been spending a bit of time each morning reading before heading off to work…
this morning, instead of reading I was in the garden, topping up the pond… clearly it has been hot and the water has been evaporating…
it was lovely to spend the early morning outdoors listening to birdsong and running water…
of course, the hope is that I won’t have to do this too often, lol…

I was so excited yesterday when the sound of the waterfall filled the garden…
the kids came over and did a number of jobs around the house and garden… I had made a list for each person of what needed to be done and the items were checked off one by one…
my son-in-law dealt with the pond… he did have a bit of help from the younger boys as they helped clean out the leaves…
the pond was up and running before supper… after supper the fish moved from their winter condo to their summer home… they are really big now although for a while they will be hiding as they get reacquainted with the space…
tonight all the windows are open and I can hear the sound of running water…

yesterday when we were out we picked up two trellises…
had to replace the sunshine frame that the clematis grew up on the wall at the side of the house… last year when the roofers were here it got broken in a couple of spots…
here is a photo from a while back that shows how it used to look…below the frame my beloved had placed chicken wire to help the clematis make it up to the frame, lol…
and this is how it looks today…
the timing was great because it is just starting to leaf out… it was funny to see the shadow of the frame on the wall when we took it off… you can actually spot the curve in the centre at the top of the trellises… should have taken a picture, lol…
also going to be easier to pull out and plug in the hot tub…
looks great;-)… might just pick up another clematis to add to it…

this morning my daughter and I went shopping…
started at Lowe’s where we chose a few plants and a couple of trellises for the clematis…
then it was over to Costco where we picked up groceries and a few more plants…
stopped to pick up lunch at a new burger place close to home… had been following them for a while on social media and was eager to try them out… a bit disappointing… ordinary burgers and although there were lots of fries, they were stubby, and not that tasty… and it was expensive… oh well…
after a nap I had a hot tub and sat on the deck reading for a while…
tomorrow I will do some planting…

set the alarm for 4 this morning to watch the Royal Wedding…
got some shortbread cookies from the freezer, almonds and Morden’s dark chocolate wafers… made tea and had it in a mug that had a bunch of birds perched on a branch, looking at something… lovely little treat as I watched…
had a nap later in the day and then spent some time reading in the sunshine…
baked some chicken, mashed cauliflower and coleslaw… it was very tasty…
reminded me of my mother-in-law who made delicious coleslaw, and a lovely elder who taught me to make coleslaw for large groups… I still use the recipe that has to be divided by four to make a reasonable amount for a family, lol…

this morning I put on those big girl pants and headed out to Birchwood Toyota… in the rain… to pick up my tires…
when I took Shadow to trade her for Indi, she still had her winter tires on… got a call about a week ago saying they were ready for pick up…
had a bit of a giggle when I pulled up to one of the three service bay doors… hadn’t realized that it said Lexus on it while the other two said Toyota… a service guy had me move, lol…
once in the bay a kind man went and found my tires, wrapped them up and put them into the car for me…
once home I was able to get them out of the car and piled them up in the corner… I couldn’t lift them to their spot in the shelf, but will have my son-in-law or grandson do it next time they are here… was rather proud that I had managed to get them moved…
and only broke one nail…

the sky was absolutely amazing this morning…
I took these pictures between 6:07 and 7:15 am…
the sunrise was spectacular… on the drive downtown the sunlight was streaming through the clouds… not a single red light all the way to the office… and by the time I got there the clouds had filled the sky…
just before I left the office for the weekend, I got a photo of my amethysts… today we heard a designer talk about the importance of feeling good in your workspace and as I get used to my office I do enjoy all of the bits and pieces that make it mine and make me feel happy…
once I arrived home I took a picture of a piece of the Rice Krispie cake that my sweet colleague brought me this afternoon…
was so busy getting ready to leave the house early this morning that I forgot to take something out for dinner, but made a veggie omelette… it was tasty…
and now for a four day weekend;-)…

started my day at the QNET conference where we heard great information on change from Janet Lapp…
from there I raced over to the RBC Convention Centre to staff a trade show booth at Vision Quest…
at one point, the morning keynote speaker used our booth to sign autographs and take pictures with participants…
I’m still thinking about the fact that two events took place on the same day that started with the letter “q“…

took some nice shots over the last few days… the cloud formation was very pretty last night… and this morning I took a few photos of the flowers that we picked up yesterday… one is quite beautiful, called starry sky… it is a petunia and I’m not fond of them but it was too beautiful not to bring home…
once I got home tonight I walked over to the Yafa Cafe to meet my buddies for a birthday dinner… we tried a number of items and enjoyed them all…
