crazy variety of weather today…
first thing this morning I looked out the window to see this…
could barely see in front of our noses… wet snow falling and strong winds…
around noon the snow stopped but the wind continued…
on our way home the sun was out and the snow was melting…
it was beautiful so I decided to walk part way home, although the wind did push me around… was a bit worried about the sidewalks and whether they still had ice on them… mainly dry with just a few wet patches… great walk…
this is what I saw when I got home and looked out that same window…
wonder what it is going to look like tomorrow, lol…

big girl pants, energy, hot tub, melting, productive, warm, weather, zero
the weather has been absolutely silly lately…
Friday night we walked back from our Christmas party in shoes and with our jackets open…
yesterday when I went out, I wore a spring jacket with a vest and was perfectly warm…
took this picture out the window this morning…

it went to zero Celsius today…
when I had an early morning hot tub today I had to wear a baseball cap as it was misting/foggy, but lovely and warm… as I sat there, I could hear water dripping from the eaves…
silly, lol…
it was warm enough that we were able to pull out dead plants from a planter on the steps and put in the spiral tree…
it looks lovely when the snow covers it… gonna have to wait a while for that…
the swag is on the outside of the door and the silver snowflake wreath is on the inside… looks good…

spent time organizing and decluttering…
feels like another productive day… maybe my energy is returning…

amphibious bus, Day 7, Gatineau, hot air balloon, Ottawa, weather
long night… just after we got into bed at 10:30 pm there was half an hour of fireworks from the Festival and we had a great view from the kids’ apartment… went to sleep to be woken up at 12:30 to a loud and furious storm filled with lightening, rain, and thunder… back to sleep for a couple of hours only to hear “Grandma, my stomach hurts”… after about half an hour went back to sleep… had to be shaken at 4:30 when the alarm went off…
headed over to Gatineau one more time to try and get our balloon ride…
this time they didn’t even have us sign the form because the ceiling was low and rain was expected… so we sat around till it was almost light, and took our picture in front of another balloon trailor…
took a taxi to ByWard Market where we had a lovely breakfast and checked out some of the Farmers’ Market, as the boys slept at the apartment…
once we got home we decided to take a tour of Ottawa on the Lady Dive, an amphibious bus…
home for a nap and did some laundry while the boys played racket ball… they headed off to a movie and we took another taxi to Gatineau…
we waited for about half an hour and once again it was a no go, sigh…
just made it into a taxi when the heavens opened and the rain came pouring down…
we were treated to a stunning rainbow with very bright colours… even the violet was visible…
tomorrow morning is our last opportunity for a flight as we leave Ottawa in the late afternoon…
we will see…

started out the day by planting a cherry tomato before I headed off to work…
it was a gorgeous morning and I was happy to have the few minutes to get my hands in the dirt and water everything…
planned to come home and do more planting, but got a call around 3 advising of a band concert…
in the end, went to a soccer game for the youngest grandson, for about five minutes, then on to the band concert, where during a jazz band performance our guy played a super solo…
then we flew out of the concert to get to the second half of a soccer game…
the sky was amazing and just as the game ended, the raindrops started… happily we were safely in the car when the five minute downpour let loose…
busy day…

put out all the cushions this morning… it was hot and sunny…
then I took out a cup of tea and enjoyed the peace in the garden…
lots of visitors… a gorgeous goldfinch…
sparrows, and a good-sized squirrel…
late this afternoon we had quite the thunderstorm… even now the clouds are pretty ominous looking…

we do love to talk about the weather…
got a great shot of the sun shining on trees across the street this morning as I waited for my ride…
now that it is warm and sunny, not sure what we have to discuss, lol…
I’ve been taking pictures daily of the snow melting in the backyard… kind of fun to see it going down and have a record of it…

started the day driving to work in a snowstorm… it was warm but the snow was coming down and had been for most of the night…
it was early, as we had an event… by the time I got to the office I could barely see through the windshield as it was iced over…
when we returned to the office the snow had stopped and it was quite nice…
when I left to come home it took a while to clean off the snow and ice which covered the car…
the drive wasn’t too bad although there was lots of mushy, dirty snow on the streets and it was a bit slippery…
a little while ago I went by the window and lo and behold it was snowing again…
here’s what it looks like…
can’t remember when we last had a winter like this…

alarm, amazing sky, big girl pants, cool and windy, Fazes Hair Studio, hot tub, Michael Buble Everything, rain on the moon roof, slept through alarm, sun through clouds, weather
I know I am tired when the alarm goes off and rings for 15 minutes before I wake up… this is extremely rare… my usual pattern is to wake up about five minutes before the alarm – which is Michael Buble singing Everything – goes off…
glad that tomorrow I cal sleep in… although usually that means I wake up early anyway, lol…
strange weather day… it was cool and fairly windy this morning when I headed off to work and stayed windy throughout the day… a colleague went for a walk around two and it was lovely, even with the wind… the sun was shining and it felt quite warm…
left the office at 3:30 to get to the hair salon and it was cool and windy… as I drove the sky was amazing, with the sun behind some clouds casting some wonderful sunbeams through some lovely blue sky… quite breathtaking and I was able to enjoy it for much of my trip…
while inside at the salon, apparently it clouded over and rained, and when I left it was still raining a bit… once in the car I looked up at the moon roof and had to take a picture of the beautiful design the raindrops had made…
blustery on the way home and after getting in the house looked out the front window to see the sun coming through the clouds even as it was raining… took a few pictures…
it is still blowing out there, but I expect it will calm down in an hour or so… usually when I head out to the hot tub around 11 the wind has died right down… we will see…

Alaska cruise, alyssum, George with me, hot tub, look after me, nesting, robin, tennis ball exercise, weather, what tomorrow brings
one of the first things I saw this morning out the front window was a robin filling it’s beak with old alyssum bits… it gathered up a huge amount and then flew off… obviously in the process of building a lovely nest…
made me think a bit about my nest and how it feels rather empty…
later, when I was driving to physio, I was feeling a little sorry for myself… wishing that George was with me, to look after me…
was thinking how he would have enjoyed making sure that I did the exercises prescribed by Tori… today’s included a tennis ball to roll around on my hip…
realizing there are fourteen days to my Alaska cruise and I still haven’t read all the information that arrived in yesterday’s mail… and I need to start checking the weather along the coast to see what it is like as the days get closer…
beautiful night, with the new moon and lots of stars when I was just out in the hot tub… will see what tomorrow brings…
