the weather has been decidedly crazy lately…
last week I wore sandals to work… since then there have been threats of snow almost daily…
happily, for many of the days, at least the sun was shining…
nearly everyone I talk to has been feeling crummy with the up and down temperatures… hard to know whether to wear a light jacket, the middle jacket or the really heavy duty cold one…
hard to believe we haven’t had much snow at all this winter considering that it’s been so cold…
crazy…

had a wonderful day… treated to a manicure and lunch with a very special person…
after our manicures we went a few doors down and had lunch… she started with a fancy cup of coffee and I asked for a cup of tea, but they don’t have tea on the menu… something about doing things well, and just focusing on coffee…
we shared a yummy cauliflower, roasted sweet potato and kale salad… then I had a carbonara pasta topped with shrimp… very tasty… she had a pizza named after a person, lol…
as we ordered our dessert my friend asked for plain coffee and was told they only make the fancy type… so, no regular coffee or tea… odd…
after we finished lunch, I headed home and spent the afternoon deep in a book… another treat as I haven’t done much reading lately…
final treat of the day was having the cleaning crew come and freshen up the house…
very nice end to the Easter weekend…

yesterday, while my grandson was here we set the table for Easter dinner…
together we decided on the tablecloth, dishes, platters, bowls, and how we would put the gifts on the plates… I used to buy books for all the special times, but now they are bigger I give them gift cards so they can make their own choice of something to read… also had a chocolate bunny for each of them…
while we were out shopping we picked up an angel food cake, strawberries and whipping cream for dessert… he cut the strawberries up before he left…
when the family arrived this afternoon the boys searched for treats from the Easter bunny… they found tons of mini eggs…
I had Easter treats too… got myself a beautiful heart-shaped amethyst from Poco Inspired, the kids brought me a bag of Ferrero Rocher mini eggs, and apparently there is a bag on my daughter’s mantle in Ottawa waiting for me;-)…

so happy to see the Japanese Maple budding out with new leaves…
for a little while there I was thinking that it was really done…
this maple has travelled from Vancouver Island across the prairies in the back seat of a car, which makes it special… sometimes I have been a bit slow to bring it into the house in the Fall… thought for a short time I’d really messed up…
so I was very happy to see those leaves…
Spring really is coming…

my middle grandson came over this morning to spend the night…
first thing we did was change the display in the living room table… took out the Chihuly bits and put in shells, books and rocks…
he has an artistic streak so it was fun to watch as he decided what needed to go where…
off to the Park, where we had brunch, walked through the Conservatory, and stopped by the Zoo to see if his toque had turned up in the lost and found…
sadly, no toque…
home for a rest and then some roasted lamb for our supper…
it was cooked perfectly…
lovely day filled with special moments…

day started sunny, but cold… then mid morning it started to snow…
the sun was back as we headed home…
the sunlight in the dining room shone on the bunnies…
although one of my grandsons said the wire one looked like a bird on Sunday, lol…
in the living room the flowers shone…
sunlight and shadows are so beautiful…
really happy to have the next four days off…

yesterday my day was filled with lots of treats…
in the morning I received a lovely invitation to lunch and time at a spa…
at noon a colleague treated me to lunch… it was tasty…
and in the evening one of my BS buddies brought us chocolate from Florida and fresh baked cookies…
I certainly am blessed in so many ways…

had a few moments of fun today…
got our picture by the Winnipeg sign and one of a couple of geese there as well…
interesting how the Winnipeg sign draws me like a magnet whenever I am in the vicinity, lol…
the giggle was walking through some muddy paths to get to the photo op…
and then at the office I completely missed the beautiful job of reframing one of my colleagues did…
now the office is done;-)…

been waiting to go to Canadian Tire to pick up new wheel covers for Shadow… this is the final piece following her accident, although I have to be back in touch with MPI to be reimbursed…
wasn’t 100% sure what I needed so I waited for a day when my son-in-law was available… today we ran over and found just the right covers, and when we got home he installed them…
as we arrived home a group of Canada geese flew over the house… can’t decide if it was a skein, a wedge or a team, lol… very exciting… made the dull overcast seem less oppressive… a sure sign of Spring…
ended the day with barbecued steak for our dinner…
the last bit of ice in the covered entryway to the backyard has also been removed which makes me happy…
now to watch the Junos…
