just can’t get over the sunshine… blue sky when I woke and the sun rose above the trees a bit later… feel so much better when it is sunny outside…

had a lazy day with just a few chores and prepping for dinner with the kids…

took a few pictures of the sun shining into the living room… new shoots are coming up in the water plant barrel…

  
and the orchid looked great today…

  
went to Ikea for a short spell in the afternoon with my daughter…

yesterday I wore these jeggings which I just had hemmed this week… this is my first experience wearing this type of pant/leggings and I’m not sure how I feel about them…

  
will need to show them to the fashionistas in my life to see what they think, lol…

during supper I had to get up and step outside to get a picture of the sky with my iPhone… so great to have that quick access to a camera without having to run to find it…

  
it was exactly that shade of red… quite beautiful…

the sunsets have been awesome this fall… 

I’ve almost forgotten how dull it has been for the last few weeks…

wonderful how a bit of sunlight can perk me up…

so excited this morning to see the moon out the window… made me jump out of bed to take a picture and I discovered that there was a planet just above it…  couldn’t decide if it was Venus or Mars, lol, but cool… this was a wonderful treat because it has been overcast for days…

a little later I got this shot of the sun shining brightly…


what a treat… wasn’t out in the garden for long but took the time to look out the windows to enjoy the sunshine whenever I could…

picked up groceries and made zucchini basil soup, which is becoming a staple in my house, for my dinner… it is so tasty and easy…

got the ingredients chopped and cooking…

  

within half an hour was blending it together…

  

enjoyed it with some lovely Tuscan garlic bread from Safeway…

 

walked into the living room and enjoyed this topper to the day…

 
now spending the evening drinking chocolate rocket tea and watching ice skating on tv… 

funny how the rough days make the ones that follow more special as you realize how wonderful life really is…

this morning had to take this picture as I stepped out the door…

  
that was snow on the ground, sigh…

I’ve been waiting all week for tonight’s fish and chips from The Captain’s Table… 

stopped at Polo Park to pick up a few items and as I left ordered supper from SkiptheDishes on my phone… got home, prepared some veggies, and the food arrived…

 
less than 30 minutes… great surprise… and it tasted great too…

much better day today… still a bit emotional first thing, but by the end of the day was feeling more settled… really does surprise me how strong emotions can be, even after all these years…

these orchids remind me of my love and how he took care of me…

  
he would surprise me with orchids all the time…

sad…

this morning I took this shot of the living room at ten to eight…

  
it is very sad how dark it is in the morning… this is partly due to the fact that the lights are turning off an hour early… will have my son-in-law reprogram them when he is here next, lol…

besides being dark, it has been cold, rainy and overcast, for what seems like forever…

  
been leaving the light on the stove on when I leave home so it isn’t dark when I come into the house after work… how sad is that…

have my S.A.D. light at work and turning it on for a while every morning… hope it will help with the blahs…

  
today I was struck with sadness over the loss of my beloved… it is three years and eight months since his death, but for some reason today it was like it was yesterday… the day jumped out at me…

had a few aha moments recently regarding technology, lol…

just last week my daughter pointed out that I could put more than one fingerprint on my iPhone for security…

     

I had been under the impression that it only took one fingerprint…

I often pick the phone up in my right hand and then have to use my left index finger to open the phone up…

now I have added the thumb and index finger of my right hand so I can pick up the phone and use my thumb to open it…

way easier to get into the phone this way…

I have this cool lightbulb which is connected with the Smartpad app… it lets me turn the bedroom light on and off from my phone, or even change the colour of the light… great when I’m heading upstairs at night… now the light comes on as I am on my way up…


just discovered it has a wake up mode and sleep timer… when it comes on in the morning it lights up slowly so as not to shock you… very cool…

at night I set the sleep timer for the light and the tv…  the tv is a great sleeping pill for me, lol…

and just this minute I accidentally discovered that if I double tap on a word as I am writing, it will highlight it so I can use bold or italic on it… this is going to be a great time saver…

amazing how excited I get when I find a new piece of technology, or a new way to use something I already have…

now if I could just figure out iTunes, lol…

started the day with a visit to the dentist for a filling… had a cleaning done a couple of weeks ago…

  
went very well… probably the most relaxed I’ve been during a procedure for a very long time… not sure if it is because I am getting older, or actually able to relax better, lol…

when I arrived home the cleaners were just finishing up…

  
love how great it looks once they are done… pictures show what an overcast and dull day it was…

  
living room is ready for company tonight…

took the time to replace a tile which I broke yesterday when I was getting a bowl down for dinner… I had foolishly put one bowl under another and when I took off the top one, the second one flew out and hit the tile before crashing to the floor…

  
bits and pieces when I got them out…

  
lucky for me we had a few spare tiles so it was easy to pick up the bits and put down a new one…

  
the broken bowl was a beautiful heavy purple and blue one which held the heat nicely, sigh… oh well, it was my own fault…

woke up with a start in the middle of the night… someone was outside yelling… stopped after a couple of minutes, but took a while to get back to sleep…

not sure how I feel about the time change… 

  
the good news is that my new bedside clock changes the time by itself, like my phone and tv… now if my watch would just learn to do that!

the kids picked me up and we went shopping at Costco, where I picked up another few Christmas presents… 

then out for dimsum, at my son-in-law’s suggestion… apparently dimsum is growing on him, lol… 

  
the oldest grandson took the bus from home and met us there… and he got a table just as we arrived… although I did miss watching the fish in the saltwater aquarium… 

we finished everything on the table… usually we end up with a few things to pack up and bring home… the little boys are eating enough that we don’t need to order rice for them… lots of positive changes…

stopped and shopped at a few more stores and then home… 

lovely barbecued steak for supper… kids got a few new CDs onto my phone and then they headed home…

was very happy yesterday to find this new cover for my soap container so I could change it up…

had a sleepover at the kids…

this morning I took a picture out the living room window of the front of their house… 

 

ignore the bloody footprints, lol… so much brighter with the cedar tree down…  

and now you can see the beautiful birch tree…

this morning we headed out and about to look at tiles and countertops which was great fun… but now I am rather worn out, lol…

this is the front of the house very early on Friday…

  

put out some pass-along boxes, yay… having a box on the dining room counter to pop items in has become a great habit… whenever I get a call from an organization who wants to collect stuff I know immediately if I have enough to pass along, so I’m not running around like a crazy person trying to find stuff… 

this was the front of the house tonight just before I turned out the lights…

  
plastic pumpkins looked cute… didn’t have the energy to put out the usual Halloween decorations… not sure what that was about, although it was much more fun to hand out the goodies with George, lol…

ended up with a total of 17 kids… fair amount of candy left which will need to get out of the house so I am not tempted to eat it…

here’s my final Halloween picture… my youngest grandson admiring the pumpkin his mom had carved with a drill… he was really enjoying the process this year…

spent some time in the hot tub this morning…

  
had to put on my water boots and my touque… starting to be cold on the feet and the ears…

 

a dozen geese flew just over the house in total silence… wonderful view of them…  what a special moment…

as I was sitting there I was thinking of my new spoon…

  
reminded me of going to a family member’s cottage for weekends a number of years ago… George and I were both early risers and he would make coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar and a good dollop of milk… took a while to stir that sugar in, and the sound of the stirring would drive our host, who was trying to sleep in, crazy… got to be a bit of a private joke for us…

hadn’t thought of that for years, lol…

got my pictures printed and put them into two of the squares in the coffee table…

  
asked one of my grandsons to help me and he had a hard time because he thought they should line up exactly… eventually he gave up on the job and asked his mom to finish… we did have some fun looking at them and remembering the events…

hoping that visitors will also enjoy looking through them…

yesterday morning the sun was shining on us as we drove to work…

  
this morning I headed to work early for a dentist appointment… it was dark and raining… proceeded to rain for most of the day… very dull and on top of that the dentist found a cavity…

had a rough day with flashbacks to the day George died… three and a half years later and it still stabs at my heart… not really what I want to be remembering and certainly drains my energy…

had a wonderful gabfest with a couple of my dear friends last evening… great to have the opportunity to catch up and spend time together…

  
I was given this amazing glass spoon, with a tiny bit of purple and turquoise on it… plan to make it my tea spoon so it will get lots of use… it feels amazing…
