had the cutest little visitor today…

was very difficult for me because I’ve been dealing with some type of bug and so felt I shouldn’t hold her;-(…
my goodness, it was difficult not to just grab her for some hugs…

on my way home from work today I stopped at Co-op to fill up the tank… I do not put gas in the car, mainly because I can’t stand the smell… my beloved always looked after making sure the car was always filled and at top performance…
today marks the seventh birthday for my beloved without him… he would have been seventy…
he liked the gas at Husky… something to do with the quality… for the longest time after he died my kids would fill up the tank for me whenever it was low…
finally I went to get gas, only to learn that they hadn’t pumped gas for ages, lol… pretty embarrassing…
so, now it is Co-op for me… happily they still serve…
today I had them wash the windows and they did a great job… having worked so long at his dad’s service station my beloved was very particular about the cleaning of windshields…
he would have been happy with the job… although maybe not so pleased with how dirty the car is, lol…

for the last few years a dear friend has come over to help me with the Christmas decorating…
I’ve always loved Christmas but since the loss of my beloved it has lost a bit of its lustre…
this year I’ve been working away on my own to decorate… I decided to try some different options… took me a few weeks but it is done now…
have put my tree collection in the dining room where my pottery usually lives… and even passed along some pieces, yay for me;-)…

put up a new tree with purple and silver decorations and hung up the glass balls on either side of the picture above the sofa…

put the snow people up the stairs…

got a garland going along the ledge in the dining room… final piece was to put the glittery trees on the fish tank…

still might have my friend come by to check it all out…
then going to go through the rest of the Christmas boxes and maybe pass some decorations along to others…
there are the reindeer, the snowflakes, the nativities, the angels, the santas…

big girl pants, blessed, blog, days, loss, moments, posts, snail’s pace, widow
I wrote my first blog on December 1, 2012… it was nine months since my beloved died and I had gone through many difficult times as I learned what it meant to be a widow…
not really sure if the time has flown by or moved at a snail’s pace…
that day I was just going to see what WordPress was all about, lol…

Google tells me it has been 2191 days and I’ve posted almost every one of those and twice on a few…
that first day I put up this picture… it was of flowers that my colleagues sent me…

it is still one of my favourite shots…
every day when I write a post I check to see if the title has been used before… always interesting to see what I’ve written previously… sometimes I am surprised at what I’ve posted… other times I can remember every word…
life has changed a whole lot in six years… but I am still getting used to the new journey…
I am blessed but miss my beloved every day…

we’ve had a lovely young woman working with us for the last three months… she has been seconded from RBC and we have enjoyed having her as part of the team… the time has flown by…
a few days ago she brought gifts for everyone, as well as kind notes for each member of staff… my bracelet was purple…

today we celebrated her time with us with cupcakes and presents… there were the cutest little snow people rings on top of the cupcakes so we took a group photo;-)…

snow fell all day long yesterday and it has finally accumulated a bit… we’ve seen very little snow up till now… this was how Indi looked when I got out to the parking lot…

it wasn’t too cold and the snow was still falling gently… I actually enjoyed brushing the car off… which was funny because a man walking by asked if I was having fun… and I said yes, I was… not sure I will feel the same in a month…
last night as I was walking by the hallway window I took this picture of the beautiful scene in the garden… tonight I got a few shots of the freshly shoveled yard…

snow is so wonderful to look at when you don’t have to go out, or shovel it, lol…

been wanting to try the A&W Beyond Meat burger and finally got around to it recently…
when I first opened it, I was a bit disappointed because it didn’t look at all like the commercials, lol…
once I took it out of the wrapper and turned it around it looked very nice… it tasted like a burger, no tofu or mushroom taste…

although it is about a dollar more than a Teen Burger – my all time favourite from A&W – I would order it again…
glad that I finally had the opportunity to check it out…

we haven’t had much snow so far… on Sunday I walked over to meet my family for breakfast…
snow was gently falling and it was beautiful…
stopped along the way and took this shot of snow on a truck which was right by the sidewalk…

then I got my camera out and took some snowflake pictures… enjoyed the chance to spend some time playing with the camera…

reminded me of all the times that my beloved and I would go places so that I could take pictures… I sure do miss him…

I’ve worn contact lenses off and on for 40 years although for the last few years I haven’t worn any, as I’ve had a bit of trouble with my eyesight and some infections in my eyes…
have gone through a period where I didn’t see as well with the contacts in, so there wasn’t much sense in wearing them…
got a new prescription a while back and the other day when I put my contacts in I realized that one was missing… couldn’t find it anywhere around the sink so just thought “I guess it’s gone”…
first time I’ve ever lost a contact like that although over the years my beloved was always there to help me if I did misplace one…

when I got home from work that night I discovered the contact sitting on the edge of the sink, all dried up… too funny…
just a few days ago I took my contacts out and put my glasses on, only to realize that I still had a contact in one of my eyes…
not sure if this is a sign of old age, or what…
