one of the great things about retirement is having the opportunity to watch as things unfold…
like this orchid which has been coming along nicely for a while…
yesterday at 8:48 am it was just starting to unfurl…
and at 1:55 pm it looked like this…
finally it was open at 9:14 am this morning…
and there is another bud;-)…

recently read something on Instagram that was a reminder for me…
someone I follow had a conversation with another person (whose name wasn’t provided) about motivation to get up in the morning, and their comment was:
…when you figure out what that something is that you love, and get to do it, you’re excited for what unfolds each day…
it struck a cord… I do love what I do… my purpose at work is to help everyone on the team be able to accomplish whatever they are working on in the simplest and easiest manner… maybe I’ve forgotten that…
and as it happened, I spent an hour this morning, once awake, considering an issue with our database and coming up with a simple workaround that will produce the outcome needed but cut back on the process to achieve that outcome… looking forward to getting to the office on Monday and trying it out;-)…
it is good to remember how lucky I am…
