what a wonderful afternoon yesterday… although it was hot, my garden designer came and spent a few hours rearranging pots and plants and other goodies…
we moved, and moved items again, until the garden looked just so…
a few jobs left for my grandson when he comes next… lifting a few heavy things and digging in a few lights…
what fun to have a fresh set of eyes… and someone who is perfectly fine if I don’t care for the placement of items…
had an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday as he wasn’t thrilled with the blood pressure readings I was giving him on our last phone call…
he had suggested that I have my meter recalibrated, but when I contacted the company they advised it was so old they didn’t support it any longer…
I bought a new one and took it with me to see him…
my blood pressure was still high on my machine, but was good on the one in the office… I had to adjust where it sat on my arm and will hope I get it right going forward…
all in all, it was a good appointment and the meds don’t need to be changed…
the really good news is I only have to take it a few times a month;-)…
I’ve been checking around for purple butterfly bush with no success… last year I was able to get some from a local nursery, but they haven’t been able to acquire any this season…
eventually I found some online at Home Depot, so I ordered them… wasn’t sure what I would get, but was hopeful…
Friday, two boxes were delivered and the plants looked good…
I decided to keep them in the house until later in the day, when I put them in a shady spot to get used to being outside…
very happy with the purchase… hoping they enjoy their new homes in the garden…
I had made breakfast and brought it out to the back deck to enjoy…
I realized that a plant pot next to the waterfall needed to be turned so that more sunlight would encourage the dahlia to grow…
I stood on one of the blocks surrounding the waterfall area and a stone and started to turn the pot…
and I fell backwards into the top portion of the pond… in an effort to save myself, I grabbed the waterfall rock… it broke off in my hands and I ended up sitting in the water…
as you can imagine, I was rather shocked… I quickly removed my phone from my back pocket and put it on the stone surround as I tried to figure out how to get out…
there was blood on my hands and when I lifted my right foot there was blood on my toes as well…
after I removed my flip flops, I was able to slowly and carefully get out…
I went into the house, took off the wet clothes and sat down for a few minutes… eventually I called and spoke with my daughter and settled down, lol…
after a shower to get rid of the pond smell I sat in the garden and texted with a friend about what I needed to do for my hands and foot…
polysporin for my hands, soaking and more polysporin for my foot and quiet time for the rest of the day, trying not to use my hands too much or get them dirty…
over twenty-five years with ponds in the garden and this was the first time I fell in…
I have been spending as much time as possible in the garden during these lovely days, enjoying every moment…
today, I put an umbrella on the hibiscus, which is getting a sunburn, even though I hardened it off… I came across the umbrella yesterday in the shed and it worked perfectly…
I switched two planters on the deck so that I can see the morning glories more easily… one of the chairs has been in front of them, so it hasn’t been as easy to see them… this will be much better…
finally I cleaned the pump again… I am getting good at it, lol… it makes a huge difference to the water flow…
I also followed the shade around the space as it was very hot in the sun…
I am so blessed to have the time and space to be able to enjoy the garden each and every day…
took a walk around the garden this afternoon to see how everything is doing in this rather chilly and wet weather…
over the winter the bunnies were nibbling on the lilac so I was worried as to whether it would survive… last week I saw a few bits of green on it and today it has tiny buds… yay;-)…
the two morning glories and basil seem to be doing okay… they were the only plants I have left out… although I did read today that basil doesn’t like the cold and may end up stunted, so we will see…
spent a few minutes in the garage to see how all the plants are fairing in there… it isn’t heated, but certainly warmer than the garden, lol…
happy to spot a little morning glory blooming there…
it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow… maybe I will be able to plant a few baskets…
