I was up before the alarm… and saw this lovely view out the stairwell window as the sun was rising…

as I turned my head I spotted this squirrel that was clearly overseeing its empire…

just like I was, lol…

for the last few months my arm has been sore… between my elbow and shoulder… it was particularly bothersome when shampooing my hair…
I decided to see my physiotherapist once I got home from Maui, because it seemed to be getting worse, or not getting better…
while we were away, I mentioned this to my daughter…
she shared that one of her colleagues had the same problem and had just discovered that it was from using her phone…
oh dear…
while we were gone I didn’t use my phone nearly as much as normal, and it did appear to be improving…
since I’ve been home I’ve cut back on my phone usage… not near as many games of solitaire, lol…

still doing better, but I think the tv remote isn’t helping, lol…

spent some time in the garden reading this afternoon…

I’ve also been watching the birds…
yesterday I spotted a couple of finches and have been hoping to get a photo of them so I can identify them… I even took my camera upstairs and left it on the landing hoping I might spot them again when going up or down the stairs…
no luck so far, but there are at least four different types of sparrows out there;-)…
and the creeping Charlie is starting to bloom…

spent time doing laundry today…
made me think of my mom… she loved doing laundry… she liked being able to get stains out, the tidy piles of clean and fresh smelling clothing, and the pleasure of knowing that items were ready for everyone to wear…
she worked with a wringer washer for many years…
I had to search to find a photo of what the one we had looked like… something like this one which I found on the internet…
during her last years she had to use a laundry room just across from their apartment…
I wonder how she would have liked the new washers and driers…
I don’t dislike doing laundry, but certainly don’t love it, lol…

was recently talking with someone about being brave…
made me think back to our trip to Mexico when we went down to the ocean floor wearing these 60 pound helmets… we were there to see the stingrays…
we told the team that I was claustrophobic, just in case I couldn’t stay down in the water… I hung onto the rail for dear life, lol… I thought that the divers came by a few times, but apparently they came by every minute or so to be sure I was okay…

but I did it… and have the photo to prove it…
while we were on Maui I tried stand up paddle boarding… and I did it, well, for about five minutes, lol… of course my daughter did hold the board while I got on…

this afternoon I went to the Zoo with friends… we spent some time checking out the new stingray exhibit… this was what had instigated the conversation around bravery… what fun…

the volunteers shared all kinds of information about the display… there are two varieties and twenty-five in total… looking forward to visiting them again;-)… no fear at all for this visit;-)…
took me back to those moments of being so scared, but doing it anyway…

I’ve been thinking of people who I know who are in the midst of difficult times…
sometimes it weighs heavy…
I’ve also been thinking of my beloved… as always the grief comes for no apparent reason… looking forward to getting to the other side…

this is the view from our bench at the Park… was happy to spend a few minutes there last week…

took these photos Sunday, on my walk in the Park…
clearly some geese were setting up their nest on the roof of the skating shelter by the Duck Pond…

sort of funny when you think that the roof on the Qualico Family Center, just a few steps away, is made of grass, lol…

this morning there were a pair of geese at the end of the street as we were heading to work… caught this cool shot of them in the rear view mirror… hope they decide to nest here…

as I walked up the street on my way home, chatted with a woman who was looking into the creek… she’s a teacher and was trying to find the beaver’s lodge so she could bring her class to see it… that’s pretty cool…
on Sunday I took this shot of one of the trees that the beaver has been working on…

as I walked up the street tonight I saw a few couples…

the mallard couple have been coming to this creek for many years… these might be the children or even grandchildren now…
a few steps further along I came across the bunny couple… they weren’t sitting quite as close together, lol…
nice walk…

big girl pants, cold, gloves, May, sandals, shivers, snowflakes, Tea, walk, widow
this morning the sun was shining as I got dressed to go for my first Spring walk to the Park…
temperature was a bit cool, right around 1° Celsius, but it looked pretty nice out…
so, I wore short pants and sandals… by the time I was heading out the door the sky looked a bit dark (like snow) so I did add my hat…
a bit of wind as I was walking, but not too bad… I had on my Spring/Fall jacket and my little gloves were in my pocket…
before too long I had on the gloves and took most of my pictures wearing them… luckily the camera doesn’t insist on bare skin the way the iPhone does, lol…
snowflakes did fall every now and then… May 5th, sigh…
I was happy to get home but didn’t realize until I was laying under a blanket with a hot cup of tea in my hands how cold I had been… I did sit in the bathroom for a while to warm my toes on the floor;-)…

my entire body shivered for ages, lol…
hope my next walk is a bit warmer…
