for Easter dinner this year, we had barbecued steak, twice-stuffed potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and caesar salad…
I’d had great fun the day before, setting the table and adding a few Easter-y details…
dinner was delicious and we had carrot cake to finish it off…
wonderful to have a houseful of young people, lol… and between them the table was cleared and the kitchen cleaned up…
what a treat….

a while ago, when I opened one of the drawers in the dining room, I realized that the bottom was coming away from the sides…
this had nothing to do with the weight of the dishes in the drawer🤪…
I mentioned it to my middle grandson, who advised he could fix it… he’s been a few times since then, but it finally worked out when he was here yesterday, for Easter dinner…
I had emptied the drawer before he came to help speed along the process…
it took a few trips to the basement for tools and a struggle with warped wood, but he got it fixed…
still waiting to put things back into it, after I remove some of the items that had been in it…
obviously there will be something for the pass-along box;-)…

I often have an afternoon nap in the den…
I’ve found, for most of the winter, that I needed my blanket to be up by my neck because of the draft…
I just figured that the window needed some insulation…
a few days ago, I realized that there was a piece of virginia creeper between the window and the screen… and of course I didn’t take a before picture, lol…
yesterday, my housemate was able to dislodge it and close the window properly…
no draft now…

my phone case was starting to show its age, so I spent time researching what was out there to replace it…
having the spot where cards and a bit of money fit makes it easy for me just to take the phone and not need a purse…
took quite a while, but eventually I found two that I thought might work…
ordered both and discovered, for now, that the smaller one will work perfectly;-)…
the best thing is that it doesn’t have a zipper, like my last one, where the pull tab kept finding its way into my photos, lol… and it is very slim…
the part that makes me giggle is that it is harder to tell the top from the bottom when I take it out of my pocket…

got to sit outside on the deck Sunday morning… yay:-)…
moved the chairs into their usual spots, took off the covers, brought out the clean cushions, and put them on the chairs…
got out the broom and swept up the cedar bits and elm leaves that were all over the deck… even used the leaf blower to finish up…
put on a light jacket and brought out tea and my book and enjoyed the sun, birdsong, and my book for a wonderful hour and a half;-)…
haven’t made it out since then, what with the snow and overcast skies🥺…

as I was laying in bed Sunday morning I heard my first geese flying overhead… woohoo…
just a few days ago I spotted some at Assiniboine Park in one of the fields…
I do love the sound as they fly past and it is certainly notification that Spring is really on the way…
I saw some later as they flew past the tree next door… sadly they didn’t end up in the picture, lol…

was out for a hot tub at 2:00 am, Sunday morning after the F1 race at Suzuka, Japan ended…
it was lovely, although overcast, but the trees were completely still and the temperature was nice as well…
then, when I got out, it became clear that the back hinge on the right arm had disconnected… yikes…
I tried a few ways to get it to close, but couldn’t get it done…
came in with one side left open… will have to see what we can do to fix it, sigh…
later in the day, my housemate was outside and was able to haul it back onto the hot tub…
now to figure out how to solve the problem of broken arms, sigh…

while we were out last Sunday I picked up flowers…
when I got home, I spent time putting them into a couple of vases… for whatever reason I wasn’t pleased with how they looked…
late in the week they were finally redone, with one bouquet in the den, one in the bathroom, and one in the bedroom, although it lived on the stairway for a while, lol…
happy to have fresh flowers in the house;-)…

so happy because, finally, on Tuesday, we were able to pull the covers, that were frozen to the deck, off the chairs…
I was very frustrated because I couldn’t do it on my own and had to wait for my housemate to get home… much stronger arms, lol…
three of the six cushions had to go into the bathtub to dry as they were all very wet…
the other three just went by the backdoor, although likely the covers will come off and go into the washer, lol…
the chairs were covered again and moved away from the snow and ice…
it was warm enough Tuesday, that I could have sat outside for awhile…
once the cushions dried out, I removed the covers, washed and dried them, and then struggled to put them back together…
and now they are waiting to get back outside…
after the snow😔… maybe tomorrow🤞…
