was supposed to meet with my ReImagining friends tonight for supper and conversation…
when I left the office the snow was coming down like crazy… I started across town but then decided the weather was too miserable to make the trip…
headed home and got a few shots of the snow coming down when I drove into the garage…
found some leftovers for my supper and am going to have a nap…

been a quiet weekend which was exactly what I needed as I move into a very full week…
yesterday the kids dropped by in the afternoon and did a few little jobs around the house… I think they actually got the furnace fixed… reamed out the pipe again and also melted any ice which may have been in it…
I’ve put away most of the Christmas decorations over the last few days except for the snowflake wreath on the front door…
it is just too pretty to take down…
also included this picture of the sand dollar wreath that just got rehung at the front door… it had a couple of broken pieces and while she was here my daughter repaired it and we put it back up…
going to have one of my decorator friends make a bigger purple bow to finish it off, lol…
the backyard is looking very lovely with the snow sculptures that the wind has made…
the stone for the waterfall has never been this covered up… there is a lot of snow out there…
took this shot a few days ago of the steps between the upper deck and the back door…
they are completely covered in snow…
doing laundry this morning, I was thinking of my mom who loved laundry… and could get any stain out… sadly, I did not inherit that love, or ability, lol…
cooked a few meals, tidied and relaxed…
happy for the down time…

spent some time today reorganizing the living and dining rooms…
put away a few last Christmas decorations and got to try out a few of my Christmas presents…
first I played with these nifty gloves that were in my stocking…
they are waterproof and make scrubbing much easier… had a bit of fun cleaning the top of the stove with them…
after I put some of the plants back in their places I played with another of my presents… a can of morning glories...
apparently they will start to sprout in 3 to 5 days… I am really excited to see if we get flowers…
couldn’t put everything away… kept out the glitter trees once I stacked them… and just took a few photos with another of my gifts…
hoping to get there soon…
been a busy day and now to bed…

this morning as I was driving to work I ran into a patch of ice…
had to work hard at leaving my foot on the brake… used to old school pumping…
reminded me of what an excellent driver George was…
he always drove defensively… which also made me think of him as I was sliding on that ice patch…
this is the most recent picture of Shadow that I have… didn’t remember to take a photo of her this morning in her new parking spot at the office… it is a great one with a car on one side but not the other…
the other day, when I was backing out of the garage, my daughter commented on how well I maneuvered the tricky bend in the driveway…
made me think back to when my beloved left me and I had to get in and out of the garage… at first it was very stressful, but as time has gone on I’ve become comfortable with the process… I still would rather be the one to put her into the garage which makes getting her out simpler, lol…
this was a picture I took of the house, from the car, when I made it out of the driveway after one of the big storms recently… you can sort of see the jog by the garage…
I am getting more comfortable in those big girl pants…

last night I made Friendship Soup that had been a Christmas gift…
the recipe called for a pound of hamburger, canned tomatoes, pepper and water…
it also called for tomato paste, but I didn’t have any so added some Clamato juice instead…
browned the meat…
added the tomatoes and water…
took it to work this morning and it filled the crockpot to the brim… it made a huge amount of delicious soup which everyone loved…
as I was washing the container the Dawn dish soap produced a bunch of bubbles which floated all over the kitchen and brought a smile to my face…
made my day… another awesome special moment…

while all the kids were here, we three girls went for a pedicure at Total Wrapture…
my toes were purple when we arrived, lol…
really like Total Wrapture… they have six chairs, set up three across from the other three… so we have our own little area…
one girl’s came out gray with one shiny toe on each foot…
the other ended up orange…
and this will surprise you I’m sure… my toes ended up purple… we searched for quite a while to find just the right colour…
this shade seemed like the closest to my hair colour…
pretty toes make me happy…

ate well today… started with smoothies… mine was the usual spinach, yogurt, avocado and almond milk… my daughter’s was banana, frozen red berries, coconut yogurt, a bit of spinach, almond milk, and chocolate nibs…
we made it out of the driveway… there was a good bit of snow in it but I didn’t get stuck…
did a bit of shopping, came home, picked up her luggage and went for sushi on the way to the airport…
yummy… and I didn’t eat too much…
got her to the airport and then went and picked up a few groceries…
made it home and into the garage without getting stuck…
my grandson and his girlfriend came over and he shovelled…
made them pizza and I had goldeye, salad and radishes…
after supper they headed across town…
I am now home alone…
with tea and the last two imperial cheese cookies from one of my Christmas gifts…

started the day with breakfast at the “A” as my son-in-law was leaving around noon… we took the car cause it was kind of chilly out…
good sized snowflakes were coming down so I took a bit of time and got a few good shots…
came home, packed up the son-in-law and dropped him off for his flight…
we ended up waiting with him for over a hour… always sad when they are heading home…
we headed downtown, visited Chocolatier Constance Popp chocolate shop and went to check out the Empowering Women Exhibit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights…
we didn’t walk the ramps due to time constraints but it would have really helped our Fitbit steps, lol…
it was very windy today which made it feel especially cold… but we did go to The Forks for a short wander… nice to check out the renovations…
came home, warmed up leftover steak and lobster for supper, and then headed out for a hot tub…
in now and planning some chocolate tasting with wine and tea… then to bed…
she leaves tomorrow afternoon…

this morning the table was covered with glitter as we toasted the new year over breakfast and then fixed a few things around the house before the kids headed out to visit with friends…
I set the table and prepared for our family New Year’s dinner of steak and lobster… we used to have it on New Year’s Eve but it has morphed into New Year’s Day…
used the Ferrero Roche tree as the centrepiece, as well as our dessert, lol… had fun setting the space up… even put out some glow-in-the-dark bracelets…
groups arrived at different times and last to arrive was the working son-in-law who joined us just after seven and headed right out to the garage to barbecue the steak and lobster…
it was beautifully done and went perfectly with the baked potatoes, escargot stuffed mushrooms, fried Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad…
the dessert tree was a hit as well… the kids cleaned up and we had some fun tasting chocolate…

got some fun toys over the last week…
first this cool leef gadget… it sticks into the phone and copies whatever is on it, then plugs into the laptop and copies the contents onto the computer… it also acts as storage for my phone…
very quick and easy… think that it is going to be much simpler than connecting a cord to the computer and trying to find the phone before being able to copy over photos and other data… such fun;-)…
also got a much larger hard drive so my computer will stop telling me it is out of room… possibly it thinks I take too many pictures…
and last, but not least, a chromecast…
just learned about this a few days ago… it streams media from the phone or laptop… I can now watch Netflix from the bedroom, using my phone… very cool…
picked up everything now so that my son-in-law could get it all working before he heads home from holidays…
testing it all to be sure I can work it without any problems when I’m on my own, lol…
