this morning I had to leave Shadow at the car hospital… it was rather sad…

took out the car emergency bag, the quilt, and the grocery bags from the trunk… the parking pass and garage door opener from the front… and, finally, the snow brush from the back seat…

then spent quite a while at the car rental place getting another vehicle… a long involved process that included walking around the rental car looking for any teeny dents or scrapes…

it was difficult to leave her behind… likely for two weeks, while she has work done to fix her up like new…

didn’t like the feel of the new car and it has the touchiest brakes ever… stopped to shop and parked a long way from everything as I tried to figure out all the stuff…

did manage to connect the phone and get the seat and mirrors in the right position…

then I had to take a picture so I knew what I was looking for when I came out, lol…

been exceptionally busy recently at work, but I’ve been having some great fun learning new technological things…

along with other things I’ve been doing some in-depth work in WordPress which has been great… discovering so much more of what can be done…

today I spent some fun time with a colleague as we learned a few new things about Instagram…

learning something new about technology gives me such a rush…

you can tell from the photo that we are having fun…

finished the day off with a snack of chips and Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt…

delicious… and a nice ending to the day…

last night my grandson drove me over to the grocery store where we picked up some planters and baskets filled with Christmas greenery and berries…

hard to tell from the photo I took this morning, but the planters have a wooden reindeer head in them… they are quite cute…

the baskets got plopped into two of the planters in front of the living room window…

may have to go back and pick up another couple of the baskets…

waiting for a fancy swag to arrive to hang on the front door from a fundraiser the oldest grandson is participating in…

outside decorating done;-)… although I do have an expert coming and she may have other ideas, lol…

I am laying in my bed listening to the wind whipping a loose piece of siding against the side of the house… it is very loud and seems to be never ending… wondering if I am going to get any sleep tonight…

spent the last few days taking most everything out of the bedroom, so it could get painted today…

made me review each of the items as I was moving them out of the space… there will be less coming back in… more items for the pass along box;-)… actually I’ve already filled two boxes up…

shopped for some different window coverings and came up with these curtains…

I think I like the second option of how to hang them… will leave them this way for a while and see how it feels…

so, the room is very bare and unfortunately the painting didn’t happen today…

trying to decide how much to put back in while I wait for the new look, lol…

been doing a bit of reading on taking better photos with my iPhone…

today I spent some time working on a reflection picture… here’s one of the pictures that came out fairly well… maybe not as dark as it should have been…

then it was out and about for lunch and our play at PTE…

lunch was a lovely treat…salad rolls and a noodle bowl at Nhu Quynh on Ellice… delicious, and I even managed to bring some home for tomorrow…

the Christmas decorations at Portage Place were pretty, so I took a few pictures… then on to the play… the set was made up of suitcases… very cool…

had some of a dark chocolate Callebaut bar... delicious…

then home for a nap… was up very early this morning…

had a wonderful lunch today at the Alt Hotel… was there to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and hear the stories of four women who are changing the world, or at least their small corner of it…

started with a nice fresh salad…

the space is very simple, but comfortable… and the rooms we were in were bright and modern…

the main course was mushroom stuffed chicken breast with roasted vegetables and a delicious sauce…

when it arrived I was thinking it was kind of small… but then I tasted it… yummy, and filling…

for dessert we had creme brûlée….

one of my all time favourites… and so good… had to kind of gulp it down so that I could take some video of the speakers, lol…

the food comes from the Merchant Kitchen which is right next door to the hotel…

all of the staff were pleasant and eager to make our experience the best it could be…

thinking about what else we might do there…

took a few shots of the amaryllis and paper whites tonight…

they are both starting to sprout and grow up… will be interesting to see if they actually bloom…

also enjoyed a few minutes with the flowers…

then I headed outside for a late night hot tub… Krevco came and replaced the heater on Friday… when I opened the cover the temperature was 90… rather disappointing, sigh…

guess I’ll be giving them a call tomorrow…

Shadow went in for an exploratory checkup on Monday, following the accident….

it seems like I waited a long time for them to complete the inspection…

when they gave the car back to me, the list of things that need to be replaced was very long… now they send the information off to MPI and await approval… then the repair place will order the parts and call me to make an appointment…

seems like a long process…

hope she looks as good as new when they are done…

friends and acquaintances are dealing with family health issues all around them, as well as their own…

have been spending time thinking of each of them over the last week…

on a more positive side, I am starting to feel better, which is wonderful news…

a while ago my oldest asked why I left the cupboard door to the garbage open…

I think it is so I can have access all the time, but it did make me think back to years ago when one of my best friends always had her drawers and cupboard doors open when she was cooking…

seemed dangerous and made me crazy…

so it was a bit humorous that apparently I have started to leave this one door open…

this morning there was a tiny rainbow in the kitchen as I was taking the picture…

have to think about this a bit more and maybe start closing it …
