big girl pants, cuocakes, Dairy Queen, disappointing, lobster, The Keg, tv

picked up by my daughter and grandson after work today…

we wandered around Rona for a while and then went to The Keg for dinner... lobster summer… disappointing tonight…

my lobster was tasty and the steak was well done, but there wasn’t too much of it… the coleslaw wasn’t to my taste… had a bit of an Asian flavour to it which didn’t feel like it went with the rest of the food on the plate… felt like the prices have gone up and the standards have gone down… too bad as I’ve always felt you could get a good meal there…

then we went to Dairy Queen for dessert… my favourite thing is really just a small soft ice cream cone… but we were taken in by the cute little ice cream cupcakes…

sigh, should have got the ice cream cone…

always good to try new things, but sometimes it is best to stick with what you know, lol…

final disappointment of the evening… my daughter looked at the tv and came to the same conclusion as I had… it is dead… good news is they probably have one I can use…

great to spend time with them…

we weren’t able to find a camping spot for the weekend as we started to look too late… so glamping it is:-)…

we booked a night at the Fairfield Marriott… we arrived, checked into our room and went to The Keg for dinner…

20140803-214558-78358529.jpgboys had some fun with a puzzle and we are now curled up in our jammies, trying to decide which movie to watch…

birthday, conversations, pity party, remembering, satellites, singing, stars, The Keg

felt a little sorry for myself when I woke up at 5 this morning… after a short pity party I went back to sleep and at 6:15 felt more excited about the day…

had calls and singing from my kids and grandkids and lots of happy birthdays at the office… for our Souper Club a colleague made my favourite Thai soup and also picked up summer rolls… great group of people to enjoy a birthday lunch with…

a friend dropped by with a gorgeous cupcake, which I ate without taking one single picture, lol…

after work my daughter picked me up and we stopped at the mall and picked up a cute top for me with an orchid on it… then we headed to The Keg for dinner – steak and crab, very yummy… the place was nearly empty when we got there and the hostess couldn’t find a single booth for us to sit in as they were all reserved… when our wait person arrived and asked how we were I mentioned that I was disappointed that we weren’t in a booth… he checked and was able to find one (of the 20 or so that were empty) for us… the service and dinner were excellent and the wait person brought a piece of of Billy Miner pie to celebrate my birthday, which was much better than staff singing to you…

came home, had a nap, watched tv and talked with family across the country, shopped by phone with Cyndi and then spent some quality time in the hot tub…

I was looking at the stars and remembering how George could always spot the satellites going over… he had eagle eyes…  I don’t think I’ve seen a single one in the last year…

all day the tune today its my birthday has been running around in my head… I believe the new name for that is an ear worm… but I’m not sure I like that name, lol…

well, time for bed… and a new day in the new journey…

Baileys, cars, chocolate hearts, cookies, cupid delivery, feeling sorry for myself, lost son, miss him, neighbour, new reality, one step at a time, remembering daddy, roses, sadness, sorrow and healing, The Keg, time passes quickly

my neighbour of over thirty years lost her forty-year old son to cancer a few days ago…  I cannot imagine her pain…

I spent a few minutes with her and we talked about the sadness but also the need to go on, one step at a time…  a friend of hers was there and my neighbour mentioned that my husband had died a few months ago… it is nearly a year but time passes so quickly…  she will be fine, like me, moving forward and doing what needs to be done…

for me there is no choice…  I work at seeing the good in things around me, remembering the best and looking forward with hope…

I ordered roses for my girls and did very well until I was asked what the card should say… then the tears began to flow and I could hardly speak… both of the florists I spoke with were very compassionate, patiently waiting until I could speak again… the cards said – remembering daddy…

no matter what else was going on he always made sure that each of them got a rose for Valentine’s Day to be sure they knew how much he loved them…  what a romantic he was… I miss him so…

had quite the up and down day today…  woke up very early thinking about George and wishing he was here…  at work, I delivered flowers to one of my colleagues and was feeling a bit sorry for myself because I wouldn’t be getting any…

cupids, making their delivery...

cupids, making their delivery…

then I was called out of a meeting to deal with a situation at the front…  it was two cupids singing and playing a cute song as they delivered a heart-shaped cinnamon bun and chocolate heart…

In the heart of winter you may feel like an icicle – but your heart can be warmed with this message by bicycle – let there be no questions or shades of grey – your kids wish you a happy valentine’s day – so ignore the quality of singer or song – just know that with us, you can do no wrong.

treats...

treats…

it was our soup day so I had a lovely lunch with some of my colleagues – Thai Coconut Curry soup and sugar cookies – some very pretty ones that Crystal dropped off, and some rather strange looking ones that I made last night…

after work Crystal and I went to look at cars and consider whether I should upgrade… then we went to The Keg, where we met up with Jeff and had a lovely dinner…  steak and lobster for me, yum…

finally I got dropped off at home and charged into the house on a mission to get the garbage and recycling out for tomorrow’s pick-up…

… your “Lots of Love Club”!

as I sit here writing, and drinking a small glass of Baileys, I can look over and see the chocolate hearts, which I have not yet moved, lol… pretty great kids…

what a day… filled with tears and laughter as I move forward in this new reality…
