the self-sown morning glories in the front flowerbed have exploded with all this rain and cooler weather…

finally walked over to the Park this morning…
started with breakfast at the Park Cafe… I really enjoyed the falafels…
from there it was over to the English Garden which is just gorgeous right now…
I found a lovely rose, just after we saw a hummingbird, although it moved too fast for me to get a photo…
in the Leo Mol Arbor we spotted one of the muskrats;-)…
had some fun with water lilies and frogs at the lily pond…
the gardens were being prepped for the big donor event this week… pressure washers were cleaning up the concrete, while lights were being added to the trees throughout the space… it will look lovely in the evening;-)…

this morning, when I was checking out the morning glories, I discovered this part of the vine which was growing from one side of the deck boards to the other side…
hopefully it will be one of these beauties that opens on the other side…
nature is so clever…

such fun today when I was at The Leaf…
in the Mediterranean biome I took a few photos of the stunning magnolia flowers… there are two trees… one is high up and the second is one of the espaliered trees along the windows;-)… sadly, too far away to enjoy the scent…
when I was in the Butterfly Garden a friend decided to visit me and tickled my neck for a few minutes…
great day;-)…

the red hibiscus is very happy with two or three blooms every day…
the new purple one seems pretty happy as well…
they do much better when it rains than the morning glories, lol…
the morning glories do well, as long as they remain dry…
the mandevilla has so far opened one bloom, but a few are getting ready… they take much longer to open than any of the other plants…
it is great fun first thing each morning to walk around the garden to see what flowers have opened…

had a lovely time on Monday taking photos of the water lilies in the Leo Mol Garden…
it sprinkled a few times throughout my time there, so I did end up putting on and taking off my rain jacket, lol…
there were also quite a few frogs in the pond and I do love to search them out and get a few pictures, lol…
too bad I didn’t have my Nikon so I could have gotten closer shots…the warm water in the lily pond certainly helps with all the blooms…
there are also lilies in the arbour pond, but more pads, than lilies…
reminded me of my art installation…

a few weeks ago I picked a beautiful ripe tomato from the tomato plant… when I turned it over it had blossom rot and I had to toss it..
last week I picked another one that had just started to turn the slightest shade of orange… it went onto a shelf in the kitchen and turned nicely red, and when it was turned over the bottom was perfect;-)… and it made a lovely open-faced sandwich…
today I took off the next tomato, this one is a bit smaller, but I am hopeful that it will ripen without the blossom rot;-)…
hoping that this will turn into another beauty…

the blue morning glories have taken off;-)…
yesterday I sat in the garden and watched three of them bloom over half an hour…
it is quite spectacular to almost see them opening as you watch…

was up early this morning and went out to sit in the garden… it was a bit chilly, so I had a blanket around my shoulders…
it was sunny at that point, although the weather network was suggesting it would rain for a good portion of the day, so I decided to enjoy the weather while I could…
usually I would read, but instead, this morning I just watched the antics of the critters in the garden…
as I sat there the birds were visiting the suet and a bunny was snacking on the clover close to me…
what a treat;-)…

the red squirrels have been able to fit inside the frame that is supposed to protect the squirrels from getting to the seeds…
I wasn’t particularly worried about them sliding into the feeder until I looked at the feeder today, sigh…
they have eaten through the plastic and pretty much destroyed the feeder…
so, the next feeder needs to be only made of metal and glass, because plastic cannot win against squirrel…
