no time to walk on the treadmill this morning but I did get a nice picture of the Japanese Maple… the leaves are coming out in full force…

  
this is a real sign of spring…

the snow that keeps coming down isn’t the most difficult thing we’ve had to deal with lately… it is the grayness… the sun hasn’t been out very much over the last few weeks and that affects many of us…

have noticed that it occasionally comes out late in the afternoon… 

and so it did today… got this lovely shot of the orchids in the sunshine…

just amazes me how happy a few minutes of sunlight can make me…

from Spring flowers to huge snowflakes… what a day…

  
yesterday I picked up some daffodils and irises… really wanted to add some life to the house… have some upstairs and others in the living room…

  
makes me happy to have the bright colours around…

also fairly sure I listened to a robin singing while I was laying in bed… and the geese flying over… seems like every day I am hearing new bird songs as they are returning…

around six fifteen tonight I looked outside and saw huge snowflakes coming down very quietly…

  
had stopped at Krevco earlier and had the water tested… made sure to put all the chemicals in so that I could go out and have a hot tub… been waiting for the fresh water to get up to the correct temperature… not sure now if I’m going out there tonight or not…

happy to open the patio door and have the warm air flow through the screen… 

  
first time it has been open since the fall I think… had the bedroom window open all day too…

spent a few minutes on the deck shovelling the snow off it… planning to sit out there for a bit tomorrow…

got a few pictures of the water in the pond… won’t be long before I am sitting out there beside it…

 
heat from the sun is melting the snow around the big rocks… 

tonight all the solar lights are on… for the last few nights some have been staying lit until early in the morning… excellent sign of Spring…

streets were pretty dry so today when I headed out I wore my sandals…

  
now we are talking;-)…

everyone is so excited for spring… 

the crows were chatting amongst themselves as I was heading out to my ride this morning…

  
there were a couple of them in the tree…

as we turned onto the next street I caught sight of a good-sized brown bunny…  

on my way home tonight I walked part way and enjoyed the birdsong and the sun on my face…

got a shot of these buds bursting into leaves…

  
sun was shining and the wind had died down… just beautiful out…

just this morning I was thinking about how light it is so early…

looking forward to more warm and sunny days…

as we were driving to the office this morning we saw three geese circling and then landing in a creek…

Spring is really coming…

the pile of snow in the backyard that I thought was going to need shovelling is almost gone…

took out the recycling and garbage tonight after work… didn’t need a jacket and my feet were fine in sandals as the ground is drying up beautifully…

finally connected with yesterday’s birthday child by text and she will be home tomorrow night…

took a picture of my sand dollar wreath which has been trying to come apart… plan to get some glue and fix it on the weekend…

got up a bit early this morning to be sure I got everything done before heading to work…

had four boxes for pick up by a local charitable organization… in the middle of the night I woke to the sound of rain coming down…

that meant I had to put plastic bags over the boxes so they wouldn’t get ruined sitting on the steps for a portion of the day…

took a bit of extra time to get that done so I was just finished when my ride arrived…



very happy with myself for getting these items pulled together and out of the house…

think the rain melted away lots of snow during the night and then the sun worked hard all day… couldn’t believe how much was gone when I got home…



the deck is almost completely cleared… maybe I will be able to sit out on the weekend… the temperature is often much warmer there than elsewhere in the yard…

Spring is really coming:-)…

I was surprised this morning when I looked out the window and spotted the edge of the top portion of the pond…

there is still lots of snow in the backyard, even though every day you can see more has melted… maybe there really is going to be a Spring…

when I walked up the sidewalk tonight I realized that one of the front flower beds was almost completely clear of snow… seemed like just a few days ago the snow was a couple of feet deep…

had brunch out with friends and then walked home in the sunshine…

wore a light jacket and took a few pictures along the way…

this was the pool that was at the end of the street…

20140406-205125.jpg had to do a bit of fancy footwork to make my way around it, lol…

spent some some cleaning out the last bit of a closet upstairs and I was able to divest myself of a box full of books and other bits and pieces… also cleaned up a corner of the computer room and put my collection of gift bags and tissue paper into the closet… more space in the room, yay…

later in the day the sun was shining into the living room and I got this shot of the couch and cushion glittering…

20140406-205655.jpgmy daughter and her boys came for dinner and we had tacos… the most exciting thing was that the littlest guy had meat on all of his tacos… maybe we are moving out of the no meat phase…

finally, I took this shot of the Japanese Maple, which at Christmas time, didn’t have a single leaf on it…

a beautiful day… had a lovely nap in the warm sunshine this afternoon…

the neighbour had his motorcycle out…

when I was outside, in my bare feet on the deck, putting chemicals in the hot tub, I could hear the snow melting from the garage roof… you can actually see the snow melting away…

had windows open for the first time for a good portion of the day… very nice…

just had a wonderful hot tub… finally the temperature feels like Spring…

wondering when all the snow will be gone…
