today I made a pilgrimage to the statue that represents the women who served in World War I and II… it is located close to many other war memorials down by the legislature…

it was very cold out and my fingers were frozen by the time I was finished taking photos…

it was heartwarming to see that someone had drawn a heart in the snow right beside the monument…

my mom was part of the organization that made sure this reminder of women’s place in the wars was visible…

my final action before leaving was to remove my poppy and leave it at the foot of the monument…

a moving and emotional moment…

started my day at La Belle Baguette to pick up some bread for lunch… found a few lemon tarts and a couple of chocolate bars to go along with it…

went nicely with the zucchini basil soup at lunch…

snow… not exactly how I wanted to arrive home at the end of the day although they’ve been threatening it for a few days, lol… you will notice that I gave in and actually had socks on;-)…

ended the day with a large bowl of Thai shrimp soup… lovely as all I had to do was warm it up…

spent part of the day yesterday trying to find someone to clean up the leaves in the yard… eventually I hired my son-in-law who came today and raked everything up… then he put away all of the lawn furniture… looks great…

also trying to find a snow-clearing company as my grandson who has been doing the snow removal for the last few years is now busy with university and work and not available…

of three places I contacted, two were already filled up for the winter…

I have received a quote from the third place and will be in touch with a few questions…

hoping that it all works out because I don’t need to be worrying about snow when it starts falling, lol…

yesterday my son-in-law and middle grandson came over and we went to Costco to pick up a few things…

they carted stuff in and put it away while I prepared the meat for tacos… serendipitous as my grandson mentioned he’d been craving them for a few days…

the boys use both hard and soft shells, but I like to make salad with mine…

after supper we jumped in the car and drove to Boon Burger for some vegan pumpkin pie ice cream… my son-in-law is having to watch his dairy intake and was very excited to learn that they have this particular ice cream and that he could eat it…

it was snowing a bit as we left with our treats, lol…

this morning it was hard to tell whether there were more leaves or snow blowing…

not really what is expected at this time of the year, sigh…

I had been laughing just before because when I looked outside the bird feeder was on the ground and the squirrel and birds were enjoying how easy it was to get the seeds…

maybe the raccoon had come by and taken it off the pole… which had been leaning way over again…

can I just say the weather has been silly for at least a week…

last Friday it was snowing as I went to an appointment in the morning… by the end of the day it was basically all gone…

on Wednesday it snowed like crazy and as I headed out to the car after work – in my sandals – I realized that I did not have a brush or scrapper to clean it off… happily I had a cloth in the trunk which helped clean off the snow from the windows…

when I got home I pulled out some brushes and cleared off the roof which was still covered with the wet snow… thank goodness it melted away overnight and the garage isn’t going to be filled with snow all winter…

today it has been raining/snowing all day so I haven’t left the house…

hoping tomorrow is better because I still don’t have a turkey, lol…

when I opened the door to head to work for an early event today, this is what I saw…

people, it is April 12th, sigh… even wore boots because I didn’t want to slip and twist my knee…

sat in the living room for a few minutes when I got home and enjoyed the full canopy on the Japanese Maple and the lovely little rose which I am hoping to plant in the garden whenever it gets warm enough… what a difference a few weeks have made…

had breakfast while I was out, so for supper I had a smoothie… fancied it up with some 100% chocolate squares… and finished the meal off with the last two Christmas shortbread cookies which I found by accident in a kitchen drawer…

what a treat…

weather has been rather silly recently…

Thursday afternoon the sun was shining and there were puddles on the streets as I drove home… looked out the window in the evening and snow was falling…

Friday morning I took some pictures of the snow and the cool patterns that have formed as the snow melts…

since then there’s been lots of sunshine but temperatures have been below normal… today when the kids were here for dinner, the boys went down the street to play football in the field…

maybe, just maybe, Spring is coming…

the weather has been decidedly crazy lately…

last week I wore sandals to work… since then there have been threats of snow almost daily…

happily, for many of the days, at least the sun was shining…

nearly everyone I talk to has been feeling crummy with the up and down temperatures… hard to know whether to wear a light jacket, the middle jacket or the really heavy duty cold one…

hard to believe we haven’t had much snow at all this winter considering that it’s been so cold…

day started sunny, but cold… then mid morning it started to snow…

the sun was back as we headed home…

the sunlight in the dining room shone on the bunnies…

although one of my grandsons said the wire one looked like a bird on Sunday, lol…

in the living room the flowers shone…

sunlight and shadows are so beautiful…

really happy to have the next four days off…
