magnets…

a week or so ago, I cleaned all of the various bits and pieces off the front of the fridge…

put the container with the 24 magnets on it ready for Advent… my daughter sent them to me years ago… they covered two muffin tins and each held a tiny treat as they were opened daily during Advent…

then I put them away carefully🤪… and I didn’t find them until last year, lol… I am happy to use them this year, especially as I still knew where they were…

I think I might start with the 24th and then count back until Christmas;-)…

guess I better turn the magnets around, lol…

this morning I put up the first one…

spent a busy and productive day recently…

added ornaments to the drawers in the table… they look good…

spent a while deciding on where the tree should go this year… for the last few years it has been in the window, but I felt like it was time for a change…

dug out the tree and set up the space for it… added extra lights and fluffed the branches…

next I brought up the bin of snow people… after some thought I emptied some of the squares in the dining room wall and added the snow people… it was fun deciding which ones went together…

took the pottery pieces that came off the shelves and put them into the bin… it was very heavy, so I slid it into the den closet… it will be safe there and saved me from trying to carry it downstairs…

found purple, silver and clear ornaments and listened to Christmas carols as I added them to the tree…

yesterday a good friend stopped by with a few items from a fundraiser…

there were two beautiful poinsettias and a swag…

after our visit the swag went up on the front door… looks good there…

hope it stays up… the swags don’t have any fasteners on the back so it is always dicey to get them up and looking great…

the poinsettias found homes in the dining and living rooms…

now to see if I can keep them alive through Christmas;-)…

pleased to see that two of the orchids are getting new buds… got some nice pictures of the buds on one, while the other wouldn’t cooperate…

makes me very happy as they seem to be liking their new spot…

as of today, all twelve are in the new garden-erie;-)…

this morning the snowploughs came down the street and filled in the sidewalk and left a bit of snow in the driveway…

they also ploughed a big slice of my grass so that the fire hydrant is accessible… it will be interesting to see how it looks in the spring…

something I’ve learned over the last few years is that it needs to be shovelled as quickly as possible, so that it doesn’t turn into a solid lump of ice which can’t be moved…

I had finished the end of the sidewalk and was just starting on the bottom of the driveway when my grandson arrived and finished it off…

everything was icy… it had rained a bit last night and then froze so the cement was slick…

I was happy that he finished the driveway because my boots were slip sliding away…

but it was all done in a short time and hopefully the ice will melt over the next day or so… if it doesn’t I have a supply of ice melter that I can put on the ground…

had a great morning in the kitchen…

made venison stew from meat that my neighbour gave me…

used the final few tomatoes to make a pasta sauce…

also used the last of the potatoes in the bin to make mashed potatoes… there are enough for my supper with the stew and 2 additional meals…

next up will be cooking some spareribs for a few meals…

last night I went out for a hot tub… I hadn’t had one for quite a while…

although cold, it was still, quiet, the sky was clear, a few stars were visible and for the first time ever, I watched the moon rise behind the cedar trees at the back of the garden… not sure if it was the time or the place the moon was in the sky…

the light moved from area to area so all I ever saw was a tiny spot through the branches… it was amazing…

and then I had the greatest sleep…

I had forgotten how relaxing my time in the tub is;-)…

as I was walking down the stairs this morning I looked outside and spotted one of my bunny buddies…

I went to get the camera but it was exhausted so there were no closeup pictures…

the bunny sat there for the longest time before eventually leaving… I was happy that it was okay…

there are lots of bunny prints in the garden, lol…

well, the coleus has been transplanted…

there were lots of roots when I checked the glass the slips were in… I went out to the garage and brought in four pots and a pail filled with potting mix…

found a plastic container to use as a saucer and planted the 9 different pieces…

they are now on the dining room table in the light so we will see what happens…

at the same time I planted two ivy slips into a small pot which is going to sit on the bathroom window ledge…

more plants;-)…
