spent time walking and came across this tiny field of daisies…
and these sweet little forget-me-nots…
and later, just as we were putting supper on the table, we had this guest at the feeder…
beautiful end to a lovely day…

had decided to do nothing today… just rest up…
but, I headed into the garden and filled three more pots with the last of the plants I bought weeks ago…
the darn squirrels have already dug out one of the lobelias… shoved it back in, so hope it grows…
pleased with the morning glories that I planted around the deck… looks like the majority are growing… sadly most of the alyssum did not make it, so will need to replace it…
the garden is a bit overgrown but looks beautiful in pictures, lol…
still plan on trimming the daisies soon…
been having trouble getting into gardening this year… missing my beloved and not enjoying my time in the garden so much…
think I need to find a gardener to come and get some of the major weeding done as my grandson is not going to be available nearly as much as last year… I like to do a bit of weeding but am feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work required now…
walked to the grocery store and got some shots of a tree down the street which had blown over… bunny stopped by as I was taking my pictures, lol…
so apparently I did stuff most of the day… even made potato salad for tomorrow’s dinner…
now to get to that do nothing place;-)… tv, a snack and bed…

woke up just before 5 to go to the bathroom and when I put on my glasses saw this beautiful moon out the window…
usually I see the moon out the window between 10:30 and 11:30 pm… seemed odd to see it so early in the morning, and was happy to get a great photo…
almost forgot to put out the garbage and recycling on my way to the garage… then I took a few pictures of the clematis… was surprised at how many flowers were open…
there are tons of blooms on it and more opening every day… starting the day looking at flowers is the best…
to top off the day, as I was making my supper I looked out and saw this goldfinch at the feeder…
haven’t seen many so far this year… got the best photo from upstairs…
sure am happy it is Friday…

started the day by seeing a cute bunny as I was backing out of the driveway…
stopped and spent a moment savouring the wonderfulness around us…
then, mid morning, a former colleague and her sweet baby stopped by for a visit… more cuteness…
she is a bit shy so was happiest in mommy’s arms, lol…
around noon another colleague came for a visit with her adorable cutie pie… thanks MikeF for the great photo…
when babies arrive in the office it is as though a silent alarm has gone off… before you know it most of the staff turn up, lol… today was no exception;-)…
nothing like baby snuggles to brighten a person’s day…
many things make me happy, but babies are pretty much at the top of the list…
and then, when I arrived home, this pansy smiled directly at me;-)…
cuteness overload…

what a lovely evening…
weather was crazy all day… every time we looked outside it was either pouring or the sun was shining…
had arranged to go home with my daughter after work so I could attend the youngest grandson’s soccer game… he plays regularly on Wednesday evenings and I haven’t made it to a game yet…
the weather wasn’t looking promising but thought we’d give it a shot…
my oldest grandson picked me up after work and just as I came outside there was a huge downpour… by the time we picked up my daughter the sun was out again…
we dropped him off at rowing… he’s just taken up this sport and is really enjoying it…
then we went to their house for supper… my son-in-law had a delicious dinner all ready for us… butter chicken, rice, corn and salad…
I really feel blessed and treated when someone else makes the dinner…
by this point the soccer game has been cancelled, so we decided to go Pokémon hunting at the Forks…
we wandered around, inside and outside, and I was excited to find the cutest little pitcher… I’ve been looking for one for when I have my loose tea…
hard to tell but it is purple, lol… it is a little whale and it gurgles when you pour the liquid… so cute…
it rained as I was getting into my car to head home and shortly after I took this picture of the sky…
gorgeous, again…

lots of treats and surprises today…
when the mail arrived there was a box with my name on it… in it was all of this…
two tasting packages, a cute notebook, a card and a hummingbird chocolate bar in a tiny love bag…
at lunchtime three of us did a little chocolate tasting… we had a great time… comparing how the small pieces taste for each of us is way more fun in a group than individually…
it was funny because I had decided to do a tasting on my own after supper with some of the pieces that my daughter sent me a while ago…
she had sent the parcel ten days before Mother’s Day and it only arrived last week, lol… the parcel today was a replacement because we had given up on the original one…
after lunch a colleague brought me a package with my favourite summer rolls… had them for my dinner…
the chips were a bonus;-)…

been thinking of my dad a lot lately…
he died nearly thirty years ago… he lived with emphysema from the time I was a teenager…
he did as much as he could, but spent the weekends recovering from the week and trying to build up the energy to make it through the next week…
when I turned sixteen, he and I bought a new car together and I began driving him to and from work every day… which also meant that I got to drive to school each day;-)…
he loved sports and we often attended athletic events at the arena and watched whatever sport might be on tv…
he was the person who taught me to appreciate each person or team’s efforts and applaud everyone’s performance, whether they were the one you were rooting for or not…
to this day I do the same…
he started me on my love of office supplies… when I was young I would occasionally spend a weekend morning with him at work and organize his desk, lol…
he spent a good portion of his working life helping people figure out what type of work they would be best at, and he was very good at it…
when my beloved and I were first married, he would go grocery shopping with me and add a roast or some other treat to my bag… at first I felt bad that he did this, until I realized it was something he could still do for us… by that time he couldn’t manage physical things like home repairs any longer… buying us a treat was his way of supporting us…
he was a very special man… my girls were not yet teenagers when he died, much like my grandsons who were so young when my beloved left us… maybe this is why I try to keep memories of George alive so that the boys remember him…

the new neighbours have put up some wind chimes… the kind that I like, not the high pitched tinkling ones…
wonder how long I will refer to the neighbours as new, lol…
reminds me of the wonderful ones that we had… they were a gift from friends and had a lovely deep sound…
one year we decided to make similar ones as our Christmas gift for friends…
George took ours apart to create the template and worked on them for weeks…
we had great difficulty finding the correct type of copper, but eventually all the bits and pieces were gathered up…
during that time he came down with an infection which damaged his heart… he just finished the gifts in time, as he was feeling so sick…
he never did put ours back together… I think the struggle to get the gifts done really tarnished his love of them…
a couple of months ago I found the bits for our original set, but apparently some of the pieces aren’t there…
I can’t figure out how to put it together but with the lovely sound coming from next door I think it’s okay…

went to close the curtains in the dining room this morning and was surprised and so excited to see the wild roses blooming…
we brought home a root that we dug out of a ditch around Hillside Beach decades ago…
nothing happened for a few years and then it took off…
ever since we’ve been pulling it out of flower beds, borders, and even the grass…
but it is beautiful and reminds me of fun times with my beloved…
