to continue with the strength of the sun, I got this photo of one of the solar-powered lights…
it is one of four that I received from the Ottawa kids… I had put three away, but left this one out…
rather excited to see the lovely pattern of light on the deck;-)…
spring is really coming…

the butterflies are free;-)…
the closed in piece is still in the centre, but the door has been removed…
butterflies were flitting about all over the space… yay…
there weren’t too many, but it may have been the end of the two week cycle…
so happy to see them free and all the people sitting in the space watching them…

went out for a hot tub on Sunday afternoon… and tested out my new toque…
can’t even remember the last time I was out in the daytime… it has been too cold at night and when it wasn’t the deck hadn’t been shovelled, lol…
I went out a few days ago and got the space cleared off so it was ready…
it was only -21°C and I had a lovely time, although the mitten that I had put the phone into got wet while I was taking pictures, lol…
sometimes the lens gets a bit foggy when taking pictures from the tub…
the mountain of snow is quite high and I am hoping we can move some of it because it is getting difficult to throw the snow over the top of it;-)…

I’ve been watching the solar lights in the garden over the last few days and have noticed that they are lighting up, having not been working for the last few months…
clearly the sun is getting much stronger, even though it has been cold…
so, tonight I was trying to get a shot of the solar light on the deck working and was stunned to see a coyote cross the pond and go behind the tarp which covers the outdoor furniture…
of course, I wasn’t fast enough to catch it in a photo…
I am a bit worried that it might be using the tarp as a den, so we will have to check into that in the morning 😬…

Monday night I went out for a hot tub…
it had been warm during the day and there were a ton of icicles over the tub, so I sat in the opposite corner from usual so nothing could fall onto my head, lol…
as I stepped outside I could hear the ice crystals falling so I grabbed my cap to protect my glasses…
it was a bit chilly for anything above the water as the ice crystals continued to fall…
I am still having trouble with the Ring light, which I have to turn off from the garage, no matter what I try on the app…
I was out for quite a while and when I came inside I realized how much snow had come down, lol…

woke up early, and for whatever reason, decided to look out the front window…
the moon was still up and shining brightly, and at the bottom of the bird feeders I spotted a bunny friend…
it was busy eating the seeds that had blown out of the feeders during all the strong winds over the last day or so…
I stood watching it for quite a while, before heading back to bed… it is very interesting to watch the way they move…
and I love that cute little white tail…

had a most wonderful visit with a dear friend who I haven’t seen for ages…
one of those people where the conversation just continues as though you’d seen one another the day before…
lots of talk about plants and gardens and how integral they are for both of us…
health and family also were covered…
and I received a container of delicious date squares…
so blessed to have time with special people…

Monday morning the sun was shining, woohoo…
I was so excited about it that I did some of my steps in the kitchen, as the sun shone onto me…
I was so happy about the beautiful light that I didn’t even take a photo, lol…
it looked a lot better in the sunshine…
over the last few months there have been so many overcast days, not our usual sunshine…
climate change is certainly creating havoc with our weather…

early Saturday morning I went out to cover the garden furniture with a tarpaulin before the rain started…
it took a while, but eventually I got it all covered and also moved all the rocks that had come out of the pond…
now the garden is ready for winter…

Saturday’s project was to transplant the lemon tree and the fern…
had to run out to the garage to get gloves and into the basement for a pail and spoon, lol…
after a bit of digging and mess-making the two plants were in their new pots, trimmed, fertilized, and watered…
the fern was absolutely jammed into the pot and took quite a bit of work to get it thinned out, cut back and set into its new home…
it was much simpler to put the lemon tree into the larger pot and add some soil… it looks good;-)… I cannot remember when I started this, maybe this spring or last spring, lol…
hopefully they will both thrive…
