I’ve been a bit lonely over the last week or so… most Christmases my older daughter and her husband have come home… it didn’t work out this year…

was out in the hot tub this morning, first time in ages… a bit later these two pictures came up in my Facebook memories…

the first is deadly chocolate mousse cake, her favourite… I always make sure to have it in the house when she comes… in fact whenever I go to visit her, I take some as well… we always have the cake for breakfast, which the grandsons think is amazing;-)…

the second is of our water boots from last Christmas… she loves the hot tub and our usual pattern is a late night dip before bed…

it was my other son-in-law who suggested water boots many years ago… they work perfectly so that my feet never get cold or snowy…

today I spent some time cooking… turkey and dumplings, and mashed potato and garlic soup…

they both came out pretty tasty, although I am not going to be able to have the potato soup for work lunches because it reeks of garlic, lol…

time with friends… had a wonderful afternoon with a very crafty group of women…

there was knitting, colouring, collage-ing, crocheting, eating, drinking, and lots of conversation…

my project…

it is going to be a blanket for my bed… I worked on it while I was there and when I got home…

this morning as I was crocheting away I realized that it was way too long, sigh… would have been great for someone seven feet tall, lol…

so I unraveled it and started over…

this time it will be about four feet wide which should work nicely on the bed…

back to crocheting;-)…

this morning I spent time using the new computer…

the pictures are all in one folder which I have started to go through looking for duplicates… so happy they are all in the same place… I used to have to go searching through a number of drives to find some of them…

while I was sorting out various bookmarks I noticed that I now have 300 followers… this is much more visible viewed on the computer… kind of giggled because the number has been hovering just under for quite some time…

also, I’ve noticed many people or organizations celebrating ten or fifteen thousand followers… makes my 300 seem rather inconsequential…

but it made me happy…

shortly before that I had watched beautiful sun dogs out the back… first ones I’ve seen this season…

another wonderful day…

grandson slept over… we made breakfast and then spent a few hours doing a cleanup in the computer room… filled bags of garbage, recycling and a few boxes of giveaways…

my grandson figured out how to get my 500 plus songs onto Google Play… it took about four hours… I am so happy to have them available…

he took out all the trash and then we ran over to Best Buy to pick up a few more plugs for my Google Home… had lunch at Freshii and then back home to connect one of the plugs…

the Himalayan Salt Lamp is now able to turn on and off by voice…

then my work computer person came over and moved computers, drives, pictures and got Outlook working for me… I am very pleased…

now to rest;-)…

on Christmas Eve day I bought some new plates I’d been eyeing for a while…

last night we used them for Christmas dinner…

today I had to find a place to put them… had a good time going through one of the kitchen cupboards and making space… was able to let a number of things go which always makes me happy…

later in the day I spent some time searching for something on the hallway bookshelf… and in the process was able to set aside a number of children’s books… again, way to go me…

dishes have been put away, give aways packed up, and books ready to be picked up by a young friend…

had a lovely day…

up at 5 to FaceTime and exchange gifts with the Ottawa kids…

my son-in-law was working so he left the house around 6… this year it wasn’t nearly as cold as last, lol… which was good… last year when he headed off it was -40 with the windchill… this morning, when I checked a while after he’d gone it was only -18… practically a heat wave…

everyone was up by about 7:30, so I didn’t even have to bang pots…

thoughtful gifts were shared and everyone was pleased with their haul…

one of my gifts was a lovely top with herons on it and another was a Fitbit Charge 3 which I have been eyeing for quite some time;-)…

we had a sausage, potato, spinach and cheese casserole and then headed off to the movies…

went to see The Grinch at Grant Park… the theatre has what appear to be recliners for everyone to sit in and you pick your seat ahead of time (like on planes)… we sat in the wrong ones but eventually got to the right spot…

then it was on to my house where naps were had by many as the dinner cooked…

supper was ready as the daddy arrived just after 7… delicious turkey dinner followed by his presents, a few minutes of device time and away they went…

a bit of time tidying up and now I am relaxing in front of the tv… wondering how long I will stay awake, lol…

yesterday a couple of fun things happened…

I took a picture of my The Chocolate Lab bonbon in front of the purple dragonfly on the Christmas tree…

not that big a deal, except that a picture of me opening that ornament from its box in 2013 on day 23 of Advent came up in my Facebook feed just a little while later;-)…

and then to top that, I decided to put on a pair of fuzzy socks as the floor was a bit chilly… I don’t usually wear them, but had an urge this morning…

these were from last year’s day 23;-)…

and look what else came up in my feed, lol…

today was filled with activity…

started the day with a few pictures of my orchid…

then I prepped potatoes, turnip, stuffing for Christmas dinner and prepared twice stuffed potatoes for tonight’s supper…

it had snowed more overnight and in the morning… there was a lot of snow out there…

the kids arrived and we ran around getting a few last minute items… there were many, many people in all the places we went… particularly the parking lots…

home, dinner cooked, eaten and a bit of relaxing before everyone headed home…

this morning giant snowflakes were gently falling when I first got up…

my friends were coming for brunch, so I was busy getting a few things done…

I eventually took a few pictures but by that time the snow had changed so wasn’t nearly as pretty, lol…

just before my company arrived I went out and shovelled the sidewalk as the snow clearer hadn’t turned up…

it sure was pretty, before I shovelled…

the driveway and sidewalk are now cleared, hurray;-)…

as I learn more and more about my new camera I am very pleased with it….

the one disappointing thing is that the battery runs down rather quickly… all of a sudden it will announce that the battery is exhausted… and not always at an opportune time, lol…

I’ve tried taking out the card and uploading it to my iPhone in case the transferring is using it up…

not sure that is the issue…

have also been struggling with the downloading… at first it worked perfectly and then all of a sudden it wouldn’t connect…

hoping to get to the camera store over the break to get a lesson…
