grandson’s Christmas concert… he’d been sick but did a great job anyway…

from there we drove downtown to do some local shopping… picked up some chocolate postcards at Little Sister Coffee Maker, a couple of kitchen goodies from The Happy Cooker and cake from Baked Expectations…

didn’t even get a shot of the slices of cake we picked up, lol…

then it was over to Decadence Chocolates on Sherbrook… had some fun there as we enjoyed complimentary hot chocolate…

last stop was Poco Inspired where we discovered beads, findings, tools, and stones – my personal favourite…

made me think of the Johnny Cash song “I’ve been everywhere”… although I might change the next few words, lol…

bit of an odd day… woke up at 6:15, made a thermos of tea and went back to bed… it had snowed a bit in the night…

at 7:30 the power went off and didn’t come back on for two hours… happy to have the warm tea as the temperature in the house dropped to 69 Celcius…

it is always so quiet when the power is off… and with the fresh blanket of snow it felt very cozy… particularly because I didn’t have to go out…

once the power was back on I spent some time working on a project and later met up with my daughter and eldest grandson at the mall… oh my… what was I thinking…

cars and people everywhere… good news is that I now have just about everything I need…

stopped to pick up A & W teen burgers, onion rings and fries and then home… teen burgers from A & W were a treat we would sometimes have on our way home from work… nice to enjoy them with my grandson who is spending the night and helping me with some chores around the house tomorrow…

a number of people say he looks just like my beloved;-)…

busy, busy, busy… spent the morning emptying the bedroom for painting and preparing chicken soup…

friends arrived and two of us went off to do some Craft Show shopping while one stayed behind to do the painting;-)…

four hours later we came home and the room was done… it was already dark by the time I took photos so I am excited to see it in the light of day… the colour is a very pale mauve/pink… or, maybe it will just look like it has been freshened up…

made dumplings to go with the soup, pulled together a Caesar salad and we had supper… George would have called this stoup… a cross between stew and soup…

lovely to have friends over for dinner… been a long time…

this morning I had to leave Shadow at the car hospital… it was rather sad…

took out the car emergency bag, the quilt, and the grocery bags from the trunk… the parking pass and garage door opener from the front… and, finally, the snow brush from the back seat…

then spent quite a while at the car rental place getting another vehicle… a long involved process that included walking around the rental car looking for any teeny dents or scrapes…

it was difficult to leave her behind… likely for two weeks, while she has work done to fix her up like new…

didn’t like the feel of the new car and it has the touchiest brakes ever… stopped to shop and parked a long way from everything as I tried to figure out all the stuff…

did manage to connect the phone and get the seat and mirrors in the right position…

then I had to take a picture so I knew what I was looking for when I came out, lol…

worked the late shift today so first thing this morning I ran around and did a few errands…

Thursday is my soup day so I went to the grocery store to get the ingredients to make zucchini basil chicken soup…

then it was over to the dollar store to look for little gloves… didn’t have what I wanted but I did find a few goodies for Halloween;-)…

a new witches hat… I have a few but this one was cute… and a spiderweb-y cape to go with it…

full day… my grandson came over and worked in the yard for me… then we ran out and did a few errands…

as we left the driveway, got this shot of the Virginia creeper growing alongside the house…

the red is vibrant against the green on the cedar…

returned home and my daughter and the two younger boys arrived and we headed out for more shopping… this time to IKEA… it always amazes me how much time can get eaten up in that store, lol…

had a roast planned for dinner but as we left the store there wasn’t going to be time to cook and eat it before they needed to head home…

so, we ordered Panago pizza… it was delicious along with the salad we made to to go with it…

mostly a quiet day, except when I went out to grocery shop and run a few errands…

it rained on and off the whole day…

was chilly too… the late blooming hibiscus doesn’t seem to be minding the colder weather…

had been planning to pick up some flowers but instead picked up this water bottle which jumped right off the shelf into my cart:-)… and it was on sale, so I really had no choice, lol…

my grandsons came for dinner and we had a good time… dad was working and mom was home sick… they helped get supper ready and with clean up…

a minute ago the oldest was being born… now the three of them come and visit on their own… time flies crazy fast;-)…

flight arrived around 4:15 yesterday and my son-in-law picked me up and brought me home…

was contemplating a nap, but my daughter texted wanting to know if I wanted to go to ManyFest with her, the younger boys, and a friend’s three year old twins… said yes, thinking it would be a bit later in the day… they arrived about half an hour later… no nap for me, lol…

had fun with all the kids and stood in many lines for food… we were quite the little parade as we travelled around the site… there are always many people…

managed to get this picture of the Golden guy as we were walking around…

I don’t remember turning off the tv, but it was off this morning… apparently I was tired…

happy to wander around the garden this morning and check on all my flowers…

the morning glories were blooming and I took a few pictures because I really missed them… the hibiscus had many flowers and buds…

usually the kids come for dinner on Sunday, but today lunch worked better for them… my grandson picked me up and we went downtown to meet the others and have crepes…

only the second time I’ve been to Kawai Crepes and it was delicious…

and then we went to see The Emoji Movie… it was very cute… I ate nearly a whole bag of popcorn…

they headed to their place… I stopped and picked up a few groceries, came home, watered the garden and did many loads of laundry… roasted a chicken for lunches this week and watched a bit of tv…

been a busy few days… had imagined that I would have time to rest up before heading back to work, lol…

going to bed…
