summer is here and I am doing my best to cherish every minute of it…
spent the day in the garden… a bit of deadheading and weeding, and lots of time enjoying my current book, which a friend just gifted me a few days ago…
after the crew came and mowed, whipper snipped, and tidied the grass, I put back a few pieces of furniture that I’d moved to make their job easier…
the clematis is filled with buds and I expect they will open in the next few days…
even managed to water the houseplants and produce a few meals… all of which were eaten outdoors…
the weather was lovely… sunny and warm, not too hot, with a slight breeze…
the poppies are nearly done… they don’t particularly enjoy rain…once they are finished the rest of the perennials will show themselves, lol…
the sounds of the two ponds running and the odd bird made for a relaxing time…
to top off the day I received three water hyacinths which have gone right into the pond;-)… the fish are going to enjoy them and maybe babies will hide amongst their roots…
Friday I went shopping for lilacs… at my neighbour’s… with permission, lol…
they were heading away for the weekend and she texted me to offer them up… she knows how I love lilacs… and I think theirs are so pretty with the white around the edges…
I had just come home from an appointment and noticed that the bushes on the next street over were blooming and I was contemplating asking if I might cut some…
I got a pailful and filled two vases… one has been outside with me and the other has perfumed the main floor;-)…
I watched a Ducks Unlimited webinar a few days ago on dragonflies and damselflies…
it was interesting and I learned some new things about them… I also learned more about iNaturalist, a free app that I have on the phone…
up until now, I’ve usually used Merlin to search out a species, whether birds or other creatures… going forward I will try to use iNaturalist to record what I find… and I will be what they call a citizen scientist, lol…
recorded this little flycatcher… first time I’ve seen one of them;-)…
recently I came across a couple of pictures of cherry trees from April a number of years ago…
this first photo, which I took at the Filberg Festival in Courtenay, BC in 2011, won us a trip to Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa to enjoy their Pacific Mist hydropath…
this photo was taken in New York, NY, in 2016… I think it was in Central Park..
cherry trees are just so beautiful, and clearly April is a blooming month for them;-)…
it is fun when memories remind me of special times…
